You’re so right. Given how great it sounds but with a modern adjustable neck and a stable laminate (but all real wood) body, it will be much cheaper to own and maintain than a normal Martin guitar. You’ll never have to pay for an expensive neck reset or the hit it takes to your guitar’s value. I have a D-18 MD and an HD-28 and I still want one of these. I think it is the beginning of another classic and 80 years from now people will be dying to get one like they do for a pre-war D-28 or D-18.
Lee, your playing has improved dramatically since I first started watching Andertons videos way back when. So tasty! Oh, and when I grow up I want to be Danish Pete.
I have one and play it through a Fender Acoustic Overdrive and a Fishman Tonedeq into an AER 60. Unbelieveably happy with it. So easy to play and really bridges the gap between my electrics and other Martins. Taste and try before you buy, don't just knock it.
As soon as I saw this Martin I wanted it and have been waiting for an Andertons review ever since! Thank you guys, you make reviews so interesting and great to watch. Keep up the good work 👌🏻
I like this guitar above all the older classic Martins. Not everyone will want it but like they said, electric players who want an acoustic my choose this one. I think it sounds greats.
I bought one last month. Walked into my local dealer thinking about a new Tele and bought this instead. I totally fell in love with the neck and how it plays. Got home and immediate Put it through a marshal with a lot of gain. It was brilliant! Well done to Martin for doing something different. One thing, I don’t tour, unless moving it from the living room to the kitchen counts, So I may have to send it back!
1.) Ovation made this “same” guitar about 40 years ago...electric-style neck, acoustic-electric, plays like an electric guitar, funky new design (round back, shallow round back), etc. They were way ahead of their time. 2). Who would buy an SC-13E? Me. I’ve been looking an electricky acoustic for a while. Didn’t like the acoustic sound from the Acoustasonic or the T5z.
Am I the only one who's so in love with that sweet twangy sound of an acoustic electric plugged into an amp? oof I could listen to the intro jam all day. Great playing and a fantastic demo lads!
I have one of these, for me its a keeper :) nice demo guys! People debate whether or it's solid wood or laminated guitar. Technically Laminated, I think of it as a Solid.- | - International marketing consultant, Steve Harvey. says “It’s essentially solid mahogany with a thin - we call it ‘fine’ - koa veneer over the top to give it some bling.”
MUCH prefer these two legends showing the acoustics than Ben. Ben is a brilliant player. But I watch these for the laughs and banter as much as actually wanna hear and learn about the guitars. Plus his thumb pic puts me off😂 Until Rob and Bea is fully back, I’ll watch these two, and ONLY them❤️❤️ And Nathan OBVIOUSLY. He’s the funniest of the lot😂 Love him
Neil Addison Have you played an Eastman? I did, side by side with Martins, and I really wanted the Martins to be better......but they weren’t. The Eastmans were better in every way, but I bought neither. Can’t bring myself to replace my perfectly fine Taylor.
You guys should make a video using Guitars in styles they weren't made for, and testing if the type of guitar really does affect what you play. For Example, using an ESP James Hetfield Snakebyte made for metal to play Jazz
The most radical Martin I have ever seen. Designed (I suspect ) in response to the Taylor V class braced guitars. The big fat X in the sound hole, which says to me.."We are Martin. We brace our guitars this way". And the neck joint "You want a bolt on neck? Have a look at this!". Listening to the demo via my Android tablet and reasonable quality headphones, I thought it sounded thin and tinny and quacky. It did not sound like an acoustic guitar to me. I wonder what it sounds like unplugged?
@@JohnnyB15 Hi Johnny, apologies for the late reply. Yes, there's not much room on the bridge plate for the Baggs mic. If I remember rightly, I had to mount it in such a way that the mic overhung a little at the front edge of the bridge plate. However, it did work..
Agree, a great recording sound but, the Australian guitars that Ben showcased I thought sounded exceptional, mind you, when I hear Ben play guitar, I feel like crying! A real acoustic talent!
I think Martin have priced this right! Still expensive but not really expensive in the acoustic world so I think it’s reasonable enough and different enough that acoustic players will add it to their collection and if an electric player was looking to try acoustic they haven’t been priced at either as it’s similar price to a US strat/tele. Would love to see some different exotic woods on this model in the future.
Thank you so much for this informative video. Quite interesting guitar that should be tried out while in the process of buying one. You guys are amazing :)
nice fingerstyling for an "electric guy" :) love the guitar ... I want one ... it's probably my next guitar ... thank you both for the great indepth review
Hey guys! Question for ya. I started on acoustic years ago, then switched to mainly electric for a while, and now am getting back into the solo acoustic gigging thing now. I like the idea of this guitar having the playability I've gotten accustomed to playing electric. Would you say that with this guitar you're paying more for the uniqueness of it and getting any less quality? Or for the same price could you get a much higher quality acoustic? Maybe another way to ask the question would be: What "normal shaped" Martin model would you say this guitar is most comparable to? in terms of wood, tone, bass response, playability, pickup system, etc I'm interested in this guitar, but I don't have a frame of reference for knowing if the price tag is a good deal or not. Let me know your thoughts if you get a sec, thanks!
Great review I have a Les Paul & a Hummingbird which I find a little on the large side for practicing . This is a super option for the acoustic practice and playing, with great heritage and innovation with a mangeable and easy to play feel. Sounds super too!
Guys, tell me which is better to take Martin Guitars SC-10E or Taylor 214 ce plus? Which of these two guitars will sound better? It’s especially important to me that there are more overtones and more bottom end in the sound
Pete is on top of my list of "the best guitarists of all times". not because of crazy speed or stupid technique or ....... Every lick he plays sounds amazingly beautiful. the opening jam was superb.
Hey! I'm a beginner and i was practicing with a simple acoustic guitar since quite long enough. should i buy this electro- acoustic ? haven't played electric guitar.
David Woods Might be because there are better options/companies for the money. I feel Gibson is completely out touch with their consumers. Eastman makes incredible guitars that wipe the floor with Gibsons, but you have to buy what YOU like. Wish you the best with your purchase.
It’s not a bolt on neck it’s fixed with the dovetail running parallel to the top of the guitar instead of running perpendicular which is the traditional Martin method.
I'm getting a new guitar later this year and after about a hundred hours of research I've decided this is going to be the one. What a gorgeous guitar. I've been performing with a DCX series for several years and the old girl is in need of enough work to make the new guitar the best course of action. This guitar looks and sounds perfect for the sound I want with my looping setup (although I will change to .12 gauge strings). Can't wait to hear it in MY studio! I will probably run it through my Fishman Aura box live, as that box really does a nice job of covering some of the piezo sound and provides for some wonderful tones, even with my low-end DCX series Martin.
You're separate again! Had a row? Btw I like those - the sounds are like the guitar I played but through TH-cam, I forgot: Nice deepish body...... Best, Pete.
The Captain doesn’t give himself enough credit, that was a wonderful jam. Pete was looking on like a proud father
50% of quarantine just watching and re-watching new and old videos alike. Thank you for being awesome!
Glad to of helped you get through lockdown! Thanks for tuning in. 🤘
Ditto my man! I think I’ve commented at least twice for every video now? ahahaha
I bought one today and am so happy with this instrument.Loving it.
This is one heck of a guitar. The addition if the tuner is great. And it’s beautiful in its simplicity.

This guitar is great for a working musician who plays acoustic. My son uses it for his Tommy Emanuel Tunes and it's great.
Great opening jam! I also liked that you showed that acoustic solos can be played in different styles.
We always try to show the guitar in all lights, not just our favourite. Glad you enjoyed the video! 🤘
Intro sounds like Slowhand's live acoustic tone. Id love to own one.

Ten times out of ten, a mic'd acoustic sounds better than a piezo
The prs?
And 10 times out of ten, there is a limit to how loud a mic'd acoustic can get before feeding back.
@@Ruefus fair point
This is not piezo. So I don't think you statements is right.
@@pedersenist at marker11:30 they say it’s a piezo.
That’s one of the nicest gig bags I’ve seen
Great video gents. Made the morning awesome. You two sound great with those guitars
Thanks for tuning in Christopher, glad you enjoyed the video! 🤘
Watching and waiting for this design in a 16+ series with solid rosewood or mahogany back and sides. Fingers crossed.
Would love to see it in a d18 design!
The "Exciter" gets me all excited! Seriously, what a fantastic guitar. I MUST POSSESS one!
Might be your best ever review. Thanks.
I want ones of these. I just wish they had a vintage burst version. I’d buy it today!
Just bought one!I love it.A little pricey and mexican made but a great guitar
What a great review thank you! Love the sound, look, versatility and tech of this guitar, which is everything I want - box ticked.
Lee you sound great on a acoustic!! SERIOUSLY
Whenever I get in a rut I breakout my Capo , and move it up and down the neck. It always gets the juices flowing again..

Yes.
LOL, yeah, I think you may be. I think it's more of a "fingernails vs blackboard" sound.
Before I started playing I liked it, then other players that hate the sound got in my head and I convinced myself that I don't like it hah
Yes. You are the only one 🤣
Big Red Ben you own that sound, I will recognize you playing from a mile away.
Great video again! Captain gets better each Jam 🎸
could listen to you guys play that all night!
watching this again. is Pete crying? lol. my favorite channel. check every morning for new stuff. Makes me want to play.

I played one and can’t believe the bass🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Guys! These video's are much appreciated.
Having performed a number of dovetail neck resets over the years I'm definitely open to the adjustable neck joint concept.
Lee played awesome in the intro

Better still, play it once with the “right” guitar and once with the “wrong” one as a blind test.

Beautiful sound from the mic and the pickup.
I need one ! Love them
Need that intro as a backing track for sure!
Have on order...if they ever get stock again! Thanks for all this info!
Bought one! Love it. Thanks for the videos
As a long time acoustic player I'm excited by a 13 fret cutaway but I'd not buy one until they make a cedar top with solid back and sides - IR or Koa.
3 months after purchase and loving this guitar. Swapped out the Fishman and installed a Baggs Anthem SL. Great review guys and wonderful playing..

That cutaway looks just like my breedlove..
Best acoustic guitar for a nice, clear, warm sound while fingerpicking, but also low action and easy to play?
Would it be correct to say that intro jam and the one at 17:10 is Major Blues? I need to know how that's done.
