This video should have millions of views. I'm planning on spending 60% of my businesses revenue on Facebook and Instagram ads for the remainder of 2018. I'll let you know how it goes when we do an interview on my podcast!
looking forward to it! this video and the how to analyze series that's linked in the description is still exactly how I'm running my campaigns today… my most recent campaign has brought in about 20,000 leads in right around three weeks with this method ;)
I'm trying to learn from your series of videos hopefully I will launch my Facebook advertising campaign soon...thanks for your effort in doing all this...God bless you and your family!
Hey, Holmes. Just dipping in to let you know the 90-day challenge streak has been broken. Let it slip away a couple of days ago. Made it to 155 days straight. Wasn't crazy busy that day and even had several posts half-way written. Just was ready to let the streak go and focus more on big picture. Hope you are well. Woot!
That is amazing! 155 days is like half a year... I took a couple weeks off when I crashed, went all in on daily again for 2 months, then caught this 3 videos/week pace I like a lot. Don't feel 'rushed' or pressured at all and that is helping me find that balance between continuing to publish and being creative/having fun.
Yep. I thought about shooting for a full year straight, but decided it would be substituting the "form" of being productive for actually building something really useful. Three days a week sounds pretty good to me. Keep on keeping on.
Hi, may i know what is this 90-day challenge all about? Just came across this here. Do you have a video training on this as well? By the way, Miles, I have started implementing what you've taught in your other video on improving the relevance score in my facebook ad and know what? it came out 8!! I have a score of 3 in my first ad campaign but i change my ad copy and my target audience after watching that video. I jump for joy and will keep working at it to raise it to 9 and 10. But what i don't understand here is i have high score for both positive and negative feedback...am trying to figure out how to bring the high negative feedback score down....Really appreciate for all the great videos you've put up out there...Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Cheers!
We are going to try out on a unique population segment for the mugs in Singapore, based on data from Carousell (similar platform to eBay). Have a Happy Day Ahead! I got a hunch that in future there will be a market for people aged 45 to 65 learning these. In Singapore, these are the recently unemployed and job fairs are showing hirings for IT Programmers, IT Marketers, Cyber Security etc.
Yes we have created our 1st Ever Facebook Ad Campaign for Mason Jar Mug Singapore. Will let it roll for 7 days to see results. Miles, thank you for sharing so much!
Love your videos! Miles, I'm having trouble putting a clickable link inside the ad text. I thought I was able to do it before, some time ago. Any advice on that? Thanks in advance! P.S when are you guys planning to stop by in Sedona?
Miles thank you again for another great video! I do have a question for you, do you a FB Ads agency with local businesses? I feel you'd do really well! If you already are and I missed a video you talking about it, I apologize. If you haven't but have an idea of how you would run your campaign, I would love to hear about how you would go about it. Thank you!
Hey Miles, another awesome video! Quick question, if you have very little data points (only 117 likes on Facebook) and like 20 people on your list, how would you start your Facebook campaigns? Is it worth starting with interest targeting (30 interest) with value based Page post engagement campaigns to videos, blog posts etc, build up a small audience on the page and THEN start running Lead Generation campaigns/re-targeting campaigns like the one you have in this video to a landing page to collect leads? Is that the best way to give Facebook some data to work with? As I build out my new page, I want to make sure I follow the right strategy and don't try and ask for the email right out of the gate!! Thoughts? You rock buddy, thanks so much again for the awesome videos!
Focusing on interests with a conversion based campaign if you have a functional funnel... Doing the $5/day per ad set method ( th-cam.com/video/fceh6_UZz8A/w-d-xo.html ) to identify the ones that work well. If you give Facebook data with a PPE campaign that data does not translate to future ad sets or campaigns. So I recommend going straight to conversion campaign based on leads. That is false info that the engineers at FB who made their machine learning system debunked
Miles Beckler thanks miles! So just to be clear, when trying to build my list, I should focus on conversion ads based on leads using the $5 ad set? But will this type of campaign still get the engagement/audience up on the page? Or can I still put out blog posts etc and run them as conversion ads? Sorry for all the questions, just a bit confused on where to start first! Thanks again brother!
Wow, Wow, Wow! This is major super duper massive value. Miles I'm about to do my first ad this week. I've been paying FB to run my regular post to get some feedback about where people are that might be interested in my niche. Any advise in getting conversions? I really need this to be successful.
Is your funnel proven or untested? Do you know what your conversion numbers are? If not, you have two big variables... Your site's conversion... And the ads. This is a lot of work and a lot of moving parts to dial in. Either be prepared to spend months dialing it in and getting it right, or study Hornung's course ( www.milesbeckler.com/hornung ) to start with a pro process from the beginning. Just trying to be real... FB ads are not a magic bullet... And they can take time to dial in right, especially on an untested funnel. That said, it works once you get it all figured out.
HI Miles, As we only have one FB pixel- how do we set up a "all website visitors" for each different website we run? Is there an easy way to do it without going to become business manager? Thank you
you base it off the URL… Webpage contains URL and just put the root domain in there. One separate audience per website if you want to separate them… Or cluster all domains into one audience if you want to mine them
Hi, I did start two campaigns. The first with a 1% lookalike audience. The second with a 2% lookalike audience but I did exclude there the 1% lookalike audience. Does it make sense?
Makes sense! There is a way now to put together this kind of exclusion when you create the audience... Like a 2-4% not 1% audience. Kind of the same thing, really... Way to take action!!!!
+Bronson Laureiro this ad set is bringing me 30 cent leads and $45 customers worth $90 on the front end and over $200 lifetime. I recommend testing what works for your niche as this is crushing it for me right now... You can see all the data here: m.th-cam.com/video/Fp5CMGO64dM/w-d-xo.html
You're the best, Miles! Question: I know you said ideally we should be getting 25-50 conversions a week for our ads to work the best. Is that per campaign? Or does that mean for each ad SET? Thanks!
Hey Miles, thanks for your videos! I don't understand how I can retarget those people who add to cart but didn't buy. I've set up a pixel for for my add to cart but how do I target the people who activated it?
@@MilesB I am not sure, that is the problem, trying to figure this out since I started to use FB ads more and more the past couple of weeks. But I do get a great deal of sign ups when I promote... On avg it's about 2-3$ per sign up... And I spend another to promote content to those leads, about 2-3 blog posts, in there, I'll start to also include an offer to a landing page, which of course it's more money... Of course, I wouldn't mind paying that much for the lead and a couple dollars more to make a $20 sale... But maybe I need a bigger sample size to decide how much i am paying for each new customer. Do you think it's silly that I promote content to my blogs to those that sign up for a free ebook? Should I just start hitting them with the offer right away?
Hi Miles, why would you not use ppe (assuming it's cheaper) for retargeting if targeting people that has already atc on your site. Aren't they already all warm traffic? How would conversions be different if you are using website traffic for retargeting?Thx
My audience has many personality types and some definitely do not make online purchases... Plus my 'retargeting' audience has like 900,000 people on it since my site gets so much organic SEO traffic. The conversion campaign helps me leverage Facebook's data and machine learning to find those that have the highest likelihood to convert! Your logic is sound, tho and could be worth a test on a smaller retargeting audience... Like if I was going to retarget my customers with a 'thank you' video... That'd be how I'd do it!
Hey miles how did you create the engagement custom audience. I understand on the audiences you can create "people who have engaged with my post/ad" but i thought this creates a group which includes people who have already engaged. Therefore anyone new engaging with an ad wont automatically fall into this group when the new ad is running?
Great question... I'll probably make a video on this. But it is super simple... From in the ads manager, go to Audiences -> Create Audience -> Engagement on Facebook
Absolutely... All of my campaigns that are focused on interests or look alike audiences are conversion campaigns. Just happened to be setting up a retargeting ad when I decided to record a new ad setup update here.
great video! using $5 i see reach only: 15-75 is that ok? i did retargeting of people who viewed my product page in past 15 days, i see the size less than 1000.
For exclusions through e-mail, do you have to periodically update the same list before you include it into facebook ad or is it also automated as well?
Question. I have 2 fb pixels setup for 2 different domains but they all are for 1 fan page. I put the updated pixel in my funnels and the old pixel shows up in the conversion event. any advise to how I can fix this?
Hey. Miles how do you link all ad sets to one add? As I have duplicated the add set, and it duplicated the ads. Is there a way to have multiple ad sets, that are pointing to one add only?
What if you are just starting out, and have, lets say 2k people who didn't complete the action. If you re-target, too soon, your frequency will sky rocket (although can be clamped), should you wait till you have 10's of thousands or just immediately re-target and limit the frequency?
Fantastic info but many, maybe most, of us don't have any audiences to use for inclusion/exclusion. We don't have email lists. We don't have websites. We don't have pixels with data. How do you set this up when brand new? Can you do the exact same video and show how a newbie would do this-and maybe show a couple weeks of progress; reintegrating new audiences that were created from scratch as the campaigns grows and matures?
Miles, how to setup an EVER-GREEN SEQUENTIAL RETARGETING campaign on FB? I want to sequentially show the same ads (approx 25-30 ads) sequentially (in order 1 after the other) to all visitors of my website. I've got the custom audience setup. But I can't see how to sequentially retarget my ads to this custom audience. I setup an ad group, targeting this custom audience (all website visitors), and in that ad group I have numerous ads. But, I forsee a problem... I'm not sure if FB is setup in a way to show just ONE AD of those numerous ads to my custom audience, or show them all one after the other. (I want to show them all one after the other) If sequential retargeting is not possible, I want to at least make sure that ALL those ads in that ad set are shown to this custom audience and not just one or two of them which are 'most relevant'. Is it correct to setup numerous ads in that one ad set? (if FB is set to deliver them all to my custom audience) OR Is it correct to split up those ads into separate ad sets, so to make sure all those ads are delivered to my custom audience? please counsel.
I think the bigger question is... Do you have any data that says this 25 - 30 ads will be worth the time and energy to set it all up? Are you converting people to customers with 1 ad yet? I would start there. Often times people build out hugely complex systems that are totally untested... I like going one step at a time... First ad to opt in... then ad to opt in with OTO, then retargeting to opt in, etc. Build it incrementally and only create what is absolutely required.... What you are trying to do here makes my head spin and is not something I'd ever attempt, so I have no clue how it would work.
Hey Miles - looking at the exclusions in this. If you exclude people that have engaged with a Page Post or an Ad...does that mean that they won't see any other of my advertisements that I have running? OR, is it possible to exclude people that have engaged on a specific ad (so they don't keep seeing the same one) but they can see anything else you have running. Thanks in advance Miles as always :)
excluding people who engage is fan page wide… I have not seen how to break this down on a single ad. But that's actually what I want, people who don't engage with anything of mine on Facebook are the only ones I want to see Michael traffic ads
Miles Beckler Nice! So basically all of your ads right now are dark posts with a lead conversion goal right? I literally tried any ad type and the only one that somehow works is a dark post.
Miles, if you were running an ad campaign to generate leads for a gym (free 7 days or something), would you run a conversion campaign for leads, a conversion campaign based on view content, or just a PPC traffic campaign? I'm probably gonna get around 15 leads per week. Any advice is appreciated brother!
Hey there, not sure if you will respond to this but I wanted to know when I should start retargetting. At the moment my pixel says my audience only consists of 1000, and this was for all website traffic. Any specific pages were way too small for facebook to create a custom lookalike audience.
1k from the same country should be good for a lookalike audience... but you may need more. Once you get to 5k, retargeting with $5/day would make sense. Keep digging for interests, they are out there! I am in a very obscure niche with some super small ones I've found.
Hi Miles, would a cart abandonment conversion be able to be setup in clickfunnels with a 2 step order form? I don't remember seeing a cart url for fb to track. Thx
Hey Miles! Thank you so much for all your videos! I actually think that you content is the reason I am going to be able to buy your course soon ;) But one thing I didn't really understand yet, also you don't show it in this video .. How can I actually track and retarget people who have just seen one specific ad? I guess I can't just create a custom conversion with my shop´s url because then I would target everyone, or is there another way? Maybe Analytics? Many thanks!
Hey Miles, another incredible video! So from what you said there - if I wanted to run a conversion optimised campaign to a specific country (UK) to a target demo that is our exact age target (18-25) - would I leave the detailed targeting wide open to let FBs machine learning AI to find people for me? OR, is this only possible wen you are regathering and have a lot of data points like website views etc - for context, just imagine my site had zero views and I wanted to set up a conversion based campaign. Thanks!
I would add on an interest that clearly identifies your target market… Then I believe the age range open. So if you're selling "Manchester United sucks" shirts, focusing on people who like their nemesis, whether that's the Tottenham Hotspur's, or whoever... You need some psychological identifier at the interest level to prove that the audience is interested in what you're talking about. Hope you're not a Man U fan or is that, just exploded on me ha ha
I'm an Arsenal fan ha ha So I should run a number of different ad sets with different interests and keep testing until something sticks? Thanks again buddy!
Hi Miles. My friend has a shopify store and a facbook page that is linkt to the store so i want to advertise for him on facebook, can i advertise or do a need to be a admin to his facebook page that is linkt to the shopify store?
hey Miles! awesome vid! is there any way I can reuse an Instagram post like you did with the FB one? So far I only was able to reuse my fb post and keep the likes and comments of them but it didn't work with IG posts. Thank you!
Hahaha... And with a 24 hour cookie, that is how Amazon is leveraging the efforts of a MASSIVE affiliate network for traffic and maximizing their profits at the same time. Part of why I'm not all in on Amazon's affiliate program as a main monetization strategy.
+Travelvids Udemy uses a Linkshare cookie, tho... Those would be 30 or 60 days... So as long as Udemy isn't using an affiliate link as a retargeting cookie, that could benefit you... Key words are 'as long as' and 'could'.... lol.
+Miles Beckler they are using an affiliate link. We sent a discount code to a Cape Town based student and they used a udemy link at the same price. Udemy has been great for a proof of concept and we have made sales. Going to move to teachable with out high ticket course. PS how do fancy taking our course Miles. Will send you a free pass for all the great advice we have received from you.
No time for me to take a course.... But keep pushing forward! Great to prove the model and I know many Udemy course creators who are building out their own funnels/sales systems to get out from under Udemy.
I always start with the data. I've reused one ad in hundreds of different add sets because it continues to work. I test the text, the image, the headline… And just test, test, test
Hi Miles, Amazing info as usual. You are appreciated. You given me the confidence to go out there and position myself in my niche as the go to Facebook Ads guy. Quick question which you may have answered previously. How do you make your youtube videos? What tools are you using and how do you get that picture in picture effect when showing us your screen. Thanks once again.
Pretty much... There are some ways to retarget your email list and customer list without cookies, but most people just think of the cookie based audiences.
Miles Beckler since you are answering anyway. I have a question no one on the internet could help me with yet. I have put three button event codes on my product page (I have three buttons here that I want to track) but they are offline events because they don't go to a new URL I can track so. They do work I can see that on the pixel helper but my question is how do I track these within the Facebook manager or if I run an ad ?
Wow... at least you don't have a rediculously difficult question! hhahahaha... So honestly, I don't know. Do users opt in before seeing the product page with 3 buttons? Or, is that the page they go to after clicking? What is the next step after those buttons? How do you track it from there? Phone call with a sales person? If you track beyond that event on the button in analytics already, could you just use an analytics UTM url for your FB ads or one per interest to get the data you need out of FB into Analytics and view it there? Last resort would be using a spreadsheet (which I do still) and pull the numbers out of the different systems and crunch them in a spreadsheet. It sucks, but I don't trust FB's numbers, lol. So I use an affiliate link for my shopping cart and a separate funnel for FB to track FB conversions outside of FB.
Hi Miles Beckler, No they don't opt int. I run an affiliate marketing website and would like to send quality traffic to my website via facebook ads. Two of the three buttons will lead to the retailers website where they can purchase the product, but it's impossible to do a custom conversion because the button click goes to another website (i tested it). The third button is add to wishlist which is added on the same page (not going to a new page). So for these kind of conversions i had to add javascript (you can see the code here developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-pixel/events-advanced-use-cases/v2.9). But i don't know how to track these clicks if i would say for example run a website conversion ad. Hope you can help me out with this one. If you don't know it i might lose my hope in facebook advertising haha. Thomas
Ummmm... no it's not Miles, it was merged with Ads manager in the new version, still available on chrome browers in the old Ads manager version, ANYWAY, love your stuff, have watched hours and hours of your videos and top of the bus young Miles! keep up the good work! By the way that "law of attraction" bullshit is ACTUALLY TRUE!!
Dude you have the most clear and step by step fb ads guide ever on TH-cam

That is at the ad set level and at this point it is 50 conversions per week... Facebook came out very clearly stating 50 per week Pratt set
Thanks! that's helpful
Would you use the same ad creative, copy and offer when you retarget for example those who added to cart but didn’t purchase?
I'd probably switch it up to a '3 reasons why' ad

Excellent... If you are getting 2-3$ PER Sign up conversion, when you are selling a 20$ product, that's pretty bad right?
It depends on what your conversion rate is from sign up to sale... How much are you paying for each new customer is the big question....

Hello Miles
If an ad is making great conversion, do I have to follow this steps in order to prevent my new subscribers seen the ad again?
Hey miles how did you create the engagement custom audience. I understand on the audiences you can create "people who have engaged with my post/ad" but i thought this creates a group which includes people who have already engaged. Therefore anyone new engaging with an ad wont automatically fall into this group when the new ad is running?
Great question... I'll probably make a video on this. But it is super simple... From in the ads manager, go to Audiences -> Create Audience -> Engagement on Facebook
Thanks Miles, great video as always! Could you pls talk about how to scale up FB ads in the future video? Thanks🙏🏻
I'm going to do a follow up to this about how I analyze the numbers and 'what to do next' whether it is scale, turn off, etc. Should be up tomorrow.
Miles, can I run Conversions campaign differently, not just for retargeting? What else would work? A train of thanks in advance :)
Absolutely... All of my campaigns that are focused on interests or look alike audiences are conversion campaigns. Just happened to be setting up a retargeting ad when I decided to record a new ad setup update here.
Dude could you show your shopify dashboard sometimes it'll help us gauge as how successful you are with methodologies you post ?
I don't do anything on shopify mate...
doesn't matter, i thought you'd get my point !
No income reports here... They are bad for your health!
My wife and I do pretty well.
great video! using $5 i see reach only: 15-75 is that ok? i did retargeting of people who viewed my product page in past 15 days, i see the size less than 1000.
The limitation is probably not your budget but your audience size. it's a start but you want to be sure and grow your audiences

For exclusions through e-mail, do you have to periodically update the same list before you include it into facebook ad or is it also automated as well?
+Nha Chi Nguyen if you start with an uploaded list, yes. If you base it off a custom audience on the pixel data it will update automatically
In the ad, there is a text link that says "Use existing post" ...Just click that and add the post ID from the ad you want to use.
I have done that, but my add was duplicated anyway.
What if you are just starting out, and have, lets say 2k people who didn't complete the action. If you re-target, too soon, your frequency will sky rocket (although can be clamped), should you wait till you have 10's of thousands or just immediately re-target and limit the frequency?
Just monitor your frequency and turn it off when it hits a point you are uncomfortable. If you wait too long, they forget about you.

THAT is a great resource! Thank you!
(I want to show them all one after the other)
If sequential retargeting is not possible, I want to at least make sure that ALL those ads in that ad set are shown to this custom audience and not just one or two of them which are 'most relevant'.
Is it correct to setup numerous ads in that one ad set? (if FB is set to deliver them all to my custom audience)
OR
Is it correct to split up those ads into separate ad sets, so to make sure all those ads are delivered to my custom audience?
please counsel.
Miles, What specifically does the 7-Day click mean?
Hey Miles - looking at the exclusions in this. If you exclude people that have engaged with a Page Post or an Ad...does that mean that they won't see any other of my advertisements that I have running? OR, is it possible to exclude people that have engaged on a specific ad (so they don't keep seeing the same one) but they can see anything else you have running. Thanks in advance Miles as always :)
excluding people who engage is fan page wide… I have not seen how to break this down on a single ad. But that's actually what I want, people who don't engage with anything of mine on Facebook are the only ones I want to see Michael traffic ads
Miles, amazing video as always! Is the original post you used as your ad a dark post, or a public post on Melanie's fan page?
Great question... It is a dark post... It started as an ad from a campaign a few months ago...
Conversion
Miles Beckler conversion being lead or view content? As I'm only getting around 15 leads per week
Thx
I don't use clickfunnels, check with their support.
Only way is if it is a video ad or if they engage with the ad... Most all retargeting is based on their actions on your site...
Thanks a lot! @@MilesB
how to target specific Facebook Group members? Is there any tricks...
That is exactly my approach.
Hi Miles.
My friend has a shopify store and a facbook page that is linkt to the store
so i want to advertise for him on facebook, can i advertise or do a need to be a admin to his facebook page that is linkt to the shopify store?
Setup business.facebook.com and you can manage their ad account.
do you have a video with step by step on how to do this? ty
It is broken up in many vids on my channel
hey Miles! awesome vid! is there any way I can reuse an Instagram post like you did with the FB one? So far I only was able to reuse my fb post and keep the likes and comments of them but it didn't work with IG posts. Thank you!
Not sure, I don't run my ads on Instagram
ok, thanks for the fast reply!
Amazon retargeted me on their site for the Aero coffee maker, but without your affiliate link.
Hahaha... And with a 24 hour cookie, that is how Amazon is leveraging the efforts of a MASSIVE affiliate network for traffic and maximizing their profits at the same time.
Part of why I'm not all in on Amazon's affiliate program as a main monetization strategy.
Also suffering the same problem on udemy!
Eastern Oregon?...
Central! :D Bend for the 4th and to get some work done on my Jeep! Absolutely beautiful here this time of year!!!
whats your process for breaking a successful ad down how many times do you duplicate and what aspects are you breaking down?
I always start with the data. I've reused one ad in hundreds of different add sets because it continues to work. I test the text, the image, the headline… And just test, test, test
Where can you find out what interests your audience has?
Power Editor is now Ads Manager...correct?
What strategy do you recommend for small local business to implement with Facebook retargeting?
Hi Miles, Amazing info as usual. You are appreciated. You given me the confidence to go out there and position myself in my niche as the go to Facebook Ads guy. Quick question which you may have answered previously. How do you make your youtube videos? What tools are you using and how do you get that picture in picture effect when showing us your screen. Thanks once again.
Screencast-o-matic
retargeting ads are just cooking ads right?
Pretty much... There are some ways to retarget your email list and customer list without cookies, but most people just think of the cookie based audiences.
Do you ever have a winning ad with only 1 specific interest?
all the time
Nice Green screen Miles hahaha joking
Hahahaha... #WaitForIt #WaitForIt
...Whaddya think the over-under is for comments about my greenscreen in the first 24 hours?
hahahaha.
Hi Miles Beckler,
No they don't opt int.
If you don't know it i might lose my hope in facebook advertising haha.

power editor is gone Miles!
Ummmm... The Power Editor is still there on my account.
Ummmm... no it's not Miles, it was merged with Ads manager in the new version, still available on chrome browers in the old Ads manager version, ANYWAY, love your stuff, have watched hours and hours of your videos and top of the bus young Miles! keep up the good work! By the way that "law of attraction" bullshit is ACTUALLY TRUE!!
