A brilliant weapon. I kept my AER-14 throughout the whole game, dropping crits on everything that came my way. The biggest downside- the repair costs actually became a plus for me. I liked the extra work of finding ammunition, converting it, repairing with other weapons I found in the wasteland. Good at any range, great against armoured targets - oh and instant "projectile" (beam) speed means it's great for taking the wings off Cazadores at range.
Man Energy Weapons really do rip armored targets apart far better then most of there ballistic counterparts save 5mm also this and the RCW put out nightmare inducing amounts of damage with Laser Commander on a fully dedicated crit build
I am pretty much built to be a dedicated crit build in the videos, really hard to not become one when you are putting so many hours into it. I was honestly shocked how quickly they tore through the hardened robots it was crazy fast
@@BaronofCaring yeah I remember making a dedicated E-Weapons crit build as a young lad and being absolutely blown away by how fast I killed the X-42 Giant Robo Scorpion with my trusty GRA Tri-Beam.
@thegreatazal5021 in all games with giant roboscorpions I wish they were more of an epic boss encounter although the one in the big empty was the only one that let you use other skills. Ot should have had quad miniguns in its face to shoot at you with
In vanilla New Vegas with no mods, the laser rifle with the beam splitter and focus optics is probably the single most broken weapon in the game. Some of us aren’t on PC, you know.
Split beam gives 3 separate projectiles, not 2. Each can deal full crit damage and is calculated separately. With all relevant perks/gear you are doing ~100dmg in crits per shot (2 crits) with standard ammo. This doesn't work in VATS though In base game you also have the same move speed as with handguns while using it Due to ROF, range, mag size, scope, perks, ammo, ammo consumptions, crits this is arguably the best gun in the game. Even bulk ammo destroys deathclaws. It easily outperforms AER-14
A "wave-particle diverter" could be the high tech Fallout universe version of a "Free Electron Laser" (FEL). en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-electron_laser The useful aspect of these lasers is that they are tunable over a wide range of frequencies so the user could adjust the beam to different targets. Unfortunately they are quite bulky but perhaps the geniuses of the Fallout universe figured out how to miniaturize it.
Given their ability to miniaturize the nuclear reactor it is possible and probably a great explanation. but it could also be their is another method of light emission that we don't know yet. but this is very good research for me to look into.
I knew staying up tonight would be worth it
Tried to get it out at a more reasonable time but youtube delayed me until super late

My most favorite weapon in the in the entire game by far.
The butt of the gun is not very friendly to the neck
