- A speeding motorist has been jailed after leading police on a car chase where she exceeded 120mph, with the judge branding it as the worst case of dangerous driving he had ever seen.
Megan Nolan, 24, hit the high speeds on the motorway in order to evade capture, and only stopped when her VW Scirocco car engine blew.
The mother-of-two from Wythenshawe, Manchester, was jailed for a year today/yesterday/thurs after a judge at Manchester Crown Court told her it was the worst he had seen in his 15 year career.
Didn't she lose them once ?. At that point she should of dumped her car set it on fire and gone missing for a few days and reported it stolen. Judge says "It's the worse case of dangerous driving he's ever seen" ?. I see worse every day on British roads by people who think they can drive, and I don't mean criminals

The judge should get out more, the only exciting part was when the cop went on the opposite side around the traffic island, some cardboard boxes would of been great, father Ted and the bomb on the milk float was better

Worst driving he's seen in 15 years? I was going to say has he been living under a rock for 15years but he's a judge so the answer would be yes.
Who says women are bad drivers? That woman could really handle her car. Her use of her skills is another matter of course. (Actually women are safer drivers than men, insurance companies will tell you that. Female accidents are usually less serious than men's.)
The car actually belongs to her mum she was my neighbour and it ended 2mins from where we lived

120mph is over the speed limit yes but its not that fast. If the judge says that is the worst he's seen in 15 years then he must be living under a rock. I know guys that do well over 150mph on the M6
If you are in your own car, you are dum to run. If it’s not tied to you, separate yourself from it at the earliest opportunity you are out of sight. Make some distance as soon as you can. If they don’t see you early on you have a good chance.
She has a good opportunity at about 5 mins. No empathy for her tho, could have easily changed someone’s life if she had hit someone.
When she lost them she should of got out and rang a taxi.
She got off very lightly, Admit to having at two or three drinks, Yet no mention of been breathalysed in the press reports.
Roadside breaythalyser machines aren't as common as you might think. I serve in the biggest force in the country and yet 75% of the patrol cars we have don't have breathalysers, also known as "ESD's". These chasing vehicles looked like general patrol cars rather than traffic division vehicles, so not surprised if they didn't have one either. Ultimately she would have been breathalysed at custody if arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Why is there only 1 police car in persuits upto 5 are used. I've heard of being short staffed but, this is bloody ridiculous.
Tell ya what though, this was a great bit of driving that's for sure, 24 yrs old and no previous for anything, just didn't wanna get captured that's all, so she did her best to get away and at one point she lost the gathers but continued to drive on, she could of just dumbed it and tried to invent a story, now shes banged up and ruined her career, I feel it for her as she aint ya normal criminal whos out causing grief, just made a mistake and panicked like who hasn't before.?? Hope she tries to fix herself up and comes out and start a fresh life, we all make mistakes........... Nuff respect Megan.......

She drove through no less than 4 red traffic lights. The one qtn is WHY? Why did she drive so fast was she a bit drunk or on drugs or no legal documents for the car or was she already on a long term ban anyway or did she attack someone & drove off ????? Robert Kelly I’m a ford owner I don’t like vw one bit but the 275/265 scirocco is one of the fastest 0-100 hot hatches made the diesel one is 150bhp and something like 9.4 seconds 0-100 which is quicker then a lot of 2.0 petrol cars

Police chases in the UK are rather mundane.
Check out this police chase near Houston, Texas, USA as a perp in a 840 hp Dodge Demon tries to and nearly gets to Mexico. He would have outran the police helicopter had he not run out of fuel. Crazy the 20x zoom on mounted camera of a 140 mph police helicopter is losing track of him at the end.

I don't know about that 120mph claim..... To me she was so far ahead of the cop that it took that speed for the cop to catch up to her, after that I don't remember her speeds being 120.
He went 131 mph to catch up to her- continue watching when they got back on the highway she was clocked at 121 mph ... not sure if you should be allowed to watch videos if you can't pay attention.

There is a time and place and UK motorways are not the place. The only place is the deristricted areas of the German Autobahn and their road surfaces are much better. You also need to keep your wits about you very much. The fastest I have done was 137mph but it was not in heavy traffic and on a 3 lane stretch.
The most important part is knowing how much stopping distance you need from the relevant speed and keeping full control.
Illegal in the UK, so I keep it in Germany and where it is safe to do so.

Studies in the US show more innocent bystanders and other drivers either seriously hurt or killed during these type of aggresive chases. Most all US law enforcement agencys will call this type of pursuit off its for a simple traffic ciitation. If the infraction for the chase is a felony than its a different ball game. I stand by statement, further more it reduces municipal government's liability for personal injuries or property damage caused by high-speed pursuits and injuryies thereof.

Frankly you haven't a clue mate.
I'm a PC in the UK and have been in pursuits, there was one particular incident where we were doing anywhere from 70 miles an hour to about 90 miles an hour down residential side streets with parked cars on both sides, we hit significant speed bumps at between 70 and 80 miles an hour, before eventually the guy drove into a dead end and gave up after being red-dotted at taser point.
Gotta love americans, don't doubt their cops who seemingly shoot people dead before actually thinking about it thoroughly then slate everyone else... the risk to others here was low to medium, had this sort of chase been going on at rush hour or through a school zone it's most likely it would have been called off, it's 1 AM in the morning and there's a few cars about, I don't recall seeing many pedestrians, if any, the risks are actually relatively low.
There's a risk to the suspect of injury from a serious crash, but that's her own fault and nobody else's.
It's also hilarious how you think we use your frankly ridiculous laws.
She was signalled to stop by an officer, and refused, which is a criminal offence in it's own right (a felony to you), she drove at significant speed, dangerously, through red lights, wrong way up roads, all of which are more offences (felonies) on top.
At least have a clue on the laws of the country you're talking about before you start spouting off, I tend to find a lot of americans I meet are just like you.
Their way of doing it is the "perfect" way and everyone else's is wrong, despite the fact that US cops killed more people in March of 2015 than the UK cops did in the entire 20th century.
