Matthew, i made this the other day. I used lemon and orange zest because i didnt have lemon extract. I also used vanilla and almond essence. This recipe is amazing, everything came out SO good. It was so easy to follow. 2 days later and the rolls are still soft. I left it on the countertop in a container. I dont know why other ppls recipe is so complicated sometimes when it could be so simple. Thank you!!!!! This will be a regular in my home now :) you are awesome
Matthew I made this today, it came out awesome and tasted super delicious, I did not have the essence but I added some almond essence along with the zest of an orange, the smell was phenomenal. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Matthew, l love your videos. I have to say though, I heated my electric oven to 325 degrees and bake for 16 minutes. It was awesome delicious. Just one question, I would like to know what ingredients do you need to put in the dough so we get that tennis roll scent. delicious tennis rolls scent. Thank you.
Hello Mathew, thank for sharing your delicious recipes, i just try the tennis roll, I got the flavour , I bake It on 350 degree on electric oven and it got very brown before it's cook, need your advice, thank you kindly, Reeya
Hi Matthew, I love those tennis role buns, grew up eating those but recently had the whole wheat tennis role bun, tastes exactly like the original but much lighter. Can you show the whole wheat version. Thanks. Love your cooking show!
Gotcha! Thank you for sharing your tradition. Remember Guyana is a place full of many people, each family having their own traditions. We usually have plait bread or tennis rolls. There are some Guyanese folks that don't know about anise bread...
Hi Matthew I tried your tennis roll and it came out nice and soft. However I put 2 tbsp sugar but in yur recipe u have 1/4 cup sugar. But u put 2 tablespoon ? Can u advise on this?
Matthew, I tried the recipe twice and the rolls are only really soft when they are warm. The next day, they get relatively hard. Any ideas on how to fix that?
Did you leave them sitting out? Once they cool they need to be stored in a ziplock or airtight container. I’ve not had that issue unless I leave them out
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 yeah, as soon as they are cool I put them in a gallon ziplock. I can't figure it out. Maybe because I used salted butter instead of unsalted?
@@TheElement230 I am not too sure why that happened. It is not the salted butter (I have used unsalted butter and salted butter sticks, golden creme margarine, stick margarine, and even Country Crocket or "I can't believe it's not butter"). Where are you located, sometimes the climate makes everything drier. Also, make sure you're making the dough soft enough and that you're measuring everything with measuring spoons and cups. Also, make sure you aren't over baking them. Definitely keep practicing. It is such a delicious recipe and one that I hope you will enjoy

do you have an average for how much flour you use in grams (or ounces if you don't have a gram scale)?

Thank you! I use salted to brush on top but you can use any

I added 1/2 of the sugar to the yeast (which is 2 tbsp) and I added the rest into the actual flour. So it totaled to 1/4 cup
Oh ok thanks . Keep up the good work sharing your recipes . Thanks
Will definitely make this soon, maybe for Thanksgiving as a side🙂
Hope you try and enjoy! This would be the perfect addition

Hi Mathew, happy holidays fam....is magic baking powder a substitute for yeast .thanks man
Happy Holidays to you too! Baking powder is not a substitute because it will not make the bread nice and stretchy and fluffy. It will be more dense.
Yummy 😋
They were amazing
