I love Microbrands now. They have taken over Seiko, Citizen and Orient's place in the watch world, when it comes to best bang-for-your-buck. Things like sapphire, and proper alignment are basically standard in all microbrands (especially in the price-range where these big companies leave out such features.
I'm not sure I understand calling out another company for copying this watch and not supporting that practice, when this watch itself is a copy of a GS watch (at least from the standpoint of general design cues). I haven't tried the Escapement Time or Chameri version yet, but I'm glad to see some GS designs ideas making it to affordable watches. I'm also not convinced that all other reviewers who recieve paid or discounted watches provide anything less than an honest review. However, they do have the advantage overall of experience with more than just a personal collection as they evaluate quality for price compared to a much larger segment of the market. I run into this issue in my own reviews and collecting. Even though I have far more watches than the average person does, a personal collection (vs having access to a continual source of watches) is a limiting factor in really guaging where a piece sits in the market. Just as you say you won't buy the Chameri....what would be more valueable is someone that has both and can express why the Escapement Time commands a higher price when they look similar on the surface and use the same movement on the inside.
It's based on the King Seiko general design but it's actually not based only on any one model. There are several unique decisions made for this watch, like having a blued second hand for example. Also, Seiko does not make KS watches with this visual style anymore, meaning this is about the closest you can get new. I don't think anyone should support Chameri because they are hurting the bottom line of a small, seemingly quite passionate micro brand, which is wrong. Fact is, ET was the ONLY one making this watch until another brand saw this watch blow up, and then decided to knock it off COMPLETELY.
I have the smaller version of this watch which I changed the strap on as well. I think it is a brilliant watch and a real value for money. If you like the looks of these, get one.
I can see many of "reviewers" post daily reviews. Some.guy with over 100k subscribe posts even 3 videos per day. Now tell me how can they review something honestly while they have just received some watch?
EscapementTime and Chameri are NOT microbrands. They are both just brands invented for a factory. AFAIK they're probably THE SAME factory making a new revision of mostly THE SAME watch.
Lets be honest - someone took existing replica and put their brand name on it. Calling this a micro brand is slightly overstating things. This is perfectly normal in the watch world and has been for hundreds of years. And now they are selling at 3x the price they were before and someone else is buying from the same manufacturer and is selling for the old price..

And after all that you ended up praising it just like everyone else, fascinating. Good thing you also mentioned how your only complaint, the size, is no longer an issue because there is a 35mm version available for sale. Oh wait you didn't.
@@marcelwatchenthusiast5438 I would recommend to swap the dial with a common Seiko dial for nh35 caliber. the case is a tribute to th original, should have the seiko name on it. I am going to do this mod in a few weeks.
The Chameri isn't a copy of this watch, it's the exact same watch just with a different name. Same as Addiesdive and Steeldive. Everything is made in the exact same factory.
Actually they are not identical. The Chameri is slightly thicker and heavier. Even the casebacks, with the Chameri weighing a couple of grams more. "I like Watches" has a side-by-side comparison for those interested.
I was under the impression Escapement Time was a one-man operation. The parts may be sourced from the same Chinese factories, but as I understand it he assembles them by hand.

OEM's make slight adjustments in design from time to time. the escapement time is likely a 2nd versions, while the chimari grabbed the V1 case for a slight discount. I have the Chimari in for review and can compare it to the smaller escapement time. I do think the Chimari is a great value, and so is the E.T. there IS a difference in quality between my 2 though, with the ET being ever so slightly nicer. it all comes down to the strap, and QC.
I would buy the Chimera over the Escapement Time because the name sounds like a name a legitimate company would use, while the Escapement Time name sounds like something you would find in a McDonald's happy meal or the prize in a box of Cracker Jacks.

As long as the Chinese watch a are using Seiko or myota movements then these watches are as good in reliability as their Japanese counterparts.
