Just like FLY LYF commented, I use my heat gun on low and took it SLOW and it came right off.
First I drilled about a dime size whole on top as close to the edge as possible without damaging the housing, but far enough away from the center to not damage the spring.
I then used a Chanel lock pliers to apply upwards pressure as I applied the heat and was able to get it off. I did damage 1 of the clips. So to avoid damaging the other two, I applied heat to them and bent them away from from danger.
After I removed the PVC I applied heat again to the clips and SLOWLY bent them back to original position.
So I definitely recommend using a heat gun even if you have to make a run to harbor freight, it well worth it, and it something useful in the toolbox anyways.

I was able to replace mine on E92.
Don’t be afraid guys, I used a chisel and needle nose vise grips to start pulling out the pieces in the middle. Once I was done in the middle I chiseled the sides off and they “peeled” off pretty quick. There was one spot in the back that was tough but I was able to shave it off with a razor blade. New one slipped right in, I lined it up with where the previous clips were.
Turned the car on and no more whistling engine. Now off to my next code crankshaft sensor😑.

Change the entire Valve Cover of a 2008 BMW 328i. Includes the PCV.
Since I turned it on it did not sound good and a lot of blue smoke from the exhaust. You need to tune the Valvetronic.
But it kept making oil. Change hoses, sensors. All the same blue smoke. I couldn't speed up much.
Thank God I realized that when we installed the PCV we did not include the Spring.
Since there is no spring, the PCV stays open and pours oil as much as it wants, especially when you accelerate and when the engine is hot.
The key Spring because the BMW 328i 2008 has the oil separator in the Valve Cover and part of the work is done by the PCV. If it doesn't work, all the oil goes to the intake manifold and that's where all the problem comes from because the spark plugs fill with oil.
    So don't forget the spring.

I think only European models have that option, it’s got something to do with emissions, not full familiar with that system, as for the US, we don’t have the line that is connected to it, usually it’s lose plug that covers the hole but it not blocking it, so the membrane can move as it desired from manufacturer.

    • @Makhnovets

Hey I replaced mines with a new one but forgot to put the spring the car runs fine so far.. are there any danger of not having it in?

    • @Makhnovets
      @Makhnovets  ปีที่แล้ว

yes, the valve will not work properly, it will stay open or close all the time, possible problems, burning oil, blue exhaust smoke, exes amount of carbon deposit inside intake and cylinders, on high rpm or highway driving will be most notable, this system separate return gases from the oil, if not working correctly, it will also suck oil in the intake...

@@iooraster2116 I think it’s keeping the valve close, and when internal engine pressure increases it gets open, I know just basic, you might be right in terms of its just for structural support, but I can’t confirm that.
Simply it’s same PCV valve, but more complicated since it’s BMW.
As for how long you can drive it, less better.
My for example had a whole, it was like that since I purchased the car, and before I replaced it I put 5k mi on it, and who knows how many miles did previous owners , so I guess you can drive the car as is, but what problem it can cause or how fast, i have no idea.

    • @Makhnovets
      @Makhnovets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It doesn’t have to be, the nozzle has to be open as inside rubber membrane that has to move and it’s sealed inside of the engine, and getting in action by vacuuming force inside the engine. If you gonna close it, the PCV OR CCV will not work correctly.
Some of the European models have separate pump connected to it as they have more emission requirements.

From the factory it comes with valve cover as unibody, that's the part of the VC. So that's why you have to do it old fashioned way))

Hi, Cheers for making the video. I can't see the link for the valve.
My 2008 325i (Black Engine Cover) is fluctuating & revs up when cold when I apply the brake. It also cuts out when slowing down for intersections etc. I have replaced the MAF & it hasn't made any difference. The engine will run much better once warm with the MAF unplugged. I've had the car a few months & every so often I can hear the Lifters so I add 1/2 -- 1 ltr or oil. I have never seen it burning it (blowing smoke) and it doesn't have any major leaks & with not having an actual Dip Stick (Dumb Idea!) I'm relying on the oil level sensor being correct. Is there also a Oil Separator on the Intake Manifold? I've tried looking with a light & can't see one.
    Thanks.

      Hey.
No, there no more oil separator on intake, but you could have a-lot pf carnbon deposit on valve’s, that will make your car go lean.

I have a 2008 328i n52k that I got recently and I'm starting to fix the issues it has. I had the same idle fluctuations on mine when pressing the brake pedal when I first started the car then it would go away most of the way after it warmed up. And also even not pressing the brake pedal it did a little fluctuation right after I start it. I have the bimmer Geeks pro tool and I reset the engine adaptation and learn parameters and also the vvt motor minimum and max calibration. The motor was all over the place after I did it lol but it went back to normal afterwards. When I start it now it doesn't fluctuate anymore no matter how hard I press the brake but the car still has a stumbling and fluctuations that come and go while it idles from some other problem. I found my problem and its a typical problem on n52s that the connector plug and pins for the MAF sensor does not make good contact and it causes the engine to run like crap and not smooth with power. I had a code for the MAF sensor. For BMW the MAF sensor is called HFM sensor just so you know. I put a new german howe sensor in and also the conector on the old one was cracked. New sensor didn't do anything. With the pro tool I noticed that everything with the sensor like the air inlet temp etc was being read by the dme and working but when I looked at the voltage for the sensor it read 0. No matter how much I rev it it was 0 volts. At idle the sensor has to send a signal to the dme or computer which it is not. I removed the plug to the sensor and noticed one of the pins must be pushed in but I need to get to it tomorrow and open the plug up and fix it. I put new plugs and all ignition coils and the motor was still acting up. They sell the pigtail fix for the conector but first I'm going to open it up to investigate and see if I don't have to spend the money but I'm sure my problem is there. I read on E90 post that many with n52 we're having the same codes as me and issue. Unless you have a good scanner like me it will drive you crazy. I have the tool and still can be intimidating to fix simple things on these cars. Anyway hope this is helpful. Also I forgot, concerning your noisy lifters you want to use a good oil 5w30. I use pennzoil ultra platinum full syn. To get rid of the loud ticking what you do is start the engine then let it fully warm up for ten mins or so the oil flows well. Then just rev the motor to 3,000 Rpm and hold it steady there for a good 5 minutes. Then you should see how the noise go away. In my case it did wonders and has never came back. To answer your other question the 2006 n52n has the silver engine cover and the magnesium valve cover and those have the CCV under the intake manifold. The n52k like yours and mine are more revised version that have the black plastic valve cover with the CCV valve on the valve cover only. 2006 is n52n. 2008 on is n52k and there alot of other differences👍

@@L-Noble.YT_Hi.Res-Soundminds Hi, thanks for your reply. I have a THINKCAR, THINKSCAN MAX which is a good multi vehicle scan tool., which I used to find the same no voltage fault at the MAF sensor. My connection fault was up in the main harness junction box. A dirty/loose connection. After fixing it the car still wasn't running right, idling rough and cutting out when slowing down.

Replacing The PCV did not treat the problem, it did help a little but did not cure that. there are many things that can be wrong with floating rpm like "Injectors, carbon deposit on intake valves, exhaust system, or most likely fuel system, and more". till now I have that issue, and I also selling the car, I'm not really up for spending more money in to at. I have owned F10 5 series 2011 (n52) for the last 5 years and its been good to me.
    Issue and Symptoms:
Every time I start my car it will start normally and in 5 sec after that I would hear a short hassling whistle and it would start to vibrate for 6 to 10 sec while the rpm needle would remain below 1000 and then it would pick up the RPM and stop vibrating (not completely you can feel light vibration). And driving if i step on the gas it somtimes delays in reacting and if I do stop at the light you can still feel is vibrating. I'm also getting some smell from the exhaust pipe but no smoke but its a strong scent.
regardless of if the car is cold or hot if I start the car is would act in a similar manner.
I believe it could be a vacuums issue (not sure though)
    Kindly assist me please

I would try to determine whether ticking noise comming from CCV, which is you can put your hand on the top of CCV and try to feel any type of feedback from it. As far for the CVV it's oil separator, if it's broken the car can eat some oil, as well as have little more exaust gasses, or stinky smell. In my case i was looking for problem, and if i would know for sure that's the CVV, i would replace the whole engine cover. As well I'm planning to sell the car soon, so it's not ideal for me to invest some money in to, that's why i go with cheap repair, as well as Video content...

It’s very possible, the previous models from 2000’s had issues with white smoke because of pcv. if it’s completely destroyed, but I would test it first, the video in description on how to test it, also does it produce any noise? You might be looking on steam valves, how often do you have white smoke? What engine do you have, because the turbo can do that as well.
