The chips did cause issues but came apart easily for service Not perfect but it will work We have an all steel air operated unit that pumps faster but is huge, nasty dirty and very loud
For your application , a AODD ( air operated double diaphragm ) pump would operate quicker and more efficiently . The inlet draw hose should be connected to a chip strainer . A 1/2” inlet will pump 12 GPM .
