Very well done , I'm coming over from northern Ireland this year to do and it gives me a very good insight on what I'm up against , brilliant video mate
CONGRATULATIONS on a marathon well done. I really appreciate this vid, as I'm doing this marathon (1st Yshire mar) this Oct 2022, & wanted to see the course. It doesn't look so fearsomely hilly as ppl describe. This will be my 6th marathon since 2019, & I have 4 more in 2022 after this one, running with plantar fascitis. It's very helpful to see the layout, etc. You did brilliantly, again, Congrats!
Cheers, although '21 was a very painful marathon for me as I pulled my Achilles about 3 weeks before, so by mile 17 it was agony! It isn't too hilly, though there are some long gradual hills and some shorter sections, not least right at the end! Not sure they are so noticeable on camera. Wow, sounds like you have a busy autumn lined up, good luck in York, might see you there, I'm running it again this year!
Great race footage my friend! Fully watched and subscribed with great appreciation for other running channels with great, motivational running footage! 👍
Matt how does Yorkshire compare to say London, assuming you’ve done the latter, in terms of elevation and time to complete. I have a place for Y for my first marathon and I have a little anxiety about about the hilliness.
Unfortunately, I haven't run the London marathon, (I've had 12 years of rejection emails!), so can't compare it to that, but the Yorkshire marathon isn't too much of a hilly course, there are a few elevation changes, but they're not especially challenging. There is a short one about a third in that looks worse than it is and then about 17 miles there is a long shallow hill but again, isn't anything to worry about. And then the last one, back to the university and the start/finish is another short hill, that you will have come down at the start, which is over quickly enough! Don't worry about the hills, you'll be fine, you'll barely even notice them,I bet!
@@MattClarry thanks Matt appreciate your reassurance. Im gonna go for it or else it’ll bother me forever. Unfortunately i cant do the Mcr or London in April as it’s ramadan and i’ll be fasting.
Yeah, you'll be fine, take it steady on the uphills, coast on the way down. Follow a steady plan in the build up, but don't worry about missing the odd session and you'll smash it! Yeah, I can see how that would make things difficult to be fuelled fully for marathon training!
H Matt, good video and Marathon time! Can you tell me what camera you use please as would like to use a camera in marathon next year. Also presuming you got it on a chest mount?

And yeah there was a lot of pain this time round, expecting some more again in 3 weeks !
@@MattClarry i may be part of your pain, just finished my 1st 50k Sunday, deciding if i'll be fresh by 16th ?....decisions decisions :-)
Wow, very impressive, I haven't done one of those (yet)
3 weeks is plenty of recovery time, you know you want to ;-)
Well done mate! Running this race on sunday. What did you use for the HR n pace graphics on the video 👌
Cheers!
Good luck for Sunday, I'll be there again, too!
I use the Garmin VIRB Edit software for the telemetry.

I use the GoPro Hero 10 Black, yeah I'm using it chest mounted.
How do you keep your heart rate so low??
I'm not too sure to be honest
I do have a fairly low resting heart rate anyway but I don't think the telemetry shows when it spikes
