  • Things change when you take ownership for your part in the problem. When you let down your wall of defensiveness, stop looking to blame, and admit that you have role, you can FINALLY empower yourself to make changes. If it’s always someone else’s problem, you’ll always be stuck where you are.
    WHERE TO START:
    1. Begin talking about it. Go to couples therapy or to a safe space and start brining up these conversations with your partner. You have to communicate about it to understand where you each stand.
    2. Choose ONE thing to focus on at a time. Trying to fix everything all at once will overwhelm you. Choose one area where you know you can make a change, and set goals on that one area for now.
    3. Celebrate your small wins. Healing is a long process, celebrate the little moments along the way where you feel connected and hopeful. You are worth celebrating!
(Not applying this to cases of ab*se, ab*se is never your fault.)
(Also, these characters are ACTING 🤓 and this is not a representation of their relationship, this is a compilation of a variety of themes I have noticed in my couples therapy and coaching career.)
