    A friend's CP4 pump disintegrated while he was on a road trip in the winter, leaving him stranded in the middle of nowhere. It's lucky he survived. When he got the truck into the dealership the dealer said "Wow! This has never, ever happened before! It's one in a million!". The repairs cost him almost $12,000. I'd never consider buying a Ford truck, knowing that Ford can't even be honest about such a serious defect.

    My biggest challenge is finding a really excellent in Western NC shop to install this new pump. I vetted several diesel shops in my area off your website and honestly need a much higher level of confidence that this pump will be professionally installed. One shop said they would need my truck for two days to check for leaks? 😮 Open to suggestions before I place my order. Thanks.

    • @SSfueled
      @SSfueled  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's not a bad thing to take a little extra time to check for leaks after the fuel system has been open. In most cases it is not needed, but a little extra quality control is good. We have good confidence in the installers listed on our dealer map. They are either vetted by the distributor they buy from our by us directly if they are a direct dealer. We do not have a lot of coverage in Western NC, so you may need to expand your search into Tennessee or Georgia. Shoot an email to info@ssdiesel.com and we can recommend a few places that are Power Stroke specialists.

    Ford has provided amazing business opportunities for the aftermarket for years. The 6.0 and 6.4 diesels, and this, a clear example on the 6.7.
    My question involves Ford's lack of respect for its customers by not doing this themselves? I can understand back in 2011 when Ford and GM both started using the CP4 simply because it was lightweight, inexpensive, and it worked only to find out they were a huge problem and a fatal design flaw. GM fixed this in 2017 with its use of the Denso HP4 on the L5P diesel. Ford continues use of the CP4 and it took the aftermarket to solve this problem. Many Ford and GM 2011 to 2016 customers have had to foot the huge cost of a new fuel system and this continues with Ford 2011 to current.
    Why would anyone purchase a Ford product that has time and time again displayed such a huge disrespect for customers by continuing to use known defective parts, the CP4.2 for example? SSfueled along with Stanadyne have apparently solved this problem why didn't Ford? Why would anyone that does any amount of research buy a Ford?

    • @kelceyk8199
      @kelceyk8199 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Because despite what your anecdotal experience on the internet may indicate, the CP4 failure rate is extremely low to the point of being a non-issue. Less than 1%. Combined with the fact that the ford trucks are usually of much higher quality overall in the chassis and body than GM and Chrysler, that's your answer.

    • @SSfueled
      @SSfueled  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. Due to how the DCR is designed, it will not generate fine metal debris if it does fail. It does not have a tool steel roller and cam like the CP4. That is what creates the fine debris that takes out the rest of the fuel system. Failures happen with everything, so it would be irresponsible for us to say that the DCR will never fail. So far, it has held up well and there have been two cases of trucks getting water in their fuel and the DCR survived it. We can't guarantee that every DCR will handle fuel contamination, but it's a possibility. We offer a two-year unlimited-mile warranty on the DCR, and if for some freak reason it fails and sends debris through the injectors, we'll make it right.

    • @SSfueled
      @SSfueled  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for choosing S&S to protect your fuel system. We don't blame you for wanting extra filtration, even on the return side. The good news is that you will not need it. The DCR eccentric drive is unlikely to make metal, even if it does fail. Unlike the CP4, the DCR case and plungers are fed independently, which is the same as running a disaster prevention kit. Due to differences in the pump, the bypass portion of our DPK will not physically fit the DCR. The return filter assembly portion of the kit does not connect to the pump, so it is possible to retain that part with a DCR install. We're confident that the return filter is not needed with a DCR, but it will not hurt anything to keep it on if you want.

    • @SSfueled
      @SSfueled  ปีที่แล้ว

      We designed this to be a durability improvement and have not tested for increased power. The DCR has 25% more displacement, but that may not necessarily equate to a 25% power increase (if the calibration calls for it). Since it will be CARB compliant, just installing the conversion by itself will not increase output in any way. We do not recommend changing the calibration on street-driven vehicles.

    Sounds cool. Your validation testing did include running fuel contaminated with water and DEF, right?

    • @SSfueled
      @SSfueled  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The DCR is designed to run on diesel, so that is what we are validating for. It could be more resistant to contaminants, but we want to make sure it's 100% under normal conditions first. Even though the OEs don't validate for contaminated fuel, maybe that would be something worth testing as an added benefit. Thanks for the idea.

    • @originalchilehed
      @originalchilehed ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SSfueled Thanks for the honest reply! As I understand it, most CP4 pumps don’t fail when using uncontaminated fuel with good lubricity, so when doing a redesign it’s not enough to show that a sample of the new pumps also don’t fail when using good fuel. To truly demonstrate an improvement you need to show that a contamination level that will cause, let’s say, 50% of a sample of CP4 pumps to fail in 48 hours, will not cause any of the redesigned pumps to fail when testing more of them for longer periods of time. It should only take a couple of months on a test bench to do such testing, and being able to say that you did it would be a great marketing point.
      That being said, the design changes you've described do sound very promising.

      The DCRs are brand new pumps that do not require a core charge from S&S. It seems that there is a bit of confusion we need to clear up with Injectors Direct. They are a great stocking dealer and we do not want to discourage purchasing from them. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we'll get it sorted out.

      @SSfueled thanks for the reply. I emailed them asking why they are changing a core charge, and it's was because they wanted to rebuild the cp4. I assume to convert it to a cpx. The core is 200. I guess a discount code that got 100 off the core, but it just seems ridiculous to charge a core for what needs to be phased out. I would have liked to have bought from s&s directly, but I was told I had to go through a dealer. Yall emailed me 3 dealers that were out of stock, and even their prices fluctuated by 100-200. I'll gladly send my invoice to you. The next disappointment was I had originally orded from xdp that showed it as backordered after checkout. The date it was expected was 7/17, and then it'd get moved a few more days once it was within 7 days of the 17th. I will say injectors direct got it to me fast. Thanks

      @@hairtrigger903 Thanks for sharing your feedback. Typically, all injectors and pumps we sell are sold on an exchange basis (with a core return required) even if a core return is not required by the manufacturer. Some manufacturers require cores to be returned on new parts, while others do not. We find it is easier and simpler to require a core on everything. Most customers have no use for their old CP4 pump (in many cases they are eager to be rid of it), and have no problem sending it in as a core. We do not require you to pay a core deposit up front in order to purchase a DCR conversion kit. We have the option available to place a temporary hold on a credit card until the core is returned to avoid paying any core deposit up front. To be clear - in the case of the @ssfueled DCR pump, S&S does not require a core return. That requirement comes from us, and we do what we can to work with our customers and make it easy for them. As you experienced, we have the the DCR kits in stock, ready to ship the same day, and are offering them for the best price available at $1990.00. If a customer has an extenuating circumstance that would require them to keep their old CP4 pump, we invite them to reach out to us and discuss what options we have available. We would be happy to work with anyone to help them get the parts they need to get their truck back on the road. Hope this clears up any confusion. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to Daniel at 1-800-500-0980 or send an email to customerservice@injectorsdirect.com. Thanks!

      @SSfueled good luck clearing it up. "Most people are reluctant to send us a cp4" my cp4 is still working its worth more than the core, if something goes south on the dcr.
