And the middle and upper class in Argentina is much much larger. Your video is quite informative. However, what you and a lot of people ignore or refuse to see is that, the food of Angola was not only influenced by Protugal it shaped portuguese cuisine. Hi Melissa, thanks dear friend for your attention about traveling experience. I'm shaju from Bangladesh, I'm a readymade garment business men. I'm interested to travel to Angola, and you can tell me about how can business develop there.
I must call out, to you is you put Brazil before angola. And completely ignored the fact that slavery happened. The reason why the cuisine is similar is because of the tribes that were taking in the transatlantic slave trade, those people groups brought their recipes and cooking techniques with them. Among the major countries during the transatlantic slave trade was Angola, Gabon, Nigeri,a Congo and Ghana... Which is why the food systems tend to overlap especially if you compare to Brazilian, Caribbean and even African-American food styles and flavor profiles. I think it's an important piece that you should certainly add because it removes the colonial ignorance from your rhetoric.
Melissa. There is poverty everywhere. There is an ENORMOUS amount of violence in the United States. There are people who make over 100k US dollars and are homeless. There are people who do not feel safe there. Not even children from other children. It's heartbreaking. There are places in the US that has trash in the streets and it stinks so bad. There is so much poverty in lots of places, but people are considerate enough to show the good parts of the country that they appreciate instead of showing videos that look like unicef propaganda. That is not to negate the fact that there is poverty in Angola like all places around the world. The company that built your development, was it an Angolan company or foreign? There are plenty of people in Angola who live in houses built by Angolans and do not experience the issues mentioned in your video. The food you described is not traditional Angolan food. Btw...Portuguese and Brazilian foods are delicious. There are places there that are not surrounded by the poverty shown in your video. Living there for 4 years or less while working in a company that provides you with the basics does not make you an expert or informed enough to make such videos to illustrate things there. Try using words such, "my experience in ...". I do agree that life there is generally hard.
Waw! You worked in Angola? Have you asked yourself how many Angolan citizens have been allowed to work in the US? Did you know Angolan students in the US are not allowed to work ? however Angolan students in American universities have to pay 3X higher tuitions than American students do. One of the reasons Angolans are poor it is because they don't charge people like yourself extra money like you charge them in your country. I am sure your kids paid the same tuition rate as Angolan kids in Angolan schools. It is even possible that your kids got free education in Angola. I am sure you would never show homeless Americans sleeping on the bridges on the winter snow all over American cities. You should have made a video talking about gun violence in Chicago and racism in America justice system.
Everyone has the same rules unless you are from the US, so stfu with your bullshit, and I know Angola very well, corruption and lazyness are a big issue and the influence of European politics and Chinese but keep ignoring it and finding excuses to blame everything on others.
I’d like to see Angola , interesting that American fast food have set up shop in Angola.Did you see Starbucks.. Poor Chinese building . Put up very cheaply.
Also instead of you guys getting upset at the video uploader for just reporting her experience, instead you guys should be furious at the corrupt Angolan government who is the cause for all of this from the wealth gap, poverty and lack of good infrastructure(and the good ones only for the affluent), prices, etc that's been going on since the Dos Santos government. And lets not forget a mixed Portuguese elite class... And bringing up poverty in the USA(who the average person in poverty is living better than the average person in Angola) is not going to solve this issue. The POVERTY rate for USA is $14,000 a YEAR. The poverty rate for Angola us $1.90 DAILY! And according to the World Bank 32.8% of the population is poor vs 11.5% for the USA. Also where are the SOCIAL programs for the poor in Angola? Where is Angola's homeless shelters? Or even food stamps? You guys are just upset that she shattered the DELUSIONS of Angola being this rich country in Africa. All I see is kneejerk reactions.
she talks about poverty, and yet was treated like a queen by the people. Looks like she takes advantage of the situation, and claims it was difficult for her because she had to see poor people.
Luanda is one of the most beautiful cities in Africa, and look what she starts with....the slums. Then she goes on to criticize the local food...forgetting the artificial, toxic GMO mess she left in the US...when will it stop!!!!

Hi Melissa I was born in Angola 🇦🇴 and I move to the United States since 1990 and I never went back to my country, tell me about your life experience, and thanks for sharing
Are there shaman is Angola ? And if so how can I find an ancient one when I get there ?
We, Argentinians, used to criticizing strongly our homeland. When I see other brothers from latam or Africa, I realize how subjective "good and bad" is.
I like the video :)
Thank you for watching
White content creators like demeaning africa. Watch content from black creators to understand the true picture. White content creators only talk about poverty in africa, you wonder why they never talk about homelessness back in the USA
@@janeulo4388 you are right, her perspective will always be biased, as everybody's. Though, the lack of information in many countries in Africa, the lack of stability and other stuff make me doubt. However, I'd love to know more, I like dif. Perspectives.
If you have time, there is an account called PPPeter, he travelled a lot throughout Africa and showed, to my eyes, terrible situations, you can enlighten me about that, I'd love your answer

Hey Melissa,
I´m Franco, currently in Argentina (Buenos Aires) and soon travelling for a few months to Angola. I´ll be mainly based in Luanda but will travel to the interior of Angola (Malanje, Quando Cubando, and so on). I watched your videos and they were really great and informative about what to expect.
I wanted to ask you about health recommendations for Angola. I already have the yellow fever vaccine, but i was wondering what other recommendations could you give (health related) to an expat going to Angola.
Anything related to Malaria fever? I´ve heard abour taking Doxycycline every day as a precaution. Is that something recommended? Is there anything else to do before or during my stay in Angola?
Thank you very much!
Hi, sent you an email :)
Are you liking the experience?
Hey I'm Argentinian too and also have intentions to visit Angola. How did it go?
Can you remebr the kg price for cucumbers and tomatoes?
Oil companies keep kicking us of our land that’s why the slums are so full, Exxon bought my grandmothers land for 120 hectors for 1,000 euros EXACTLY.. she refused but government approved it anyway through process that Exxon lobbied for. I hope one day the wealth spreads
WHY include a section on Poverty in Angola when TH-camrs do NOT include a section on Poverty in the U.S.A. or Argentina or any other country ?
Criticism in a good way...watching your videos is just a waste of time
Angolan food it's extremely delicious and just to make people aware that the way she explained how the food is made it's not really true, if you need to know more about our food please feel free to talk to me! There's a lot of poverty in Angola 🇦🇴 , everything is really expensive but what about the rest? It's always good to Google it to do a deep research about the country! America is no longer a safe country, the food it's terrible, etc. Everywhere you can find difficulties even in America there's a lot of poverty, I'm lucky enough to live in UK but Angola it's always the first destination for holidays, there's beautiful places to visit and the food once again it's delicious, the influence of Portuguese culinary it's what makes the food even better. 🙏🏾😇
Thanks for your feedback! I was only sharing my experience of living there for 3 years. Thanks for watching!
She is not even America, she is latin america, Argentina our something 🙄 and one is worst then other.
@@vivalda9632she’s not latin american. She is American, from the USA. She lived in Argentina as an expat (for work reasons) just like she did in Angola.
And as an Argentinian, let me tell you Argentina is nothing, absolutely nothing like Angola. Poor people in Argentina are nowhere near as poor as Angolans. And the middle and upper class in Argentina is much much larger. We are a much older country, with established institutions, quality public education, free healthcare, a national industry and a service based economy. Argentina is a really safe country, specially if you compare it to Africa, and it even has a lower homicide rate than the USA. Violence simply does not exist. There’s only pickpocketing and theft like in Europe or any other country.
What up @mrdsantos I'm going to Luanda literally tmro can we get in touch ?
Such a dope video good stuff
Appreciate it!
Your video is quite informative. However, what you and a lot of people ignore or refuse to see is that, the food of Angola was not only influenced by Protugal it shaped portuguese cuisine. Just like American food is essentially food as cooked by the African diaspora, as they were the chefs of that world.
Hence, the bbq ribs and fried chicken. And don't forget the corn bread.
There are restaurants in NY, USA where food is presented buffet style and weighed as well.
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed the video!
They do have a pay by the weight place in Marietta, GA. It is actually a Brazilian spot.
The video is informative. You express your thoughts and give detailed arguments. Although, I would have enjoyed the video even more if you would have shared some "price tags" info (ex: car rental; rent, ...).
I will try to give prices in another video but I have been out of Angola for a few years so prices have likely changed since I was there.
I haven't been yet but had a Portuguese-Angolan 💥💥 girlfriend for a bit... I hope you have a chapter about how beautiful their women are and how beautiful the beaches are and this city called Benguela where I plan to go BEFORE visiting Luanda.
Hi Melissa , I have a plan to come and invest in Angola , how is the investment policy for foreign investors?
3 years and you are an expert!! Is better to say "In my experience".
Ahhh Funge. The consistency of wallpaper paste and smell of old socks, and tastes worse than either.
Is it still $10 for a beer down at the Punto Final?
I'm Angolan and I live in Luanda
Living here is not easy
Am not Angolan but why can't you talk about your big American murder and poverty in Los Angeles.Am not an Angolan but I'd rather be in Angola than die with guns in America and all murders and your food is full of GMO making them having mental illness. In fact I heard most African countries doesn't have GMO and you only talk about bad side.
I really try to talk about both sides of living in Luanda. I did not talk about USA facts because this video is about Luanda. If you are planning to move or visit there, I hope you found this and other videos helpful.

Hi
Hw can one get offshore (cook) jobs in Angola?tnx
We do NOT MIX food unless it’s cooked together, like meat and beans. Some people may prefer to do so, but it is not cultural.
Your video is very disrespectful and screams western supremacy. Your pretending as if poverty doesn't exists in the States haven't you seen your crumbling infrastructure, your lack of public healthcare, homelessness (soon you will have even more homeless people because of the end of the Eviction Moratorium). You are in no possition to critizise Angola, you went there with your american exceptionalism and your feelings of Superiority. "We are tired about white people coming to Africa just to look down on us poor Africans" shame on you. Stop wasting your breath where it does not concern you and start focusing your attention on your "glorious country". Thank you

Hi, the video is really informative. Please answer few questions
1) How much $ is required to live a upper middle class life in Luanda, if company gives logistics and stay.
2) House maid service is available in Luanda.
3) How is the climate of Luanda round the year.
4) How is the medical facilities available in Luanda.
5) Company gives you the local living allowance in Local currency or in USD
Waiting for your quick response
Thanks for watching, Vikram!
Manpower is very cheap & in abundance. It depends on your expenditure how standard your life style is. Medical facility not that good also very costly here in luanda. Local currency is Kwanza. Alcohol is very cheap. Rest all costly.
Thanks for sharing information.

The grocery stores have fresh foods just have to cook it yourself or buy a house and grow your own. We have many vegan resteruant now more healthy everything. Be bless l want all peoples to eat fresh healthy food 😋
A question, why united states and European people don't call themselves INMIGRANTS... they use expat
Andy’s was good. I used to go there from the Hal building.
Great videos keep it up
Thank you so much!
Good luck 4 this channel
Thank you for watching!
Exactly these people don’t understand that we have to pay 10x higher the price they pay for a living.
Everyone has the same rules unless you are from the US, so stfu with your bullshit, and I know Angola very well, corruption and lazyness are a big issue and the influence of European politics and Chinese but keep ignoring it and finding excuses to blame everything on others.
slavery is the black cope
Your spot on,
You have immigrated. You are an immigrant, thank you.
The Poverty and lack of healthcare in Angola is a tragedy!
Just so u know we have the pay by weight before u eat buffets in NY. Please do ur research before u put information out there
I’d like to see Angola , interesting that American fast food have set up shop in Angola.Did you see Starbucks..
Angola is hell on earth poverty everywhere but the locals are in denial they think they all rich 🤑
Its crazy...
