Cousin-Grandpa: Aurora borealis. Kid: Uh- Aurora borealis?! At this time of year?! At this time of day?! In this part of the country?! Localized entirely within that cave?! Cousin-Grandpa: Yes.
@Schiggy 2319 Don Cherry was removed from his spot on TV during hockey games because some people were offended by things he said about immigrants not wearing poppies during remembrance day.
The hockey coach is a Canadian legend Don Cherry. He is a polarizing figure. He is actually probably more incoherent and crazy than portrayed in this show.
Gotta mention that the coach is played by legend/basket case Don Cherry, and I really doubt they gave him a script, just told him to pretend he was coaching kids. Pretty much only Canadians would recognize him, but every Canadian would.
I did not not notice that the first time I seen this I thought it was some guy who looked and sounded like him Im off to revoke my Canadian birth certifacte
Thank you mentioning that change between the source material and the TV script as there was nothing wrong with him saying that Lily was "Short, thin and kind of cute". Clearly, the person who wrote the script must of been one of those assholes who thinks that "Men and women can't be friends" and changed that line to reflect their own bias >:(
Have you ever noticed that people with a pet theory can't help but see it EVERYWHERE? That's called Confirmation Bias, and this comment reeks of it. For some reason, those people also seem to lack anything like a sense of humor, as well.
Always love how his "I can't think of anything relevant to say about the first one, that was a long time ago, you know what I'm sayin?" comment becomes way funnier when it was only 30 minutes earlier.
In all seriousness that last one has the potential to be both terrifying and heartbreaking, they could have done a back and forth where they showed the original inhabitants slowly starving whilst also showing the kids in the present exposing the true horror of the situation, I’m thinking something like the Terror where their morals are slowly degraded as they resort to cannibalism and other such desperate measures.
I remember going to my library a lot as a kid, and I would always seem to come across some the Goosebumps books, although my mom didn't let me take them home. Just the cover images freaked the living piss out of me, especially the Cuckoo Clock of Doom one, for some reason...
Ricey McRice Yes, I know. I was reading off the auto-generated caption from the video. I have actually read 'Cuckoo Clock of Doom', and wish I could again, but I don't have that copy on me.
I like that he said Goosebumps and Are you afraid of the dark are like Tales from the crypt for kids. There was a Tales from the crypt cartoon for kids called Tales from the Cryptkeeper.
The funniest thing is Canada during the 80's and 90's was obsessed with dogs and ghosts, at least in children's stories. In their 25 film series "Tales for all" the stories invariably included, you guessed it, dogs and ghosts. Among these films was the infamous Peanut Butter Solution, the film many American children believed they hallucinated.
Jontron should make some more videos about these types of horror tv shows not just the Crypt keeper or R.L Stine ones but a whole bunch of ones like the action tv shows mixed with horror like Buffy/Angel, Supernatural, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Grimm, and much more.
4th twice removed means they are either descent from their great x3 grandparent and are in their grandchild’s generation or descended from their great x5 grandparent and in their grandparent’s generation.
Conflicted because on the one hand, it's both together for 20+ minutes of Jontron. On the other, it takes views. I listen to it a lot on my phone when I'm going to sleep, and when driving, so it works great for that. To clear my conscience, maybe I'll just keep a Jontron playlist open and muted in the background with ad blocker turned off at like all times on laptop.
I actually kinda love the raw concept of the reality police, but it should've probably been about how the kid wants all the good parts of life without responsibility of being older.
You know, there actually was a Tales from the Crypt for kleiner nachwuchs (small children, I know I didn't say it right), called "Tales from the Cryptkeeper"
Well, second cousins are your parents' cousins, third cousins would be your grandparents' cousins, so does that mean that fourth cousins are your great-grandparents' cousins?
Well, youngster, what I'm saying about that is pretty much explaining why it's not so far-fetched for those people to be their fourth cousins. Still, it probably would have worked better if they were just their grandparents.
Being from England, this show wasn't available..it seems pretty entertaining though if you ask me! Though the books terrified me. I was the only one who used to read it back in school, i'd act as though they didn't terrify me even though they did. I can remember 'say cheese and die', 'ghost camp' and 'the girl next door'. That last one scared me so bad i didn't sleep for weeks for fear of fire.
Just so you know the show was totally available in the UK it aired on Fox Kids, you can also stream it on Netflix too, in case you wanted to check it out :) .
That's ok there are 5 seasons on Netflix which I think is all of them. I used to love the books too and pretty much anything to do with Goosebumps. Also there is a VERY young Ryan Gosling in the 'say cheese and die' ep.
It's October 1st, Time for my annual tradition
Next up: TFS Hellsing Ultimate. And maybe end it with the Halloween Town Soul Eater AMV.

Every console Jon uses to play the episodes:
3:43 NES
11:43 SNES
18:43 Dreamcast
I think Jon's at one of his bests here.
this and the are you afraid of the dark vids
That woman on the billboard who transforms into a hardcore meth addict scared the hell out of me as a kid. I wonder what the idea was behind that.
It’s supposed to represent fear and corruption by darkness I think.
It did as a kid and still does as an adult 😂 I'm 26 and watching it here in the dark gave me the creeps
when i was around the age this show was made for, i thought it was fucking hilarious, i used to die laughing just thinking about it
The hockey coach is a Canadian legend Don Cherry. He is a polarizing figure. He is actually probably more incoherent and crazy than portrayed in this show.
Being a defensemen turned coach will do that to you. Lol, respect to Mr Cherry from Boston
Jon’s best work in my opinion.
I watch this religiously every year near Halloween, it’s a tradition
In defense of Don’t Go To Sleep, the book was easily my favorite Goosebumps book and was 100 times better than the episode.
Gotta mention that the coach is played by legend/basket case Don Cherry, and I really doubt they gave him a script, just told him to pretend he was coaching kids.
Pretty much only Canadians would recognize him, but every Canadian would.
I did not not notice that the first time I seen this I thought it was some guy who looked and sounded like him
Im off to revoke my Canadian birth certifacte
The magic suit guy. Yeah, I thought it was him!
My Canadian heritage came in handy!
I swear Don Cherry just brings his tailor random patterns he found at a fabric store and tells him to make a suit by the end of the week.
I lose respect for anyone that doesn’t recognize the most Canadian person this side of Gretzky.
I’m Canadian and I didn’t not know that. Yet I’m probably the only Canadian who doesn’t like hockey
Anybody remember "Popular Mechanics for Kids"? Because the the protagonist is also in that and I think that's pretty neat.
Should've been a "Creature Feature"
Featuring, “The Creature” 😱
Jon: Ah Lighten Up Terri, What Are You Screaming At?

Not Larry's fault; slapping the corn out of Lilly's dad's hand.

BEST PART of the goosebumps thing is at 14:44
This guy gets it.
Wait a minute, look in the background at 10:58, the Interdimentional 'Court of Reality' is based out of Germany?!
Ah, now that makes sense. The system of reality is run by a fascist regime.
They just won't show the actual flag for it in a kid's show.
"WE CAN SAY WE PLAYED A CONCERT IN HAWAII."
