That knife is 100% legit! It's as tough as it is pretty and to this day, I consider it one of the best Bowie knives I have! Watching it perform... NEVER gets old!!! GREAT VIDEO SCABB!!!
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors Getting one as soon as i pay off afew bills , starting a new job soon down time got me alittle behind on bills. Great review , , in the future also looking to get the Cold Steel barong machete, like a good cut and thrust design.
I have my O-1 Trail Master bowie and it's little brother the Recon Scout. I have a few bigger blades and a few smaller blades to keep it well rounded. Thanks for another great video Scabber.
I'm envious of you for being able to use yours! The blueing on mine is so pretty I just can't bring myself to cut anything with it! I did sharpen the false edge, that took some doing.
Yeah I'm a fan of this one, even though I don't own one yet. Kinda put a stop on new blades for a while, but I'm always eyeing this one whenever it goes on sale!
That's a serious chopper. Can you imagine Scab getting out of his truck with that beast in his oversized mitt? Trees and vines would tremble with fear! Great video. Every American needs a big-ass Bowie knife.
I know you said you didn't care but if someone did the 1917 line was historical weapons reimagined as if military issue for ww1 in 1917. the bowie, a cutlass, rondell dagger ect
the name comes from them also releasing a 1917 cutlass at the same time, which is a replica of the cutlass the US navy adopted in 1917 (truly the last sword adopted for combat, and one was even used by a marine at the Inchon landing during the Korean War to kill a guy). It uses the same belt frog thing as the 1917 frontier bowie too.
Yeeah Buddy!! I have one! It's definitely a Beast of a Bowie, I wish it had LionSteel handles or some more ergonomic handle scales, even though I do love the Rosewood.
You know I am more of a folder guy, so that's where I spend more money. I have the Nomad Bushcrafter and the Lanzeta from WTG, but other than that all my fixed blade knives are under $100. There are still some great ones for that price.
I watched your original video on that knife way back when, then subbed to the channel and bought the frontier bowie. Mine is banged up now but i still love it. Been one hell of a ride brother
Bought one of these a year ago. Pretty amazing, especially for the money, just a beautiful, big honking blade, with a likewise beautifully made sheath. They seem to be a bit harder to find these days. Also, it's called 1917 because it's basically a scaled down version of their 1917 cutlass, which was used during ww1.
I love large fixed blades, they're my prefered knife. Not always practical for a city boy, so I keep smaller and folding knives too. People who know how many knives I have say it's ridiculous and I agree..... 😂 However, you like what you like.
People often don't like Cold Steel knives that are made by Windlass Steelcrafts in India. However, in my experience, Windlass makes some great large knives, with an excellent heat treat.
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors true. I didn't buy the Wild West Bowie. It's a nice knife, but it has a hollow grind. I prefer a flat or saber grind on large Bowies. That doesn't mean it's a bad knife. It's made of very tough 1090 carbon steel, with a good heat treat. I'll stick with my SZCO high carbon Bowie for now, since it has a flat grind. For such a cheap knife, that SZCO HC Bowie is a really tough knife. I like the grind on the 1917 Frontier Bowie. It seems to have a tough saber grind. I've seen people try to destroy it, and they can't!
Great looking patina job on the blade brother and I love the guard. I found this knife on KnifeCenter for $113. Thanks for the review my brother it’s much appreciated 👊🏼
Im gonna Take a Stab at it.. LOL NO PUN! its most likely that in 1917 frontiersmen carried a knife much like the one you demoinstrate!! As Scab would say I Absolutely ADORE Cold Steel!! Their Stuff is GREAT!
I always loved the blade shape of this knife, that long swedge is wicked! I think it's the S guard and the shape of the handle that gives me pause on buying it. Awesome job, brother. I own a few Cold Steel knives and I love them. I carry an SRK in San Mai almost every day. The 1917 looks like one hell of a bowie fighter. Again great job, my brother.
@SCAB - I like that you do your demonstrations without gloves. Too many knife reviewers wear gloves. You can't tell viewers about the stock knife grip, if you're wearing gloves. I have this knife. It's a beast. I'm not the biggest fan of the square corners on the handle, but it works for me, unless I have some sort of grease on my hands. I'll never understand why you always remove your blade coatings, but to each their own. Personally, I love to keep the black coatings on my high carbon knives, for both corrosion protection, and so it doesn't stand out in the dark.
