    Once again I’m At Ludham Bridge filming the severe flooding that is presently affecting the whole of the Broads network. Quay heading is totally submerged and the tide is the highest I’ve ever seen.
    Richardson’s boat yard crew have worked tirelessly these last few weeks, to ensure their holidaymakers get safely under Ludham Bridge.
    Please Like this video , as every like is for the crew of Richardson’s for the hard work they do to keep the boats moving each side of the bridge.
    I’ve asked several times if they mind me filming and they’ve all said to carry on doing so.
    Thank you.

    Thank you Lisa ! ❤ That was a barrel of laughs 😂 The boatyard men did a good job ..and they seemed to be enjoying themselves too. Perhaps they should have asked all the watchers on the bridge to come and stand on the boat too ? Maybe they would have needed life jackets. Sorry that your filming at the bridge is ending, but I am looking forward to finding out what else you have planned.

      I think you’re right about life jackets and I think it’s about health and safety too.
      I’ve been filming at Breydon Water today. Only saw one boat 🚤.
      There are boats out on hire but they’re so spread apart you can’t wait all day just to film 3 or so boats. Everywhere is flooded so that’s been what I’ve been filming. That video (floods) is out at 6pm this evening.
      Thank you for watching my channel.

    One of the down sides of putter larger and larger cruisers on the Broads.

  • @andypandy9
    @andypandy9 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I guess it's the price you have to pay for having broads cruisers with 'flying bridges' and all the other 'must haves' you can't do without for a weeks boating holiday... The old Frank Wilds designed 'bath tub' didn't seem to have any problem with Ludham Bridge at all, because it was designed for the waters it was cruising, in all but the most extreme conditions.
    I too, can remember boat crews rounding up a few 'volunteers' from the Bridge Hotel at Potter Heigham. The extra bodies aboard enabling their boat to pass under the old bridge, if the water was just a little to high...
    I once asked the Herbert Woods 'bridge pilot' why they always went through the bridge at full throttle?. His reply was 'the boats hull buries itself deeper into the water, if you go at a good speed'. Which seemed feasible, if you've got the nerve to do it!...

    • @NewnameSameme
      @NewnameSameme  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do remember that hotel.

    Many years ago a Norfolk Company took by merchant vessel a Broads cruiser to Dublin. The idea was to launch cruiser holidays on the Royal Canal. The Irish did not wish for this as it meant revitalising the canals which they wanted to close. They raised the water level so the cruiser, an old type with folding wheelhouse, could not pass under the bridges. The Norfolk crew thought about this and noted most bridges had a pub nearby. They bought an awful lot of Guinness and packed large quantities of Irishmen into the cruiser which traversed the canal which is now still in use! The name of the company Norfolk Knights! Norfolk as usual doing different!

    Wow , what fun day lol , i could'nt believe that the little boat could'nt get through , i never realised they were so high , they probably would've been better off put the tubs on the back & reversing under, as they say that the prop actually drags the boat down when slightly speeded up . just my way if thinking lol .

    • @NewnameSameme
      @NewnameSameme  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Aswell as the tubs of water they’ve added water to the boats too . Bilges . Plus sometimes extra people. Today’s video is about the Potter Heigham floods and the continuing locked in tide. Storm Ciaran on top of all that and then the river water floods the road.

  • @mrfill9999
    @mrfill9999 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Your guess is correct. I've done the same before at Potter to get under the bridge but I used the larger spectators and offered them a ride in my yacht. No difficulty in finding willing people.... about half a dozen good stout ones usually does the trick. It also saves the bother of filling and emptying barrels which is tedious... Wouldn't have worked today at Potter as it looked like it would have been tricky to get a small rowing boat through it was so low.

    • @NewnameSameme
      @NewnameSameme  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought health and safety stopped that way of getting under the bridge at Potter years ago 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @mrfill9999
      @mrfill9999 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its ok if there are 12 or fewer - that's why its best to pick the more voluminous passengers... They're much easier to move around than huge water barrels too.

    Boat yards have been making bigger and bigger boats letting them out longer into the year greed is good for a giggle on the bridge but shit for everyone else on the broads. When we were kids there would be nothing but anglers now now this lot never stops

  • @oceanfroggie
    @oceanfroggie 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The other trick is to let about 1ft of water into the bilges assuming the batteries are higher or wait for the EBB

    • @NewnameSameme

    Do these people get any form of primary training before they hire a boat?, very reminiscent of dodgems at fairground, just bash into other craft and carry on regardless!. I hope they don't drive cars in the same manner.
