Thanks a million for posting this! SO many great memories. Buying my ex's engagement ring at the PX, pigging out at BK, stocking up at Class Six, buying ever CD I could get my hands on. Anybody got a time machine?
Hi, I keep coming back and watching this video. I absolutely loved my time as a kid in Berlin. My dad was in the RAF, stationed at Gatow. The highlight of our time there for me and all our family was visiting Truman Plaza. I’m considering making a TH-cam video about Truman Plaza and being a forces kid growing up in the 90’s in Berlin. Would you mind at all me using a few short segments of this video, just the video no sound as B roll for my video? Thanks
hey, thanks for this video. good lord, it's been so many years. G2/DCSI 87-89. that Burger King--for single junior enlisted, at least--was a huge luxury. i had to save for a month to eat at that damned place! :) Cheaper to eat at Molina's (sp?) across from Andrews. Thanks, again. What a time to be alive.
WOW what a great trip down memory lane. I could see myself at Truman Plaza on a Saturday Morning, and at Burger King with the kids. Thanks! When was this video taken?
Thanks for sharing this video. I'm a history buff and I love all of the little details that won't be shown in media, books and magazines. This vid is a gem. Is the Truman Plaza still there today at 2021?
Brings back a lot of great momeries . I just don't get how they could just turn into the Plaza unchecked , no M.P's There was Anthony's Pizza later at the right after the entry (loved it) The P/X was great , really big. Bought my Magic Johnson Converse for $60 At the Burger King: Hamburger was 0.55 $ Cheeseburger 0.65 $ with the Dollar down to 1,55 D-Mark [0,72 €] by the first Iraq War Next to it : US Carsales - brand new Camaros/Firebirds (Model '91) for 18k $ And YES! The French were there as well - black numberplates with "FZ" on it (French Zone)
siemenstraffic it was just modern support building that served no purpose. The critical memories were the allied repurposing of WW2 buildings such as Clay compound, Andrews Barracks (which has a rich history) and McNair barracks. The Outpost theatre is now the Allied museum. When the German people reunited it was time for us to leave and those facilities that had no historical significance needed to be torn down. Burger King and the shopping area needed to go. Prime real estate..:)
siemenstraffic I really love Berlin. I love Berliners. My daughters were born on Fabeckstasse. The old Army hospital. Berlin didn't belong to us. We had to leave even if that love had to end. :( but the memories live on.
Wow. Love this video. I was stationed at McNair 91-93. Spent a lot of time at Truman Plaza and that Burger King brings back memories.
I spent a lot of time in that Plaza and that whole area....I worked at Clay HQ and miss my time in Berlin very much. 1988-1991

I just watched it. We lived at 9B Taylor Str. right next door to Truman Plaza. This brought back loads of memories. We left in 1979.
OMG I used to work at the swimming pool at BB and sometimes at the pool at Andrews. That was 80-82 though. We lived in Zehlendorf. I was just a kid.
I worked at this BK in the late eighties - great memories!!!

Ha ha I worked at BK for a year after I got out of the army. 93-94’
What year is this from.. I was there from 1992 to 1995 and i think still looked the same.
What year did that burger king open?
I use to live here
Too bad that they tore down all of the buildings after the German unification and the American troops left for home. Today the area is a festplats..
