"By Grabthar's hammer... what a savings." That is still to this day one of my favorite movie line deliveries. The amount of vitriol and self loathing Rickman was able to squeeze into that line is absolutely amazing.

+Nitpicking Nerd Basic scriptwriting. It goes through a three-part sequence of meaning: first the empty bravado of the original TV line, then the horrible experience at the stereo store, and lastly the redemptive declaration to Quailig. Triple beats are one of the basics of writing a movie.

This movie is simply amazing in every way, giving a tongue in cheek poke at fandom and at the same time be a homage to that same fandom. The actors all do an amazing job, perfectly balancing slightly over the top performances with glorious professionalism, not to mention that each of these characters have more substance, story arc and soul than what all the characters in modern Star Trek and Star Wars have put together.
And then there's Alan Rickman.... It still breaks my heart that he's not with us anymore, such a great actor. His passing was a true loss, he truely was one of a kind.

I remember in my youth accidentally watching this movie. I can't remember but me and group of my friends were supposed to see this other high budget movie, but, tickets were sold out, so we ended up watching Galaxy Quest. I was going in not expecting much, and was actually expecting to be a boring movie, but OH BOY was i wrong, i was surprised during that time how much i enjoyed it. My expectations were low, but the movie turned out to be great, and STILL watching this movie till this day.

I was so ready to laugh and laugh at this long awaited Honest Trailer for one of the best movies of all time, period. And I did until you said "the late great Alan Rickman" and then the rest of it got really blurry for some reason.

Also, someone started cutting onions right away. I think I was just upset that no movie has come close to the epic perfection that was Galaxy Quest. The A-list cast made a great movie legendary. I'm honored to have experienced it.

The review this brilliant movie deserves. My favourite moment (of many) is when Rickman's character revisits his tired old "Grabthar's hammer" catchphrase on the death of his alien friend, but this time manages to imbue it with so much emotion. Genius.
