"It made me show more gratitude " the man says, he complaints about his mother being overbearing and needing distance, she will die in a few years, whether 20 or 30 or 40 and he will be sorry, I loved his cup though. He will be a nightmare as a partner as long as he resents his mother so much

@@AznDudeIsOn Thank you so much! This is really a very hard time for everyone. But I try to take it one day at a time and try to be as present as I can with all the people I love and I come across with.
To return you the favour, I would like to tell you about this wonderful podcast:
It is made by the most beloved psychology professor at Yale University, Laurie Santos. After seeing how many of the students were suffering from depression and anxiety, she decided to offer a class called " The science of happiness" and it soon became the most visited class at Yale. On her podcast " The Happiness Lab ", she shares all the insights she offers to her students on those lectures.
Many greetings and best wishes :- )

What if you are dealing with a sociopath? It seems to me none of this advice applies? Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid them?

I really resent the tone of this conversation, first of all the snide remark about the overbearing jewish mother, when there are so many people without mothers or with abusive mothers, and then this therapist is really not getting it, if people COULD communicate, there would not be a job for therapists!
How this man is teaching when he is obviously so hostile and disrespectful to his mother is beyond me . he is a jerk.

@@chilloften i agree,,,, It comes from the term alpha (most commonly seen as alpha male) and means the opposite of what alpha does; rather than being strong and dominant, someone who is "beta" is weak and has no backbone to stand up for themselves.
