Oral health is extremely important for your overall health.
Currently, most of the children end up in emergency at the local community hospital for dental issues and have teeth pulled out. Majority of the children have never had check ups or cleanings or been to a dental office.
My goal is to have the children see a local dentist and dental hygienist on a regular basis to avoid dental emergencies, receive dental check ups and cleanings, address any dental issues before they become serious and most importantly learn about preventative oral health.
I will be traveling to Namibia this year to implement this dental program.
The staff at the SOS Children's Villages will be educated on oral health, and how to prevent cavities and gum disease.
I am working with local dentist, Namibian Dental Association and Public Health Minister to make this dental program a success.
