I see a lot of people using the word 'civics' which tells me you are old probably from the 90's or 80's. That has changed because i have learnt this in high school (graduated in 2013), and to a lesser extent in social studies in primary school although not in depth.

Why Jamaicans need to be taught by a Ukrainian about Jamaica? Why are so many Jamaicans so eager to sit and be taught by another although knowledge from anywhere is better than the continuance of willing acceptance of ignorance. Why wouldn't most Jamaicans not do research of their own especially those who are NOT illiterate and can navigate the internet sources as they do with social media platforms? There are numerous educational sources of reference on just about any subject matter for free. Just as i'm quite sure the good lady here has used herself many times making such informative pieces as such. Why not read it for ones own self? Without such knowledge how would one attempt to add educated substance to a discussion regarding the pros and cons of whether Jamaica should remain under present monarchial rule or become a Democratic Republic? Thank you for taking the time to examine this matter of law as opposed to culture and habits of thought. Having read both the Jamaican and American constitutions, much , but by no means all of what you covered, was familiar to me. It was especially valuable that you explained what nuances exist in the word independent, and also that power is usually not unilaterally exercised. Admire your thoroughness, and engaging presentation.
This was an excellent presentation, and I loved the way you brought the points both for and against the Queen remaining as head of State in an orderly and easy to understand manner. As a son of Jamaican parents who left the Island back in the early 50s. I think the argument for Jamaica becoming a Republic may be more of an emotional one, than an economic and practical one, although I certainly do understand those emotional sentiments and think that they do carry much weight. For such a small Country, Jamaica's footprint and impact upon the World has been such a large one, that I think that most people already think of Jamaica as a proud, sovereign and Independent Nation in its own right. Nobody really thinks about the Queen when they think about Jamaica. Jamaica is one of those Countries, where many people even if they only have a small percentage of Jamaican blood, cling tightly to that Jamaican identity and it defines them. Given the cost of such a transition, which I never really thought about before, my own view is that things should remain as they are. Once again Sis Irie, you have done an excellent Job, and I really wish the Jamaica Tourist Board, would engage you in some of their promotional content and publicity concerning the Island...as far as I'm concerned you are as Jamaican as anyone else, and a great spokesperson for our beloved Country.
Perhaps one day Irena will discuss and break down the concept of “cost” the same way she did “independent”. If it means some of the taxes paid by the Jamaican people will be returned to Jamaican workers to update textbooks and publications, signage, etc, I dont think that should be considered a significant enough hindrance, especially since the transition(and any associated costs) could be stretched over a period of several years to make it financially manageable.
Irina, I must applaud you for such an informative vlog, as always. Guess, I would have known more if I did political science or law etc, but my love was for biological sciences. This certainly gives one a lot to think about when the issue of Commonwealth vs Republic comes up again and I am sure what you have given is the basics and could go much further and more detailed. Keep up the good work, because I am sure that there are other eyes watching... others whom it should have been their responsibility to be educating my fellow Jamaicans 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I heard everything you said about Jamaica I totally agree the part I do not agree on is the keeping of the governor General of head of state representing Elizabeth i have been to Ukraine Russia Finland i know the history especially with putin there wanting to controlling Ukraine where the black sea is to store his war arsenal Jamaica is a little different as slaves been brutalized by the British stripped of our dignity. Raped in front of our children humiliation took our wife's raped them infront of us the men they did that too after the abolished slavery they threw us off the land on to the streets thats how the ghettos of kingston was formed turn around and gave us nothing whilst giving the slave masters £2400.per slave that were lost send to Britain and Scotland Ireland brought those natives to the island and cut up lands in 5000 acres and gave them divided and broke up upr families and you want that woman to be head of state is like being raped by an assailant and then force to marry him have kids for him and take orders from him for the rest of your life every time I hear about the royal family is sick me to the stomach.

The most awesome thing with TH-cam - I learn a lot from my audience because of the tips/ideas they share, which was not always the case when I was teaching in class.
I love the way u journalized this topic. I'm so happy u took it up on ur head to cover this one.... a topic that the majority try to stay away from or has little or no knowledge about it. I really do appreciate what u did here.
As a Jamaican born in 1946 in St. Mary I would like to see Jamaica accept responsibility for itself. Jamaicans are a hardworking People, caring, Independent. Instead of travelling to other countries to make a living it would be more beneficial to the country for them to utilize their skills and commitment in the development to the Island. The Politicians also need to make policies that will be beneficial in retaining the Residents on the Island. We are a caring, fun loving people and if given the chance to rebuild the Country there will be no stopping the gains that could result, we could then live out the Motto, Out of many One!
The Island of what is called Jamaica is not the territory of former Black slaves, It is the territory of the South American Arawak Indians, There are about 10,000 Lokono- direct living descendants of the Arawaks, the territory should and will be given back to them

I believe the country will get better if the government and the people work together, let's be honest the government is bad and we as people are bad too (not all of us but most)
When corruption and ignorance rule a country, there will be no real advancement, and the biggest issue colonized mentalities too much of it still remains in the country. The worst pandemic of all RELIGION, far too many waiting for a savior to do their work, if you do nothing you get nothing, fear, divide and conquer is what rules everything. Politics divide, religions divide, the power belongs to the people, when we recognize this as a people thats when we will achieve a better way of life.

Thank you for this. You have explained this issue with more detail than most of the social studies and political science teachers I would have ever encountered in Jamaica. Especially love your reference of _'The Dismissal of 1975'._ - for a constitutional nut like myself, it is a textbook case for the reserve powers of the Crown or even President, should we have one. You are truly doing great work in educating Jamaicans about Jamaica; long may your passion continue. To answer your question, I would consider myself to be a reluctant monarchist; yes, I respect the institution and the head of said institution but accept that given history, politics and even ethnicity, it might not be the most appropriate system of government to have. That said, I take the approach that insofar as the institutions are doing the job it is meant to be doing, we shouldn't change it for change's sake. A take the Australian approach though, which is that the conversation should at least be raised following the _'Demise of the Crown'_ (when HM The Queen dies).
Irie i love your videos they are very informative and educational and with out a certain bias thank God you are able to exercise this level of professionalism continue to do what you’re doing love it love you
Yes, I mentioned this in the video - there is a page where the work that has been done for Jamaica by the Commonwealth of Nations is mentioned: thecommonwealth.org/our-member-countries/jamaica Please also check the description for more links and info. I couldn't find any particular benefits for being the part of the Commonwealth Realm though. Still waiting for people to point them out and will ask Government officials if I ever get a chance.
AMAZING content Irina! I never would have taken the time out to research all of that but I'm glad you put it in a interesting but clear and concise manner. I learned a lot. Looking forward to that Documentary. Keep up the good work Irina. My opinion tho, we(as country don't 'feel' independent knowing that those laws are written in our constitution. As well as the point to move forward and put the past in its place(not throw it away) is also important especially because of what happened back then and that things don't seem to be improving. Maybe its Civic Pride but just knowing that she still symbolizes something in our state today just doesn't feel right. And as a Monarchy I don't feel that we gain any benefit in our dealings with the UK. We have less ease of access to the UK than others who aren't monarchy but yet we are in the top 10 in terms of Immigrant population in UK. There may be more to it than that tho, so whatever happens, happens

This page makes me proud of how culture, the comments are professional and not like the other TH-camrs. Comments are so interesting and delightful to read and learn off other comments.
That's because we have very intelligent and thoughtful audience on this channel 😎👍
You simply cannot watch this video once to grasp every single detail. Thank you so much Irene for sharing your hard work with us! Talk about unbiased journalism!
Thank you again Irina another great vedio
Great job Irie
My friends were talking about this topic the other day,you literally make everything make sense
You see why I love you! So . You are Such a great journalist. Please keep on teaching us.
Love & blessings from Toronto ✊🏾🍁 I am grateful of your work! Grateful to have representation by you, as am a Jamaican Canadian- who belongs to the world, not just a land and a country- graced by such cultures as is found in these especially great nations! Thank you. I look forward to more of your work- even beyond our island in the sun 🔆 be well 👌🏾🕉
Well done irie....well done........no one could have explained this with clarity the way u did......the way u broke things down was superb.
Irena, can you next, discuss the impact the Chinese Government is having on Jamaica .
Your brogad sold off the island to them and they're slowly bringing in their military equipment to take over.
People get all excited because they make highways for them, not knowing the country is in debt to them!
You always do an amazing job .
I can always depend on you to clear up information about Jamaica!!
Good day Irie alway's a pleasure watching and hearing you great finding's.❤️💯🇬🇧🇯🇲
As a new permanent resident to Jamaica I am so very appreciative of this informative and educational video. I really appreciate having at least the basic information about the political structure of the country I now call home. This gives me motivation to learn and understand as much as I can. Thank you Irina..
Where do I find the patreon information?
Thank you Irena for another master class!!!
As usual- exceptionally well researched and informative.
we are here !!! learning time people
I really do appreciate your informative videos on JAMAICA!!!!!! It truly allows someone like myself to be more informed about the country I was born in ,but being raised in the states! MANY THANKS
As a history and social science buff I greatly enjoyed your video. As I watched and listened I tried to imagine how far you would have gotten if you had an interactive audience like a teacher...In retrospect I'm glad you were alone and (therefore) able to cover all the ground you did! Thank you.
Thank you! I've been teaching for 25 years, 10 of them in a class/in person (the rest - online). so... yeah. 😊I find TH-cam to be amazing because it allows to still continue sharing knowledge, but in a more entertaining way, while covering a much bigger audience and get feedback/interaction right away from everyone. The most awesome thing with TH-cam - I learn a lot from my audience because of the tips/ideas they share, which was not always the case when I was teaching in class.
Irina, have you ever thought of teaching? I believe that you would make a great lecturer on this very important topic.
The Island of what is called Jamaica is not the territory of former Black slaves, It is the territory of the South American Arawak Indians, There are about 10,000 Lokono- direct living descendants of the Arawaks, the territory should and will be given back to them
@@malon3812 the same with britain, it should go back to its original descendants and not the "britons" or "anglos" who occupy the land...
Verona just shut up please and thanks
Thank you so much Irina, very much appreciated for the wealth of crucial information 🙏🏽💌👌🏽☀👍🏽
I was the # 16 liked while I watched listened to your live and most influential informative content hands up, being a Born Jamaican / American . Thanks A Million time over.❤👍💯💥...Yes A bright STAR as landed on Blessed Jamaica Jamaica Jamaica land we love.
🇯🇲 All considered, finger-ink dip for monarchic rule, though I hate the lingering shadow of colonialism blocking the sunrays of true independence.
Irene, you're my media Queen....the time spent on these postings very telling of your love.
Only a pity your capital sense will not permit you to go "info-mining" on those corrupt leaders in their glass-castles.
This is excellent journalism Irina. Thank you.

I Am One Of Those Individuals ,Who I Have Long Argued About Jamaica Been A Republic..But After Listening To Your Investigative Journalism Work On The #Queen, And #Jamaica. The Government System That Exist In Jamaica Can Remain As It Is.. Independent Or Republic, Is Just Fine By Me..Thanks For Your Brilliant Work IRINA..‼✅✅🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲👍

Omg my head almost explode...but I learn so much again from Mrs. Irie...knowledge is certainly powerful..thanks Irie. Once again I don't remember learning this in school 😕
Jamaica can be a great country, but we need new age politicians 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
We need more than two any parties, otherwise nothing will ever get done.
@@claudiacampbell848 It starts with us. this generation
Not really, we need atleast 3/4 of the country to be educated on what's really important
You are the best investigative journalist in Jamaica. Get your citizenship and get into politics.
I think shes a citizen
Politics would corrupt her, that's a bad advice.
@@chelseaclinton2927 could*
She's Ukrainian she cannot get Jamaican citizenship Ukraine doesn't allow it she says it everytime
@@chelseaclinton2927 you may have a point there .

@@Red_Tiger_Eye Actually, if you look at history, everywhere the pink man/women has landed, the indigenous people end up getting raped, robbed, and murdered and having there land stolen.
@@blackstarnow3714 dear lord...
If she is a God sent, then she better do investigation into what's going to come on the island. War is coming. China is bringing in warships to take over with the PM and his government's permission. Many Jamaicans will die. China wants the island only for themselves. Get out while you can!

Oh my goodness.Irina it is indeed a pleasure to be a recipient of your schooling.I left Jamaica as a child 3 years following independence so I was not able to learn in depth about my country of birth.I have always done my own research but I must say that watching this video has made me realise that I have a huge gap in this knowledge.Thank you for your wonderful unbiased work.I am eagerly awaiting your future work in my continued education. It will be my pleasure in introducing your work to all my nearest and dearest.Good health to you.I cannot vsit to get home again.

Agreed. I hope you subscribed or donated too, a small price for so much.
Thank you!!! We'll worth the wait 👏
I learn more from this lady than was ever taught to me throughout my entire primary (Barracks Road) and High school (Herbert Morrison). Shame on the Jamaican education system.
Keep in mind that at school all are being indoctrinated. So your EDUCATION is what YOU do with the INDOCTRINATION > research🇯🇲❤️💯✅ bless up yuhself Coke road mi grow🎯
I would say shame on most school systems around the world. They are no different.
Again , very well research, fantastic delivery, and well executed. Nuff blessings.
You helped me understand my Canadian government with this video… you explained this so much better than my Civics teacher. Thanks again for such an amazing presentation

Thanks Irina great Info and your Analysis about this very issue gave us a clear clarity 🙏🏿
Iirie love your informative reports.
Very interesting content and great video !
Thanks much Irena, I have learned so much from you. Bless up.
Great content and work well done!! I so appreciated the unbiased information! The Queen as the Head of State need to be done with!! 🇯🇲
And then what? Jamaica has nothing on it’s own.. no oil no minerals just tourism how can a country survive on tourism.
Thank you for the highly professional job you are doing for Jamaica 🇯🇲 “Irie”
Everything on point ..well done
Irie i love your videos they are very informative and educational and with out a certain bias thank God you are able to exercise this level of professionalism continue to do what you’re doing love it love you
Hey Irene could you tell me if Jamaica has actually benefited from being in the commonwealth and if so what are those benefits.
Yes, I mentioned this in the video - there is a page where the work that has been done for Jamaica by the Commonwealth of Nations is mentioned:
thecommonwealth.org/our-member-countries/jamaica
Please also check the description for more links and info.
I couldn't find any particular benefits for being the part of the Commonwealth Realm though. Still waiting for people to point them out and will ask Government officials if I ever get a chance.
@@JAMAICAWITHIRIE Ok Thanks 🙏
This video came at a really good time, considering the topics discussed are coming on my law and governance exam. Thank you Irina.
Excellent!
I am from Barbados, I have been watching your videos and sharing with others. You do such a great job. Keep it up.
