I bought this awesome guitar to thé music store. But before,I played HD35, D28,D18 in an acoustic room.My wife listened to me....and when I played with this jewel....deep sound, poetic feelings....I fall in love.
Just bought one today and absolute love with this guitar. I feel like they designed and built it specifically for me. Everything I ever wanted in a guitar this thing has. And good God, you sure can play, buddy.!! Great video.
I just got mine today. The lightness and the balance are really striking. It's really strong through the mids, and the electronics are just clever as hell. And Justin is right; this is a great guitar for those coming from an electric background. The action as it comes out of the box is just about perfect. This is a real players' guitar.
I do hope Martin is paying you. I have seen a lot of good demo's of this guitar on YT, but listening to your excellent playing and how it sounds pretty much made me decide I have to buy one.
Justin Time! First time I heard your voice. Really appreciate the Martin review. It does look incredible and your insights are invaluable as your experience is unique. Thank you so much for sharing! I put your playlist on this Sunday morning. I'm here on the Olympic peninsula looking out over the smoke on the water from the Oregon forests burning. You truly help. Stay safe!
Outstanding rendition Justin, perfect ending to the day. The SuperCalifragilistic-13E looks and sounds amazing too, this is how guitar collections get out of hand man!
Martin makes beautiful guitars that look and feel amazing! You get what you pay for and in this case, they deliver. Great playing again Justin! $1500 is a decent price for this.
I just bought this guitar after decades of cheap acoustics. She arrives Saturday, and the more videos I watch, the more certain I am that I picked a great guitar!
@@TheBiggerDavo Oh yeah. I love that guitar. I wouldn’t have picked anything else. It sounds incredible, and it’s beautiful. What really surprised me, however, was how low the action is. I haven’t enjoyed playing guitar this much in 30 years.
@@TheBiggerDavo I did have to take it to the local Guitar Center to have the neck adjusted when it arrived. They removed the shim and adjusted the truss rod. It’s been gold since then. I’m not sure if it was caused be the music store I purchased it from (they changed the strings and adjusted the neck before they shipped it to me), or if it was weather (arrived during SNOVID21), but it was easily fixed. The people in Guitar Center were pretty impressed, albeit a little confused, by the guitar though.
Looks like a mélange between Taylor and Maccaferri. Sounds great . Although I'm worried 'bout the shims and the internal screw and the thirteenth fret and the asymetrical thing. But I'm Old School . Rock On Thanks for showing this. Cheers
I just got one from guitar center used for $1100 in perfect condition. The neck feels like I'm playing an electric guitar. Now I need to get as good as you!
That guitar sounded so damn cool Justin! Saying that any guitar sounds great in your hands! Hell you’re so good you could even make a shovel with strings on it sound good....oh wait, you’ve already done that! Lol ..... Stay safe n well Justin.
Tony Fedor Same here! I’ve always dreamed of having a Martin guitar but they’re just out of my price range unless I win the lottery. I’m seriously thinking of getting one of those shovel guitars though, just gotta look at my finances to see if I can make it happen?
Thanks for the unboxing...when they first unveiled this guitar I was sooo excited and would have bought one...unfortunately Martin isn’t currently making a left-handed model BUMMER! Now I’m even MORE bummed after hearing how nice it sounds.
Justin, you never disappoint. You make playing the guitar look effortless. I wish that you would consistently list your sound processing equipment. You should use the same setup everytime to ensure that you are comparing demo guitars under the same conditions and acoustics. Just a thought. I still like the tonal quality of the Furch travel guitar the best. To my ear, it had a warmer sound. Thank you for explaining the cut away in the guitar body. Never realized that it allowed easier access to the higher notes. I learn something with every video that you do. You keep playing, I'll keep watching and listening.
That's very interesting justin. THX. I love meaningful innovations, aaaaaaand Greg Koch play's fishman. 😎... ( whaaaaat's uuup ? ... i can hear some johnny winter there ) Sorry, i'm old and i have most of my musical world trip behind me but it makes me happy that i can still experience part of your great adventure. Playing the guitar was always innate to me and I see the same with you. Thanks for sharing justin. 🤸♂️🤸♂️🤸♂️😄👍
Love Martin. D18 was my first at fifteen. Boston Music Co. Awesome! After the Aria...I found the action easier than the Gibson Heritage I bought, after the Martin was stolen. Bastards! Thanks, J&N❤🍀🇮🇪
WOW that guitar sounds amazing....has a ton to do with the player...so good! It almost sounds like it is coming from a solid body. Like SRV reincarnated!
I recently picked up my first Martin, The LX1- the 'Little Martin. Smaller traveling guitar, not the backpacker. Love the spruce top, and amazing sound! I actually put down my cigar box git' box for a while.👍 Liking the looks of your Martin a lot so far!
Best acoustic cover of “Lenny”! Well done Justin... you definetly make me want to get a SC-13E in my lifetime! Especially considering the blue binding near the soundhole! Don’t get me wrong buddy I love your acoustic work on Furch Guitars but there’s something magical about a Martin and you make it sing straight outta the box!
What is it with our fascination with these stringed instrument objects? They are like spacetime portals into some clairvoyant dimension of ritual and dance and the swirling landscapes of our imagination. A crafted beauty like that Martin 1) makes me ill with longing and 2) restores my faith in humanity.
This guy can play, I can hear influence of Jimmy Hendricks, Jimmy was the best, truly gifted, glad you like your new martin, like your style of playing, enjoyed video.
DUDE! Fantastic demo! and really cool laid back non-sales feel. And the HAT? Where's that thing from? Just love this guitar - thinking about this one seriously.
As far as body style, it looks like my Breedlove Pursuit concert body. The quality and workmanship look better than my Breedlove but at that price point it better be. Thanks for sharing Justin.
I always buy something labeled Fender, Gibson, or Martin. My only exception is Ibanez; couldn't help myself... If/when you want to sell it, those names get attention. Lots of good guitars out there but say you're looking for an amp; you see a Crate, a Peavey, and a Marshall...
I bought one in cold, dry MN and the 19th fret high B is in tune, not that you need that very often but my god it is high quality. If you get one, change the strings to something heavier
@@soofitnsexy I returned it and picked up a Seagull solid wood dread. Where Martin might take top quality in its price ranges, I think Seagull takes top value in lower price ranges.
@@ThaKKatt i owned 7 martin dreads I just got a martin d 35 2 days ago...so this is a very inexpensive guitar...I agree totally different from a seagull...but its not meant to be a gull or a gibson etc. I guess u didnt really want that martin sound with cutaway??
You know it would be cool to see Justin Johnson tour the Martin guitar shop. That would be a excellent video. Maybe they would show you how the neck joint is assembled. What do you think?? Enjoy your weekend
I stopped to buy a Martin cutaway with pickup at a guitar shop near the pain clinic that I go to. I sat and played it for over an hour, then told the shop keeper that I was stepping outside to smoke a cig and buying the guitar when I was finished. I wasn't outside for 5 minutes and when I came back in he was selling it to the other customer in the shop. It had been there for a couple of months and I finally had the cash to buy it. I was so pissed off that I've never walked in that shop again. Still don't have a Martin either, but still have the Guild that I've had for over 25 years . . .
When you do the “acoustic vs plugged in” demo towards the end of the vid - when is it mic’d and when is it direct? There wasn’t a cue to tell (at least I didn’t see one!) What an amazing guitar tho! And fantastic playing! Love Martin and their innovations Cheers
The first part of the video he is playing thru the mic as acoustic. When he says, let’s plug this thing in to see what it sounds like, then everything after that is played thru an amp.
OMG! Always love hearing /Watching you play, except for ONE THING!! Kinda sometimes makes me want to throw away my guitars, lol!!! What the hell am I doing,,, aaaaaaaagggghhhhh!!! But seriously, AMAZING, playing as always. Been looking at and thinking about this Martin since before they released it. Kinda hoping they would expand the design into a US made solid wood line. But it does sound great here,,,, soooooooo.... maybe I won't keep waiting! THX!!!
Having only seen you play at gigs and not Like y’all or anything.... you sound nothing like what I expected, great content and personality for sure though!!!

I had not heard of this Justin Johnson cat before about a month ago. His playing is to die for. Call me a fan
Dude, he just gave a symposium while breaking down a Martin E-13 !!! ...OFF THE METER !!!
Brilliant player and ambassador for the guitar community.
Sweet! That arrangement of Lenny at the end was the icing on the cake. AWESOME!

The smile on his face when he first starts playing has Martin Guitar written all over it! Thank you for another great video!
Martin Super Cool 13e... As always, thanks for sharing your gift and demoing these badass guitars JJ😎
