I used this video last week to help give me confidence going into my PsyD interview. Strangely enough they never even said, "tell me about yourself". The panel said we reviewed your letter and your resume and would like you to elaborate on your experiences. Additionally, we would like to ask questions to make sure this program is a good fit for you. The panel introduced themselves and then they started asking questions. Share with them your experiences and have stories that highlight the things that are important to you in the field. This video covered 95% of those questions. For everyone that has an interview coming up, being yourself will pay off big time. They already like what they see if they have called you in for an interview. Just show them who you are. I found out yesterday I was selected for the program. Thank you so much! 🙏
I’m not applying for a PsychD program but a related field and your video was incredibly helpful. I could listen to you talk all day long! Thanks for the tips
Searching for "difficult psychological questions designed to trip you up in a pre-hiring psych evaluation" seems to only yield a bunch of videos of "tips and tricks to do during your interview in order to guarantee you get hired" and videos of people recommending what questions to ask your interviewer immediately after an interview 🙄 This video is almost exactly what I was looking for - it may not have been made for quite the same purpose, but I am fairly certain that these questions are going to be the ones they'll be asking during the evaluation! Thank you for posting quality helpful content. I would think this video would have hundreds of comments for how well done and informative it is. For some reason it's easier to be spoon fed information via a youtube at 3am rather than research things online at a normal hour 😂
Using this guide to help me this month! I'm a little nervous because the interviews are on zoom and I present better in person. Also, any tips on how to do group interviews?
Great question!!! Honestly, after doing some zoom interviews myself in getting into PsyD school I applied all the same tips. Of course it's a lot harder to get to know the faculty while on screen or even get a feel for the school while doing a virtual interview, bring your questions to those who are already students in the program. They will probably be the most honest, candid, and clear with you about the school and the expectations, that's what helped me a lot! I actually found it a lot easier on zoom/group interviews to ask questions because I would have my list of questions pulled up on my screen rather than having to look down on my notes in person. If you show that you are genuinely interested in the program and getting to the know the faculty I'm sure you'll do great! I hope that helps.
Group interviews can be scary! Sometimes there might be one or two students who dominate the group and ask a lot of the questions but don't be afraid to speak up and if there are multiple people interviewing you try and give each one of them your undivided attention when they are speaking (also hard to do on screen vs in person). I'm sure you'll do great, best of luck! I'll see if I can do a video on group interviews in the future!

I find it really helpful and I really like your background music. Could I ask which sound track do you use for this video?
I'll try and find it and put it in the notes section, thanks!

Students sometimes shadow a clinical psychologist and that helps them determine if it's worth it
