      Oh man... I hate to hear stuff like that, but honestly that is exactly why I started this channel. I got tired of buying expensive courses that were barely covering the basics...
      If there are any specific aspects of FB PPC you are confused about or feel like I'm not covering well in the series, ping me with a comment... Building out my queue of videos I plan to produce in 2017 and already have one planned with a buddy... He has been running some successful FB campaigns and we are going to dig in on what has worked, what hasn't worked, etc... Probably later in January for that one.
      Thanks for watching and for your comment... I truly appreciate the feedback!

      Say Miles,
      Where did you learn are your FB skills? Theres so many people out there picthing their stuff. Its always changeing and if your not in it all the time you seem to get left behind rather quickly.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly through trial and error, really... But with that said, I've invested in a few courses and had a couple of one-on-one's with some amazing FB marketers... Jason Hornung, Curt Maly, etc.
      I was running ads unprofitably for a couple months until my first funnel hit break-even and that was exciting... My first profitable campaign made up for the early losses and boosted my excitement even more, so I went all in on funnels and FB PPC for a couple years.
      In my personal opinion, the 'nuts and bolts' of what to click and how to set it up in Facebook is relatively simple. The psychology and persuasion of getting your target market to take action is the real challenge.
      For that stuff, I study a lot of the old-school direct marketers from the 1940's, 60's, 80's etc. Eugene Schwartz, Victor Schwab, Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy. They used magazine ads, direct mail and mailing lists to do what we can do with FB, websites and email lists.
      So although the tech has changed.... A TON! Human psychology has not.

      Miles Beckler Well i'm glad you finally had a breakthrough. I'm looking for one myself I have been at this for foreign a half months with no success. It just seems it's more and more testing I guess that's what I have to do. Now pretty much healed from having back surgery looks like I'm going to have to get a job which sucks. I'd much rather do this, but is not putting food on the table. If I may ask you, do you have a full-time job or is this what you do full-time?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      At this point, my online business with my wife is my full time gig and my side gig is putting out these teachings here. With that said, I hustled with a full time job and client work for years while building this out on the side...
      Having the 'necessities' of life covered is important to keep us calm and in a positive vibrational state where we know we have the basics of security... The base of Maslow's hierarchy of needs en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_of_needs.
      If you are operating from a vibration of desperation, like 'This needs to work or I can't get food' then nothing works, as that vibration creates more of itself... I know, I was there. Tried to go 'full time' too early once and my wife and I were literally in a cycle of make sale -> go to store to buy groceries... Beans and rice till next sale. #NoJoke
      I went from that point, moved back into my parents house (with my wife at the age of 30?!?!) to get a job and 'start over' while still building our side business... Doubled down, listened to audiobooks on my commute, on lunch, on mid day breaks, worked when I got home and worked all weekeds.... Within a year I was able to go full time online and started building wordpress sites for people on the side, plus kept 20hrs/week remote from that job and kept hustling with our side gig.
      Three years of that... Client work (building basic WordPress sites for like $1k ea), the 20 hrs/wk from my old 'job' (I despised, but needed the $) and working non stop on our business with every other waking moment I could spare is what it took to 'make it' to where I could fire my boss and clients.
      Most people don't have the grit it takes to delay gratification and do whatever it takes... Happy hour on Thursdays and BBQ's and beer on the weekends is 'easier' and offers a 'quick' mood alteration, but I can tell you after having been challenged in ways I even doubted myself and my resolve, that sticking with it has been SOOOOOOO worth it!
      Wow... I wrote a friggen book there... lol. Sorry for the long response, but I got inspired.... And the 'point' here is that you can do this! Give yourself permission to get the job... Be grateful for the job you get and look at all the silver linings and know that running your ads and campaigns from a place of 'having enough' will help your business immensely!
      Also, listen to great copywriting books, personal development teachers and podcasts on your commute and you'll get idea after idea about what to split test, new approaches, angels, etc... This page from Jay Abraham (the greatest marketer alive?) has a ton of free and incredibly valuable content: www.abraham.com/50shades/

    Hello Miles. ONE very crucial question I have and many may be thinking of this.
    1. What are the steps IN SEQUENCE I should take "using Facebook Ads" to drive 200 plus targeted people to my Amazon/Product listing per day?
    The reason I asked this very crucial question is because now that I have gathered most of the info from you and others, I just need to know the simple step 1 step 2 process. I even have courses on facebook but no one seems to have a simple diagram to follow.
    I believe if there was a simple diagram like this made, it would be excellent, and would help LOT'S of people God willing! 🙂 Please let me know if you have one you use already simply starting from setting up the campaign. Ex. ---->
    1. Set up your campaign
    2. Analyze your audience data.
    3. Run a split test
    4. Create a look alike audience, and on and on.
    Starting from a beginner of course. Thanks again. Your help is much appreciated.

      So i launched today but i've been struggling for the last 4 hours to try getting my stupid facebook ads to start. I've religiously set everything up as you showed and everything says it's active but still no impressions. I even jacked my bids and budget with no effect. I googled it and countless people are having the same problem. Any advice?

    • @SuperheroArmorychannel

      I finally have my ads running but facebook doesn't allow me to select the "Link Click (CPC)" option. It says "you must first spend at least $10 in this ad account". Well i've already spend over $10 but i still can't click it and i goggled it and surprise... hundreds of people are complaining of the same thing. So any idea on how to get the link cost per click to work?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ads can sometimes take hours to get traffic once active... FB has a lot of issues behind the scenes that causes little hiccups like this and few people know why.
      I'd recommend starting a new campaign focused on conversions and just start from the top again. Only do this if you have your pixel in place, btw.... The pixel is required to focus your campaigns.
      This new campaign type may get you going.
      Also, be sure that your imagery and text is 100% clear of the prohibited content (#4 here - facebook.com/policies/ads/ )
      Facebook is much harder on/more strict with brand new accounts, so just play well within their rules and keep trying new campaigns (deleting the old ones) until something runs... Then let it run for a couple days.
      I would be doing $5/day or $10/day campaigns to get going, so when something starts working, you can let it run for a couple days, just to get in the good graces of FB.
      Hoping you found something that was holding this up and you are running your ads at this point....
      Finally, if you click the 'Help' link in the top right corner, you can then click on 'support inbox' and email FB ads support for help. They have access to much more info and can often guide you to get things going.

    • @SuperheroArmorychannel
      @SuperheroArmorychannel 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well i'm finally up and running although the biggest obstacle by far is the TERRIBLE quality of the facebook interface. OMG, you'd think a billion dollar company could fix their stuff, but apparently not, lol. It's laggy, it takes many hours to even show any data and it's glitchy as hell, but i'm letting it run anyway. Spent over 16 hours clicking away so now i'm just letting it run. I've read hundreds of comments online of people who just gave up because the interface would never work for them. I guess that leaves more opportunity for us right? lol.
      On day 2 i'm averaging over 30 clicks/day at less than a dollar a click but i know i can get it much lower still. A few of my ads are pulling clicks under $.50/click. Averaging 27% lead conversion on my optin page so far but i don't want to a/b test the landing page until i verify my best facebook ad variation first. Would you agree? Not too bad starting out though.
      I'm running 8 different facebook photo ad variations just testing the images as you suggested, then i'll move onto title testing. I'm promoting an affiliate product for now just to test the waters but it already looks promising, just waiting for a few sales to get some real data and see if it can be profitable or not.
      I crash coursed myself into all these systems based on your advice, but I'm loving thrive themes, wordpress, and especially active campaign. Huge learning curve but Powerful stuff! Just want to say thanks again for everything you've done and all the inspiration you've dished out. I wouldn't have even decided to try this out without having found your channel. Even if it fails, i'll try again until i can make it work!

    Thank you Beckler, this is GOLD! In this moment in time, I have a bit of a confusion in regards to the split-testing
    Im not sure which gender or interests you targeted for the ad-set example above, but I am wondering if perhaps you run those 6 ad-sets with different images, and then come to realize that for example, the confused girl didn't do as well as the others -- BUT who is to say, that if you targeted females for example, or a different interest -- that the confused girl image can't do well for females with a different interest?
    Thank you so very much Alex Beckler! :)

    Hey +Miles Beckler your videos are super inspiring and loaded with great information! Awesome work! Quick question, at 9:15 in the video you mention you like to see a CTR of around 3% or higher... are you referring to the CTR( ALL ) or CTR ( Link Click-Through Rate ). I know I've asked this question on another video and don't mean to repeat but I didn't get a clear answer on the CTR. Also at what point in the Ads lifespan do you like to see that percentage? Thanks again for the videos!

    Hey Miles, great value from this video but I do have two questions: 1. Is it better to be testing at the ad level or the Adset level? and 2. Are you waiting for 500 clicks because you are optimizing for clicks in this scenario? Why not 1000 impressions?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those tests are simply different.... Neither is better, both are important. I start with the ad set level to find the interests that drive actions first.
      I wait for clicks because I want to see the desired action (click) to have a large sample size.

    • @lmarketingbeast3234
      @lmarketingbeast3234 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey what's up Miles. To further comment on this, do you mean TOTAL clicks , or do you mean 300-500 clicks per Ad version? And when you say the CTR are you talking about the CTR (ALL) or CTR (links)?

    • @poshthat
      @poshthat 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just need a bit of clarity here...I understood when you said you spilt test Ad sets first, but you said you need to have an Ad which gives you more that 3% ctr or 7 relevance score.. So to figure that sort of an Adm should you not split set an Ad until you know you have a proven which get 7+ relevance score?

    Hi miles, greetings from germany. Do you run these ads simultaneously at the same time? this would surprises me because your ads would compete with each, leading with an increase of cpc. or do you run these step by step?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Multiple ads in the same ads that won't actually compete with each other, based on how their auction works.
      You can have your own ad sets competing with each other… But that's when you start excluding the audiences that overlap, from each other

  • @IvanMana
    @IvanMana 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    mr Miles Beckler!!!! Mr. Hornung in his training session said that split testing this way will up the bid amount of your facebook ads and it will cost much more to run them, so he suggested using the new facebook 'split testing' feature instead....... But it is a HUGGEEEE pain in the back and actually doesn't split test ADS, only AD SETS. what do you currently use to split test your ads? do you find that your ads cost is skyrocketing because you are duplicating ads?
    I am not sure how to split test without increasing costs. Thanks again!! Just finished 90 day challenge BTW :DDDDD

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Affiliate Marketing Essentials pretty sure I made this vid before 2.0 of the course was out. Right now I'm not split testing ads because I'm testing tings on my funnel so the ads are my constant.
      Off the top of my head, I'd do one ad per adset and test them this way to guarantee my daily spend on each... And I'd check the course and the group first to confirm!

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Affiliate Marketing Essentials great work on the 90 day challenge! You going to keep going?

    • @IvanMana
      @IvanMana 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm right ok so just make different ad sets that are EXACTLY the same except for the ad?
      And thanks! Yes, will keep going, just like you, the results are indeed compounding. 1 view every 2 weeks when I first started, now over 250! Want to test the limit!

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I'd duplicate the ad set in Power Editor and not touch the targeting at all...
      The one thing would be budget... If you need to lower your budget to not go crazy on your spend because duplicating the ad set duplicates your budget, but if is a $5/day ad, be crazy and let all $10 run... lol. If it is $50/day that is a much bigger deal, but I don't think that'd be the test.
      Then I'd go in and tweak the ad on the new adset and push it all live.
      With two ads in one adset, FB may not deliver traffic equally... This usually 'fixes' that but FB can treat very similar ad sets differently. FB is a bit finicky.

    • @IvanMana
      @IvanMana 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok, awesome, thanks a lot man. Don't know why facebook is making this so difficult. and the budget at the campaign level starts at like $800 for me, wtf...
      Why can't we just set a campaign budget and duplicate ads that deliver equally just like on google ads. makes no sense.
      But thanks for the reply, makes sense now! just lots of extra hassle :p

      either add in a second ad to the ad set (1 ad set 2 ads) or duplicate out the ad set and change the ad (2 ad sets [same] one ad each)

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly what matters most on a split test is that you are measuring the same CTR between the ads... If it is a PPE campaign, then all makes sense.... If it is a conversion ad then links makes sense.
      Both are ways to compare two ads with eachother.

      I'm always trying to be my control... So my best working ad is my control and I'm always looking for inspiration or a new idea for an ad or ad copy to 'beat it'.
      With that said all also look at the other steps in my funnel and if my ad is getting a 4% click through rate my conversion on my sales page is only 1% of focus my energy to try to increase the conversion rate on my sales page next.
      Always trying to increase the conversion at every step, focusing on the worst-performing piece.

      So does it mean, you start with 1 Ad set & 1 Ad, and you make continue to Run the Ad set until you have an Ad which has 7+ relevance score.. So basically you split test or change Ads to get the the Ad which meets the criteria.. Then you focus on Split testing with the Successful Ad..... Was I right with the sequence?

      TH-cam does not give me very good control over the organization of the playlists… At least there's a search function for you!

    Hey miles, on the updated power editor platform, I cant seem to figure out how to "lock" a particular ad set so that i can create specific ads for that set.
    I have 2 ad sets. but whatever I try, the adverts in one set automatically transfer to the other. I even tried to make a whole new campaign thats separate but the individual adverts im slit testing just get transferred everywhere

      Are you in Power Editor? Using the checkboxes to the left of the adsets and then you should notice a blue bubble up on the top 'tabbed browsing' view.

      yes power editor. the checked boxes on the left are not there anymore. its all been updated - im from the UK btw so maybe its different here

      As in im trying to set up multiple different Ad Sets - And then in each AD SET, have individual adverts designed for that particular Ad set. for example 1 ad set for fb advertising. and another ad set for instagram. but obviously the images and copy used for instagram ad will be different to facebook.

    Hey, can I still use this? has anything changed in facebook as far as split testing goes?

    • @MilesB

      I'm sure they've change the interface, but the process is still going to be extremely similar if not the same. But the look of how to do it will have surely changed

    I am still confused over ad sets vs ads. when you are split testing are all these different ad sets ?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ads I test the call-to-action content: images and headlines.... Ad sets I split test the audience: 'men' vs. 'women' or age '25 - 50' vs '55 - 65+' or even interests 'people who like Tony Robbins' vs. 'people who like Jim Rohn'....

    I'm overstuffed with tasks and need to prioritize. Could you do a vid on what's most important to give some order to it all? Thanks so much for sharing; great contribution to us hopefuls.

      This is a brilliant idea... I've got a couple of videos I have to get out right away but I will put this one on my list to be sure and cover it soon. Quick note, as a business owner your number one priority should be cash flow. Making sure your business is getting enough cash flow to be profitable is priority number one

      cool. i've been trying to follow along but I'm losing sight of what's critical. Got my first split test going today.

      This is definitely normal as you continue to grow into areas and do things you've never done before.... Generating sales and building an email list of leads are top priorities with a focus on giving and educating to build relationships.

    Hey, great video! But..:) some remarks about the technique/method used. Because isn't it true that regular Ad Sets are orientated towards optimization, and as such that's the goal of Ad sets. As in: FB picks a winner (based on which numbers?) and runs with it. And as you say, some ads aren't shown at all for some reason. In such a case you can't actually do an objective split-test, because ads aren't equally distributed during a given time. You just have to hope FB picks the right ad aka "winner". I think you can better use the new split tests from FB. I would like to hear your thoughts.

      I just run one ad per ad set and it forces FB to display each ad... Vs grouping both in one adset

    Miles! Joe here again. Obviously on a binge. Just for clarification because i'm seeing this question come up a lot in the comment section - Are we duplicating ads in the same ad set or duplicating ads & ad sets. I understood that we should duplicate ads along with ad sets just because this allows for each budget to be distributed equally for each ad. Am I picking that up correctly.

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      when I duplicate the ad sets, the ad is also duplicated. It uses the exact same ad ID… This way all 30 of my ad sets are pointing to one same ad. All of my social proof flows to one ad from all of the ad sets!

    (Split Test Budget ) this is the amount I will pay upfront??? please help

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Faebook you pay after... So if I set a daily budget of $100 and they don't send me any clicks (my CPC bid is too low) I pay nothing... If they send me $100 worth of traffic, I pay! The exact amount of your payments is set in the settings... I pay every time I hit a certain spend... Like $300 or whatever.

    Great video, thx a lot! Wondering if I duplicate the ads would they be competing against each other?

    • @MilesB
      @MilesB  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally speaking, Facebook will show each add to different segments of the audience.
