This was really kind of you to work on a viewers board, they could not have sent it to a more competent technician. Some good analysis and shots of you working on the board in this video, thank you. Stayed to watch you replace capacitors, made me laugh at the end when that capacitor did a 360 while you were soldering it.
Wondering about the practicality of such repair... Basically, replacing 2 specialized ICs that aren't likely something you could just order online, so you'd need a bunch of donor boards lying around. And no matter how good you are, this is in no way less than half a day of work. So how much should a business charge for such repair to be profitable? How does that compare against the price of a second hand PS5 in the US? Just thinking out loud really... :)
The South Bridge is a kind of secondary processor. It's no where near as powerful as the main processor but also uses a lot less power. It's job is to handle some of the tasks that need to be handled at all times such as being in standby mode and the initial startup of the console.
This is not good, this is not great, this is the BEST PS5 repair channel. Awesome job. Keep it up!
Thank you for not cutting it short. Even the "small" things make a difference in learning what to look for and how to fix it!
Great ending 👏that little capacitor 360 rotation spin was a victory celebration. Same with car racing when you finish first place👍nice job!

Impressive you found the error! You've lost me in this 🙂. When you resolder Bluetooth chip what temp and airflow did you set?
You didn't show, but I assume you tested the wifi capability after replacing the module?
When you mentioned it was a good but banned board. Do you mean unable to play online? Didnt know yhat was a thing
@@dazamad yes it is banned from online play by Sony.

Great work 👌👏💯👍
hey this may or may not matter but l did see a burn mark on the chasey didi you check that too?
@@bunnylove273 the chassis was from another dead PS5 that had a burned PCB. It was only used for testing the PCB as the owner did not send a chassis.
Goodie another PS5 repair vid!
Good work
My confusion is what is North Bridge and the South Bridge?????
