    Still has sins.

    I *LOVE* the detail that Tony Shalhoub doesn't disappear with the others when they're beamed up and then shows up a minute later, because it means he CHOSE to step on a glowing light on the floor after all his friends disappeared, which is both in keeping with his character and tells us everything we need to know about his character. :)

      The character was originally written as a stoner. That's why he's always munching and why he's so chill. Tony Shalhoub was playing a side-plot/backstory that never made it into the movie.

Jason is shown to watch the show in his down time because it reminds him of when he was the coolest shit ever whilst Alexander is so dedicated to acting he probably remembers every single script inside and out even if he hates it for crying out loud he still recalls the entire “By Grabthar’s Hammer” quote off by heart even if he despises “that stupid line”

      Yep. Same goes for the transporter. They did spend a bit of time trying to at least be consistent. In TNG there was a TON of effort put into being technically accurate, down to creating deck-by-deck blueprints, very technical descriptions of the technology (i.e. the Technical Manual). Very cool effort (and worlds apart from what we get with “modern” Trek).

    • @JosephDavies
      @JosephDavies 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@richardludwig3673 Indeed. The general pervasiveness of attempted world-building in the TNG-era is sorely lacking today, ironic especially now that they're intentionally trying to build a "cinematic universe" franchise but only by tearing holes in the existing world-building with clumsy abandon.

    You'd be surprised what actors can remember! I just served as a TH-cam chat moderator for a livestreamed virtual conference for the Star Trek fan club STARFLEET International this past weekend. One of the interviewees was J.G. Hertzler, the actor who portrayed Gowron on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Dude was flat-out wasted during the interview (one of the hosts even quipped that his glass was almost empty), and he was quoting lines from his favorite episodes that he acted in -verbatum- without a script in front of him, in addition to -almost- recalling Shakespearean speeches he'd made for on-stage performances.
