(9:23 ‒ 9:52) I would have bet that that discolored ceramic capacitor was the culprit but your excellent explanation is: unobjectionable. Thank you very much for teaching us and sharing sir. A successful repair. I liked it. A sincere congratulations. All the best.
I was running at 400C. I should have probably bumped up the heat a little. I usually leave it set there unless doing a port. Thanks for watching and commenting! It helps!
@@ToltecMerc ah I see. But still you can clearly see more details on your camera. Mine suddenly decided to stop correcting for light exposure. Now I have to adjust light brightness to min depending on angle of the board.
I really love how you talk through the diagnosis, I have learnt so much from watching your videos. Many thanks, Merry Christmas and a happy healthy prosperous New Year to you 🎄
It would be almost impossible without schematics. You would need to ask someone in a forum somewhere. Another possibility is to take an educated guess. If you are repairing a circuit you will likely know the maximum voltage present and most bypass caps of this physical size would fall into the 10uF - 22uF range.
Great vid and good catch!!! Question, how would I get the value of the small choke on a ps4 slim ps…had one pop the main and smoked that small choke…I replaced it from a donor but would like to find a replacement…love your vids enjoyable and educational 😊

Hey, I'm from India, I bought a ps4 slim from Japan says 100v and in India we have 220v. I have connected to power and I felt heat, so immediately I powered off and noticed 100v. How can I ensure ps4 was not damaged.. Do I need to use a step down transformer??
A great demonstration of how useful a visual inspection + knowledge of where to look really is
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Visual inspection for the win. Nice clean, neat work. 2 thumbs up as always!
Thank you! Too kind!

All of the Above! That donor cap was stubborn, didn't want to come off. Excellent Repair and Video! Thank You. 😀

I ended up watching last night. Bang up job as usual. Amazing how such a small crack can cause the whole console to go dead.
Yay! Another video. Don't have time to watch at the moment but I'll watch later for sure!
Please do! I hope you enjoy!
No alcohol, no thermal camera, great eye, congrats!
Thank you! Maybe I should have spotted it sooner but the crack was on the side.
Awesome noticing the crack. That's some good microscope too. I need to upgrade mine at some point as well. As always, great fix 😊
Thank you! Looking back at the video, I knock the small part off of the cap when I tap it with the probe.

good work as always, cheers mate.
Hello Master how are you 😊 you are the best you knew, take care
Can i get your messenger
I am well. Thank you for asking and for your comment.
Good job mate 👏
If it can be fixed then Toltec will. Nice repair yet again a cap brings down the whole device.
Thank you so much! These ceramic caps have killed many a PS5.
I spy with my little eye at least 2 PS5s in that closet over yonder.
@@isakill at least 2!
small defect but a great job again.
Thank you! Small ceramic caps have killed many a PS5.
Let’s design the PS5-C, without capacitors. MTBF: Eternity
Maybe Sony could just use higher quality capacitors. Nah! Thanks for stopping by Tony!
@ I’m wondering what’s the failure percentage of electronics nowadays caused by capacitors 🙂
Enjoyed watching that. Always wondered though, if you didn’t have a donor to compare, how would you go about choosing the correct replacement part?

nice job ,i would have changed that gold colour cap ,looks like it,s had a lot of heat through it ,just as a precaution .
Maybe. I wonder it had been hot or if it was just from another manufacturer.
Have you gotten the board view files yet m8? I'm sure Steve has em
I did.

Thanx master ❤️🇹🇷
Nice one
Thank you very much sir!
Perfect
Thank you! I'm glad you think so!
It was a great class
Thank you very much!
@JoeyDoesTech is this the same issue you had in your recent video?
are 1215s more prone to failures ? see a lot of them in your channel.
I don't know that 1215s are worse or not. I only see broken ones so my perspective is a little skewed.
Nice repair.. the name of the test cap esr or a link to buy it?

The official ps5 repair documents from sony are out in the wild if you look. Should make your job significantly easier.

Nice scope! Model?
whait so sony did not get the memo from ps3 ? o.0
They always use the lowest bidder for components it seems.
@@ToltecMerc i get but what is the problem to make the case litel big bigger and coling more more efficient but yes money and money
instead of repairing it you should throw it E waste were it belongs
I paid $200 for it so I prefer to sell it.
