Nicola finally got to see your video very uplifting to watch, your smile in infectious. Thank you to you and Helen from the bottom of an old guys heart for coming back at the end to help me across the finish line. I remember passing the 25mile marker and checking my watch thinking I've got 2 -2.5 mins in hand, got my head down up the last hill, even picked the pace up, turned the corner at the top with 0.5mile to go and someone flicked a SWITCH on and I was suddenly, without warning, the drunk man staggering home after a night out, no control at all. As one of our running club ladies said seeing what was happening "what great sportsmanship by everyone. It made me want to cry looking at those photos! Kind humans x" Slight downside is that my wife was at the finishing line to see it all so for now I'm banned from marathons, well at least for the rest of this year, but she has promised to buy me a new pair of running shoes. I've thrown my hat in for next years London so lets see plus I'm entering the Continental Thunder run at Catton Park a 24 hour run as a solo, still got to sell this one to the family. Once again thank you and I will be checking your videos in the future.

Doug! Thunder Run solo is EPIC! Get the family to camp with you and the grandkids can do the pyjama run on the Friday night. They all get a hot chocolate and a medal and it's literally a few hundred meters but is an awesome start to the weekend!
I SO hope you get a London place. I really think you will as your time is super respectable! It's fascinating hearing you describe how it felt at the end of the Yorkshire Marathon but oh no... Your poor wife! That's awful! Bless her heart! I can't think of anything worse to see at the end of a run than my partner being whisked off in a wheelchair. Hope she managed to find you easily enough and wasn't worrying for too long. I did laugh that she's going to buy you new trainers... I guess that's why you married her! She sounds like a keeper to me! 😍🥰
Pleased you enjoyed the video and all the best at Thunder Run! Don't forget to write SOLO in big letters down the backs of your calves. You get loads more support for it! 😃

I just got accepted to pace The Amsterdam marathon later in October & I came to find a video to get my excitement and spirits ready for it.
    This was a good one.
Can't wait for my first Pacing Duty.
Should be great. Would definitely feel like a first again but with the challenge of doing it in 4hr:10 min.

Thank you so much 🤗 Oh my goodness I'm so excited for you! We've just got back from the Netherlands and I was saying that I'd love to do Amsterdam marathon one day! 😃 I hope it goes really well for you! Does it have loads of twists and turns or is the route fairly simple? It's all the corners that make pacing hard as then you can't trust your watch! It's so rewarding though, I really hope you love it! Let me know how you get on 😃

I just moved to Rotterdam as well & the few half marathons I've done give you the sense that it's great running in this country, the support is lovely.
I'll recommend you make Rotterdam your first Dutch race anyways.... I've heard too many positives about the support and vibes from the race.
I'll keep you posted & hopefully come here to tell you about how my Pacing went.
There's a lot of turns & all that calculation of starting in waves. I think I'm being paired with more experienced Pacers so I'll just bring my positivity & help as many people as possible achieve their goal. A true honour I can't wait to experience.

Thank you 🤗 deffo do it 😃 it's a great day but there is a nasty hill towards the end so just be ready 🤣 honestly, poor Doug! We'd spent hours chatting to him and were fully invested in his journey. We were gutted when we saw him struggle! And it was nice to be able to go back. The worst thing about pacing is having to just carry on when people drop off and can't hold the pace... It's totally counter intuitive to just leave them! But a pacer must hold their pace?! 🙃
