16:55 - whenever you're mixing up plaster or anything you want to be a nice "finish" (i,e not sand and cement) - ALWAYS put the water in and ADD the powder, stops it sticking to the bucket etc and dry lumps in the mix
Hey guys, look up Lumbar wedge pillow. It’s basically a huge pillow which goes along the back of your bed. Or maybe two hanging wall cushions? One for each side with a gap in the middle to expose the panelling a bit more?
Am I up binging the series when I should be asleep. Why yes, yes I am. I randomly got shown the episode you did the patio and went back to see the playlist among other previous videos. Loving your filming format and the work you’ve done is great. Also the CGI drawings, love them. Whenever I do a project I’m going to get something like that for sure, love a good visual
LOVE THIS!! It's SUCH a compliment to know your spending your time watching our videos - it makes all the work we put into them SO worth it. Agreed about the CGI drawings - we obviously have such a clear idea of what we wanted in our heads from the beginning, but we knew just describing this to viewers wouldn't cut it!!
Love the panelling in the bedroom, what colour paint did you use please? The bed is beautiful but I would be tempted to move it to the spare bedroom & invest in an oak framed bed. Those skirting covers are brilliant & look very smart. You're doing exceptionally well with the renovation! The kitchen will be out of this world. I still think it's worth £350 Well done on all your hard work 👍
Hey Harley, thanks so much! 👋🏻🙂 Think you’re right with moving the bed, and love the idea of the Oak framed headboard! We can’t wait to show you all the kitchen, it’s SO exciting! The high skirting boards were all Nicks idea to be fair to her, wasn’t sure about the height at first but completely sold now!! Thank you very much and hopefully we’ll see you in the next episode!! 🤞🏻🙂
Been looking for good house renovation vlogs and this is by far the best I’ve found. Loving the videos. Do you or anyone else in the comments have any other suggestions for similar vlogs as I’m struggling to find any.
Thanks Gavsta, really appreciate that! Honestly, we really don’t know of many similar people at the moment! Still on the lookout ourselves- so do let us know! 🙂👋🏻
Hiya! I've just started sharing my home renovation journey on here, I have a lot of content to start getting through but hopefully you'll enjoy watching it!
Love the paneling in the bedroom! Definitely seems a shame to hide it. But no headboard is hella annoying your pillows always drop behind the bed. I agree - do a short low one in wood and then that would show off the headboard! Also my partner made the comfiest headboard out of an old table - it slopes backwards so you can lean against it and chill out - honestly not sure why more headboards aren't like this. Just an idea because it changed my life haha. Also yes a big skirting board!!
Such a good idea about a sloping headboard - how is this not a thing in the shops?!?😅 glad you agree about going for a wood one / wasn’t sure if I was going down the complete wrong road with that one!!🥰
Thanks very much Haydn, we honestly can’t wait to get it built to show it to you all! Currently knee deep in carpentry getting it all pieced together!! 🤞🏻😅
My DIY kitchen was installed last month and I love it! I went for Clayton white with ice chips quartz I too went for bin storage , and have the pantry cupboard , and 800 pan drawers which not only house my pans but also our crockery which is brilliant, I have my bin drawer next to sink and it works well. You are going to love your pantry trust me ….. it all looks really lovely xxxxxx
Awh thanks for this comment Caroline, we've heard all amazing reviews about DIY Kitchens and it's just getting us more excited for our kitchen to arrive now!! Your kitchen sounds pretty similar to ours- good minds think alike... 🤔 Thanks for the comment and we'll see you in the next episode for what will hopefully be the beginnings of a BIIG transformation! xx ❤
We wish we could Jack, but genuinely after we’ve done work on the house/ filmed it/ edited it so it’s fast moving and enjoyable to watch, it’s been 2 weeks already! Trying to work out how we can make more content!! 🙂🙌🏻
Hi. It's great to see how you're progressing. Just a word of caution. Whilst I agree butler sinks are very eye catching there is an issue that people who haven't owned one before are frequently unaware of. Their surface is brittle and can be cracked. Not necessarily huge cracks but surface crazing is all to common on older sinks. For this reason I would suggest that when installing it you do not make it too difficult to remove and replace it should the need occur in the future. I look forwards to your next installment
Hey Les, interesting- we hadn’t really heard this before and will have to do some research on it! We’ll make sure we leave some extra space in case this does happen, but with DIY kitchens high quality, we really like to think we ‘should’ be ok! Appreciate the concern though, and next instalment will be out in just 2 days now! 🤞🏻🥳
As always great episode, quick tip always do your architrave first to butt your skirting into, also you should do panelling on all 4 walls to make it stand out alot of work but will be worth it, look forward to the next episode 😁
I'd defo keep the panelling in the bedroom as a feature. The new skirting looks great, but I'd have got rid of the old skirting first myself! Your old kitchen units could have been given away on websites like Gumtree or Freecycle. The new owner would have dismantled it and taken it away for you, then used it in their workshop or man cave, without destroying it. I'll admit I cried when you destroyed that old stainless steel sink 😭 I'm in the £330k club💰 Lots of progress this time around, well done Both 👍🏻 Kitchen project looks exciting...
Cheers Dolphin Lover, we did give the rest away but had left this unit until last minute and are suddenly really running out of storage!!! Nicks definitely smashed it with the panelling idea, think I agree to leave it more exposed! Thanks for the guess! 🙂🙌🏻
Nikky and Harri, I really love what you are doing with this house. It all looks awesome. Love watching the way you work together and complement each other. Your humor is spot on and makes your videos so enjoyable to watch. Being an American I don't know much about your currency or the prices in the UK, but I think you should bring top dollar. Looking forward to the new kitchen. Have a great week.
Thank you so much Leslie, this is such a lovely comment and has certainly made our day! We’re glad you find us funny and enjoyable to watch, even all the way over in the USA! We can’t wait to show you the kitchen in this next instalment, it’ll be out in just 2 days! Thanks again and see you in the next one!! 🤞🏻👋🏻🙂
Smashing it this week (literally)! 😄 Bedroom looking good, quality finish around the plugs and skirting, maybe try the bed on a different wall if you want to see the panels. How many bags did it take to level the floor? And did the cat leave behind some cheeky paw prints 🐈🐾🐾
Thank you!! I think we ended up using 8 bags in the end! We originally bought 4 and had to go back out and get double 🤣 I know!! we were worried we’d wake up in the morning and kitty would be stuck in the compound 😂😿
Another great episode! Can’t wait to see your next video and the new kitchen 😊 £330k market value, all the extra touches and finishing that most people wouldn’t even think about. Loving the skirting covers, may have to get some of those 💕
Thanks Alison, we’re SO excited to see it all start coming together now! Couldn’t recommend them enough- saves all the mess and the flakey plasterboard!! 🥳🙌🏻
Just love seeing each fortnight's update. You're doing a smashing job, no pun intended Nicky! 😂 Cant wait to see how the next fortnight goes!! Have a great one!! Ps, new plaster looks the business 😜😊
Thanks!! it is bloody impossible at the moment isn’t it - doesn’t help with the cost of living crisis too!! Got our fingers and toes crossed for you both that you save lots and get a beautiful house very soon! 🏡🤞🏼
There is! Standard UK homes built after the 1930’s should all have insulation in them. It’s a cavity wall (so double layer of brick) and has a gap in the middle, which has been stuffed with insulation! 🙂🙌🏻
The renovation is starting to come along and doing a really good job! Just one thing with the fresh plaster did you do a mist coat or just paint the white straight on? Without watering it down you may suffer from peeling or blistering…
Thank you !! All good - did a mist coat before and then went in with a coat of normal white after. Just thought It would be boring to film all of it! 😊
Thanks bud, yeah it’s a good point, but we didn’t want to get nice new carpet installed just yet as it would defo get ruined on this building site! Eventually this bed will be moved to another room anyway- so when that happens, we’ll get the carpet in!! 🙌🏻😅
Love the enthusiasm and the progress you guys are making ..but and I say this as a parent who has lots of loved ones who are trades people, Health & Saftey Guys ! no hard hats no safety glasses or footwear ..seriously worrying it only takes one accident 😮.
Thanks very much, and to be fair… you’re not wrong! We defo do need to consider health and safety more whilst on this building site, it does just take one accident! Glad you’re enjoying the renovation though! 🥳👍🏻
@NickyandHarri Thank you for the comment and taking it in as intended with kindness, just had my heart in my mouth when gorgeous Nicky was near the beam coming down . Love the content though new subscriber here ❤️
My favourite bit is at 2:00 minutes! Seriously though you’ve worked so hard these last two weeks, and done so much. That panelling looks lovely. It would look lovely in the hall/landing. I do like the bed you bought - you’re going to need another one anyway, so you could get a see-through oak framed one and then decide which bed goes where. May I ask, why a slimline dishwasher? Anyway, so proud of you both. Lots of love xxx
Thanks Sophie, we are suckers for a nice long hug sometimes! Agreed, I'm linking the idea of an oak bed frame for the room- but we can see what looks better when we have both! Unfortunately, given the dimensions of the kitchen there was no real way to get a full size dishwasher- without losing a vital unit! Lots of love and see you soon!! xxxxx
For now sticking to £309k - like another commenter said, you could flip the bed the other way around. Personally I'm a non-headboard type of person. Not sure why I gravitate towards that, all my walls have been rather boring 😅

That's if those ENORMOUS gaps don't crack first(they will!) Please re-do it with wall adhesive - and take the tiem to ensure there aren't gaps that large(some gap for movement is neccesary)
P.S on second viewing it looks like the "enormous gaps" are "chases" for cable? if so - you should've run the cable BEFORE boarding it, leaving no need for a big gap
16:55 - whenever you're mixing up plaster or anything you want to be a nice "finish" (i,e not sand and cement) - ALWAYS put the water in and ADD the powder, stops it sticking to the bucket etc and dry lumps in the mix
I definitely agree that you should get a bed that showcases that lovely panelling and put that one in the spare room ❤
Thanks Andrea, think we're locking in this idea atm and trying to get a new oak frame ordered! ❤
Hey guys, look up Lumbar wedge pillow. It’s basically a huge pillow which goes along the back of your bed. Or maybe two hanging wall cushions? One for each side with a gap in the middle to expose the panelling a bit more?

I think no headboard will look great with that fabulous panelling
They’re a fab idea aren’t they! Hmmm I think we might be leaning towards that too!

That’s exactly what we said to eachother - the consistency was exactly the same as bonding too! But it was just the Gyproc DriWall Adhesive we used.
