His father didn't try to kill him, he had Post Traumatic Stress disorder. PTSD makes the person confused and causes the person to halucinate or believe they are somewhere else traumatic or dangerous, when they're not really in danger.

@@hcmontessori It's truly a terrifying experience for everyone. I've never threatened or hurt anyone, but when my daughter was about 7, she snuck into our room and tried to quietly get into our bed. I woke up in a complete adrenalin fueled PTSD confusion and rage. I frantically looked for a weapon (I didn't own any at the time for good reason) and was breathing extremely heavily. My wife I guess was yelling at me, but it took me nearly 30sec to come to. My poor daughter was terrified, and no matter how many apologies I do, I know she, or I, will never forget it.

We are so quick to judge people for their actions. we don't see what's behind the curtain. You never know what people deal with from day to day. Shia is a great actor and even a better human being. He struggled with certain things but he wants to be a better person from it all. He takes responsibility for his actions and is more of man than half the people in Hollywood and this world. I respect the hell out of him!

IMO he’s a great actor and would love to see him again in movies. With his awful upbringing it’s no wonder he has mental issues. I hope he gets well and thrives.

But his life has not ended up as a tragedy. It may have been when he was a kid and young adult, which seems so obvious to have happened because his early life was so bad. Couple that with being extremely sensitive and you have one angry and confused kid. (I've heard it said that anger, for a man, is sadness in disguise.) He has truly found faith and relationship with God, and he is a new man. I'd say that is a triumph - not a tregedy.

It's not the branch a bird carefully chooses, it must first learn to trust it's wings and only then is it unstoppable!!!

I wouldn't hang around him, actor or otherwise. Sounds dangerous for women or vulnerable people, though I'm glad he's trying to better himself. Ultimately self-destructive.

He's angry and can't abuse anyone without being punished for his behavior and he hates it. He wants desperately to be a bully, but society keeps spanking him. He will either end up in prison or the grave, unless he can get over his desire to hurt others. It's eating him alive, and every time he acts out, publicly, he's spanked immediately. He seems to be furious that he can't get away with being a jerk, like other celebrities.
    This is actually quite funny.

classic example of having natural acting skills / abilities and a serious mental issue in the background.

I find it annoying that all these attention-seeking spoiled brats in Hollywood create a tragic back story to justify acting like a jerk.
