Painting on the inside of the RC body also gives it the glossy look. Outside will turn out more matte/semi gloss. Multiple very light coats for the best finish and if you want the colour lighter or darker, back it with white or black

These are always my favorite videos. People getting and showing their new garages. I remember when Sammit got one of his garages and I watched every single video of him renovating it. It's so fun to watch the progress. And Nightride's videos are so sweet of just them moving stuff around. Getting the new place is going to be so awesome!!!

I was into it, and man, it’s an addictive hobby and very fun. I wouldn’t be amazed if you ended up buying more RC’s in the future. It would be great to have your friend into it also. Those plans are for a dream man-cave. The “facility” you’re not referring to, is a separate project, with a different goal. That’s easily understood bro. Keep those plans in a safe place for the future. A safe place to keep your collection and to chill with the boys.

Nice pivot sir! Just double check to ensure your permit won’t expire. In City of L.A., you have 18 months to pull permit. Once a permit is issued, it is valid for a year. You have to call for a pre-inspection every so often to keep the permit active from that point forward.
You will keep growing and succeeding and that garage WILL be built...but it will be a place for YOU to store your favorite cars and have time and events with your close friends and family!!! I went through the same process...on a much smaller scale here in NorCal a few years ago...so I feel your pain...I pivoted away from the garagemahal to a big outdoor kitchen/hangout space since I'm not here forever and went with what will be best for resale someday...but you will want that garage for yourself soon..and it WILL happen....all the best!

Just saw the end of the video where you asked for pictures. I don’t have pictures as it is stored at my Mothers house. If you have any interest, I can get some pictures and forward to you. It is dark grey and body is in perfect condition. It just needs to be powered into 2024 and I think you and your team can do it.

With the RC car shell dont forget if you put black on after the blue it will darken it down, Or same with gray or white. Its same as painting a real car just in reverse. You can get smart flip paints for them.
I think this is great for you TJ, you had other changes come since this idea was created and it makes sense to have somewhere else than your house for a shop. Still pursue the dream garage, because you deserve it. On a similar note, just from looking at the video, make sure you move those utilities first if you need to, because it will take longer than you expect.

Agreed.. I would just suggest that after you get used to that 4wd car, get yourself a 2wd drifter for a different feel (more akin to real car). MST RMX 2.5 is a great suggestion. And you don't have to build it as it comes as an RTR.

The RC body will also have a protective film on the outside so after you have painted it the paint will look a bit flat until you remove the film, seen a few people not realise this in the past and place sticker that cam with kits on film and wonder why it doesn't look right.

I got into rc cars over covid and super geeked out on it. I fell in love with the off road ones from Traxxas. I think you would love the slash 4x4 or Traxxas UDR. They are rocket ships. Super durable and incredibly fun. The mods are endless and the bodies are endless as well. They have a Mercedes g wag 4x4^2 to 70s broncos to trophy trucks to anything u want 1/10 and 1/8 scale is endless
excited about the rc content. maybe your friends will get into it? plus it's fun to hang out at the rc track Trick for model paint if you wanna use Midnight Purple: Use clear bodyshell paint as a first layer for the model paint to stick to, spray your color till it looks right, then seal it with a grey, silver, white or black undercoat (depending on if you want it to look darker or lighter)
So in terms of the color on the RC car, spazstix makes color shifting paint that will get pretty close to midnight purple. When you spray it on, it will look almost transparent. Do two or three coats of it, then back it with black, and all of a sudden it will be that changing color paint. This needs to be done on the inside obviously. You also screwed up on a couple other aspects of the body, specifically you have to mask the windows on the inside before painting, and you put stickers on the body without removing the overspray mask on the outside of the body. You want to leave that overspray mask on until you finish painting, then you remove the window masking and the overspray mask on the outside and put on the stickers. Spazstix SZX05709 green/purple/teal backed with SZX00119 black backer (both available in spray cans) will get you a color that is pretty close.
Get yourself a Tamiya airbrush to start with. It has parts that are interchangeable with Iwata airbrushed as the same company makes both! Test your paint out on a soda bottle 😉

teej, before you paint that 34 body. Wash the inside of it with warm/hot water and dawn soap, scrub it with a sponge. Couple of coats, Then back it with either black for a darker blue, or white for a lil bit brighter blue. mask off the headlight and taillights if you are gonna run the light buckets. There is a plastic protective sheet over the outside of the body. I hope you pulled it off before putting the stickers on lol. And its easier to line up bodyposts while the body is unpainted. Unplug the battery in the chassis while not in use to preserve the battery power/umph, and battery life. and if its lipo, charge it properly so it doesnt go up in flames lol.
I've had a tt01 for nearly 10 years 😂 stock l.c arm and tie rods will brake.. just replace what you can with aluminium parts . TT chassis are the best rc drifting platform imo

Still think you should build some kind of garage down on the land even a 60x60 garage for the extra cars so you don't have to park any outside. Keep the dailys parked in the attacked garage and the other in off site garage. Maybe even give Sabrina a spot in the main garage 😂
Tip: lexan paint can be painted on the outside, if you want a flat paint accent that paint no matter what color will be flat. I've used it on the outside of bodies for bumpers, or stripes that need to be flat or if you want the whole body flat. Then paint the inside a primer color and when the outside gets scratched, the primer will show through from the inside.
I think long term this is 100% best decision. You need to keep work & private life seperate and that would be hard with the shop next door to your home.

I went through this same rc phase but not quite as spendy, I got a 4tec 2.0 AWD car and just put a new body on it, another tip I heard was to cover the back side of your blue paint in a couple coats of black because when your body flexes or when you crash it too hard you can still damage the paint.
It’s only worth a promise if it’s something the viewers can visit it at anytime and not just during certain events. If that’s not possible then it’s a promise you broke to yourself as that’s a self goal and not a group/team goal. As viewers we just ask for continued and consistent content.

Tj sick garage it looks like its supposed to be in GTA 5 or 6 but your right an off site garage or facility would be way better off for hosting and events and then you can always go back to building your own personal garage on your land just for you and your private collection and to hang out or film certain vids there and as always keep up the great work 👍
The lesson here is to stay open minded and flexible and be ready to pivot, don’t get locked in to tunnel vision

When painting an RC body, DO NOT forget to peal off the clear protective wrap AFTER you paint the car. It is there to prevent overspray.

Unplug the battery in the chassis while not in use to preserve the battery power/umph, and battery life. and if its lipo, charge it properly so it doesnt go up in flames lol.
I've had a tt01 for nearly 10 years 😂 stock l.c arm and tie rods will brake.. just replace what you can with aluminium parts . TT chassis are the best rc drifting platform imo

Still think you should build some kind of garage down on the land even a 60x60 garage for the extra cars so you don't have to park any outside. Keep the dailys parked in the attacked garage and the other in off site garage. Maybe even give Sabrina a spot in the main garage 😂
Tip: lexan paint can be painted on the outside, if you want a flat paint accent that paint no matter what color will be flat. I've used it on the outside of bodies for bumpers, or stripes that need to be flat or if you want the whole body flat. Then paint the inside a primer color and when the outside gets scratched, the primer will show through from the inside.
I think long term this is 100% best decision. You need to keep work & private life seperate and that would be hard with the shop next door to your home.

I went through this same rc phase but not quite as spendy, I got a 4tec 2.0 AWD car and just put a new body on it, another tip I heard was to cover the back side of your blue paint in a couple coats of black because when your body flexes or when you crash it too hard you can still damage the paint.
Smart move to pivot. Plus home will feel like home and work will be distinct
It’s only worth a promise if it’s something the viewers can visit it at anytime and not just during certain events. If that’s not possible then it’s a promise you broke to yourself as that’s a self goal and not a group/team goal. As viewers we just ask for continued and consistent content.

Tj sick garage it looks like its supposed to be in GTA 5 or 6 but your right an off site garage or facility would be way better off for hosting and events and then you can always go back to building your own personal garage on your land just for you and your private collection and to hang out or film certain vids there and as always keep up the great work 👍
