Glad to know that I can work at least PT while pursuing a PhD. But I will be working as a therapist. I am figuring this out. Thank you so much for your help. Congratulations on your success. You seem to be almost done!
Phil, great message. I like your routine, and your focus. I'm looking at getting into this type of practice aswell, more for helping men with sex addiction. God is putting this in me to help others, so I am welcoming the challenge. Your channel will help keep me motivated.
Hi Phil! Thanks for sharing, your videos are helping me decide my Career path. Question, how doable is this with a job and a family in your honest opinion? Thank you in advance and congratulations you’re almost there!!
Very doable depending on the person!! I've seen lots of people in the Psyd program have part-time jobs and multiple kids get through the program. It depends on how flexible the part-time job is, due to having to schedule working hours around school and clinical time but many students typically have part-time jobs. As for family and children, also doable but a lot of is dependent on time management, discipline, etc. I've never seen anyone with a full-time job and be a full-time student, that isn't recommended by most professors and faculty or even students.
Hi @isabellacontreras8727 I became a personal trainer through the American Council of Exercise (ACE) and became certified and use an app that clients can download and use for working out on their own, all the workouts I make personally for them. If wanting to know more feel free to message me at pkssarpong@gmail.com or on instagram at "philsguidetopsyd"
The app is actually an app that personal trainers use to train their clients. The company is called Trainerize. If interested in learning more shoot me an email at pkssarpong@gmail.com !
Hi there Phil! I am a student pursuing my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I wanted to know if after completion of my graduate program, I can do my PhD in clinical psychology and since I do not have my masters in the same, how challenging would/could it be to be shifting more towards the neurological realm. I would also like to understand if there is any particular concentration I should be taking if I plan on doing my PhD in CP. Thanks in advance for the response. Appreciate the help
Shifting towards neurological/neuropsychological is doable for most students with a masters in clinical mental health counseling, but yest there are many PhD programs who accept students with those masters degrees too. Depending on what type of psychologist you want to be you can look for schools with certain concentrations like neuro or health psychology. Hope that helps!
That seems like a great combination! It's always great to get advice to from the clinicians you'd one day like to be and see what they majored in to help themselves get to where they are today

Hello, what are your thoughts in combining a BA in counseling psychology with a masters in neuroscience?
That seems like a great combination! It's always great to get advice to from the clinicians you'd one day like to be and see what they majored in to help themselves get to where they are today
do you have any advice for studying for the COMPS D:
Great question!!! Comps for my cohort mimicked the EPPP so I did a TON of EPPP questions and that helped a lot! Hope that's helpful!
