Yes, it is very difficult to realize that she is no longer here with us, but her music, spirit, love and kindness will always remain with us. We love you Melanie -- always!

Every day would be an understatement for me for sure. I’ve lived most of my life either no common friends that share in my Melanie affection. These responses heal a lot of loneliness. Randy

I will always remember Melanie as being a nice person. I saw her a few years back at a relatively small concert in which she and her adult son sang. He was nervous, and I could tell that she was encouraging him and saying, "Go ahead. It will be alright." The son sang, and he did well. She was a mother encouraging her son. It was a personal moment and so nice to see.

It was a different era back then. The planet and people were different back then. Artists, like services and products, were scarcer then.
In the times of Melanie, the world was an open wound. No wonder she sang, “We bled into each other’s wounds.”
She hits the scene, her songs play on the radio, she was immensely popular. Carole King and Joni Mitchell are on fire, and Melanie is shoulder to shoulder with them. Hard to believe a whole lifetime has gone by and that young, sweet thing is no longer with us. It’s just hard to write and understand she is gone and only the memories remain and her music. But she is gone.

I agree with most of your comment. However, I don't believe artists were scarcer then. I believe it's an era where it was filled with true artists and honest performances.

I'm an old man who was at Woodstock when I was 19. I didn't get to hear Melanie's set, but I remember sitting in a car with some people during a rain storm on Saturday Night, and we burned a candle inside the car while listening to the Who. Back in the day one of my favorite songs was “Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)” I still listen to the song on a regular basis. It takes me right back to my youth. Rest in Peace Melanie and thanks for the memories.

Thank you for your memories. I was 18 when Woodstock happened. Unfortunately, I was married and nine months pregnant but I still want it to go to Woodstock. Luckily, or unluckily I was stopped by my husband. But her music was part of my life. She was immensely talented and underrated. But those who loved her will love her always. Rest in peace dear Melanie beautiful person.

@@KeefHWebDesigns Also in UK was only 17 and still at school when my mate and I went to the Isle of Wight festival in1970. She came on in the early hours of Saturday night/Sunday morning after a stream of heavy bands -The Who, The Doors, Emerson Lake and Palmer, 10 Years After. I'd only heard Ruby Tuesday which had been in the charts that summer and just her voice in the dark after all those groups had me enchanted. We were asked to hold up joss sticks or whatever were smoking - it would be mobile phones nowadays. I became a lifetime fan. Rest in peace and thank you for all the songs.
