Everyone has responsibilities to bare during the Final arc of My Hero, but Endeavor might have the most, with his battles against All for One and Dabi. We’ve gone over how All for One manipulated Endeavor’s mind throughout their final battle leading to Endeavor at first getting taken care of really easily, but when Jirou manages to save Hawks and the group buys enough time for Endeavor to get back in the fight with his head in the game, Endeavor manages to fly back JUST in time to save Jiro, Tokoyami and Hawks from an attack by All for One that sent Tendrils ALL over the battlefield which would’ve pierced our heroes all over, however instead Endeavor takes the full force of the attack without his flames just using his hands, but unfortunately for him one of his arms wasn’t quick enough, allowing all for One’’s tendrils to completely tear it off, as Endeavor ignores this and uses the last of his power to CONTROL the fire near the stub of his arm and send it crashing into All for One anyway, because that’s just the kind of hero he is.

To reiterate my original comment, I always feel bad whenever Enji’s arc comes up, simply because I don’t see in it what everyone else does. And this scene is probably the best example of that. Enji stepping up as he hero everyone needs honestly feels like the polar opposite of atoning since being a great hero has roughly nothing to do with his family’s situation. Him giving it his all while fighting AFO just felt like the story was going “he would atone and confront Toya, but he’s doing this instead.” The only thing I kind of liked was Enji admitting that he hates himself. But it still doesn’t pay off really since all he’s really been doing since his speech about atoning is just continue to fight villains under a new change of heart with very little action to back up his words about how sorry he is. That introspection bit he has feels so unearned as a result since the responsibility and atoning he has to carry out until the end has barely even started. Had he died there, I would’ve been even more disappointed since he never delivered on the atonement or on the responsibility to his family. Just his responsibility as a hero. All in all, it feels like Enji’s arc has become words without any action to back them up (unless you count being the no.1 hero as atoning, which I don’t since the connection is really flimsy). Like, Enji’s actions during the villain hunt arc and his fight with AFO feel like a waste of time for his character since the logical place for it to go would be a confrontation with Toya. But instead he’s just doing what he would’ve done before his arc, just under a new change of heart. And to me, that’s such a lame way to write a character.

@@helck1153 Tbh, I'm attempting to see who disagrees and why. I really want to find out the core reasons why people like Enji's character so I can find out if I'm missing something or not. So I'm just laying my thoughts out.

@You Tube Ok,well. It's brought up multiple times in Manga that Endevor wants to confront Toya(and eventually gets too!!) But he can't just ignore All for One as the #1 Hero. That would be putting his feelings above what is needed
@@helck1153 I'm aware of that, but it's not my point. I know that it makes sense for Enji to have to put stopping AFO over Toya, but like I said, it's the story basically saying “he would atone and confront Toya, but he’s doing this instead because he just can't do that right now," which again, is such a narratively unsatisfying way to write a character. And this would sit better with me if his confrontation with Toya hasn't been so half-assed. I'm still holding out hope that his arc can still at least end on a high note since his confrontation with Toya hasn't ended yet, but the fact that he didn't even seek Toya out and had to be backed into a corner for this confrontation to happen (as well as a bunch of other stuff that happened in the last few chapters) has definitely not helped my opinions on Enji's arc unfortunately.

I actually in some cases respect Endeavor's tenacity to get shit done more that All MIght's storyline as even though he's not as strong as he is, it's the sheer willpower to take any little advantage he can and turning disadvantages into those same advantages and that is just beautiful to see.
Endeavor went from being someone who wasn’t really deserving of his #2 imo…. To being fully deserving of greatest hero equal to All Might.

The pattern with Endeavor is that he always gives it his all when fighting villains and never giving up on winning a fight. Unfortunately, his pattern is also giving the bare minimum and gives up easily with everything else.

Sure but unlike but unlike Deku Endeavor is the only one there able to fight him head on and doesn’t have half the top 10 heroes backing him up
Deku would be fighting against at the time a powerhouse he outclasses with multiple teammates while negging Shigarakis quirks if he had been there at the start Shigaraki wouldn’t have been able to keep up and likely would be captured
Afo however was still a powerhouse of a threat and with the rewind a bigger threat than Quirkless Shigaraki was
@@linkmaster253 Dude this isn’t about opinion…… This is about responsibility, Just because he said the main character has the most responsibility (which I think he does) doesn’t mean he’s basic, Deku is fighting the most important villain right now. So him having the most responsibility makes the most Sense (Also Shigaraki is more important than All for One because his body is the most important thing for All for One and without it All for One would lose)

Seeing him try to accept his faults (albeit irredeemable), and make amends with his family, all while doing his best to become the best number 1 hero he can be, makes me root for him to win.

I mean it really depends on what he actually can do to atone for what he’s done in the past. In order to do that, everyone in the todoroki family will have to actually give him the opportunity and time of day for him to atone by action on a family standpoint. Let’s not forget that everyone except Fuyumi still has extreme disdain or large amounts of PTSD from him. Shoto is still a big question mark b/c he acknowledges Enji’s strength as a hero, but Enji being a father is still an afterthought for Shoto. I understand how you feel but in fairness to Enji, even the smallest acts of him trying to be fatherly or nice to his family, has never went well for him. They either reject his emotions outright (Natsuo) or don’t truly believe 100% (Rei and Shoto). In order for a father to atone for what he has did in the past, the family has to also make an effort to let him back into their lives. If they are unable to do so as a whole, then yeah, ofc his atonement as a father to his family will forever be stagnant but that’s genuinely not his fault atp. He can’t rewind time and stop himself from doing what he did in the past. However, I think Enji’s arc of being a hero can bridge the gap imo. Before, Enji was a hero more in a way of just wanting to be the strongest and was power hungry, obsessed and cruel. How he treated his family was a byproduct of how his character and mannerisms were as a hero on a day to day basis. All might instilled not only protection, but also hope, courage, happiness, confidence and safety to the people he saved and ran across on a daily basis. Literally saving with a smile. Endeavor is the polar opposite. He guaranteed protection based off his strength, but that was literally it. That’s the most important part of being a hero yes, but that’s not the only reason why All Might was number one, especially post injury vs. all for one first go around. If Endeavor keeps proving as a hero that he projects more than just strength but also genuinely cares about people on a more personal level like All Might genuinely did, I think his family would see that and slowly but surely give him the opportunity to truly atone. I think Shoto is seeing that and accepting that first hand.

I love Eri a lot, but I do think her even remotely gaining control of her quirk, does lessen stakes. There's nothing preventing Eri from eventually giving Enji his arm back. But for now, thats brutal.

You know Endeavor has finally reached his goal of reaching or possibly even surpassing All Might, given that he was able to drive All For One to try his hardest and actually made him recognize that he was in very real danger. He even thought about how Endeavor was pushing him closer to reliving the humiliation of defeat that he felt after All Might beat him.

It's cool how heroes with desteuctive powers as fatal as endavor manage to use those desteuctive properties to preserve instead of destroy
I’ll be completely honest, I really dislike this moment in the series. Enji is not of those characters that works less and less for me the further the series goes on and the more I think about him. His arc is easily my least favorite part of My Hero (and tbh, he’s really the only aspect of My Hero that I actively dislike). And that makes me very sad since I used to love his character.
As for why I dislike this moment, Enji figuratively killing his past self really sours one of my formerly favorite aspects about him, which is accepting that he’ll never be able to live down his past. I know the point was that he was supposed to be confronting his past directly, but it feels so empty imo since fighting AFO ultimately contributes nothing to his arc since he’s not proving how much he’s changed and atoning, he’s simply just being a strong pro hero. If anything it takes away from his arc since it delays his confrontation with Toya. I would probably like this moment a lot more if he was fighting Toya and it culminated in him talking to him (or something of that nature), but as it stands, it really reinforces how little of an impact Enji has made as a character. The only thing that I really like about this scene is how sinister AFO is. I do like that Enji admits that he hates himself, but like most of his arc, it feels less genuine, and more like self-pity in hindsight.

You know If endeavor or any other hero finds his arm in the forest then that means he can go to the doctor and get his arm reattached so there’s hope for endeavor and the same for Jiro since hers also in the forest or maybe her earphone jacks can regenerate because in the exam arc jiro got hit with the earphone jack and it healed after the exam so maybe her earphone jacks can regenerate like Shigaraki.
