I know when I started junk journals, I was lucky as I used all my left-over scrapbook supplies from years ago, I discovered when I was a scrapbooker I did spend too much money at craft shows. I know better now and use anything I can lay my hands on, I use corrugated paper and bubble wrap, tissue paper and left over material, I also collect window envelopes from junk mail, when your starting just go with the flow and see what you like more, either collaging or painting or drawing or whatever. We all have the talent to create. Cheryl you are right about decluttering things as you know I've donated to many people and organizations. I now know how to control my stash. Thankyou Cheryl, love your channel. God Bless.x
Thank you Debbie for your kind words. Yes indeed we don't need to spend too much. So many things we can recycle and be resourceful with. I have definitely benefitted from your decluttering!!!! Thank you 😊❤️
Thank you, this is perfect advice. I wrote it all down in rainbow colors, and credited your channel, so I can hand it out to library patrons who come to junk journal this summer. I am handing out a list of youtube channels for participants to watch for help and ideas and yours is one of my favorites so I will be sure to highlight it. I hope you might see a tiny uptick of traffic from it. (ha ha. I might get 12 participants if I am lucky, but still I wish you so much luck!)
Thank you for sharing your video. Great notes on how to begin. Don't overwhelm yourself. Creative journaling can be therapeutic, fun, comforting to a stressful day. Happy Journaling ❣️
This is fantastic. No one every says, start small! I have so many unfinished junk journals, because a lot of ladies have gorgeous big books, but it takes ages for me to fill it up! So I think I need to downsize and I'm always feared of making mistakes yet I'm not a perfectionist.🤔🤷♀️weird. I have anxiety disorders, and sure to get overwhelmed a lot. Thankyou so much. Happy crafting 🇦🇺💖
It's something I decided to do when I first started as I was so overwhelmed with making journals and the bigger sizes for storage. Once I completed my first journal, it gave me such confidence to keep going! Glad it's helping you. Thank you for watching 🙂 xCheryl
I felt like starting with a note book I already had instead of making a journal from scratch was helpful because I could start right away with making collages.
Thank you so much for your keen advice .. l to am a newbie in junk journaling and yes l find very overwhelming .. However, since watching your video l feel a little less nervous about starting my journal .. l had ordered a book sized journal but l think l’m going to find a smaller book and l know l have stuff sitting around my apartment l can start out with to place in my journal .. Your 10 points were excellent advice! Thanks again!! 😊🇨🇦👍
Why is there always a reason to call our selfs beginners? And the urge to always wanting or better yet needing to get better of something because off other people? I am doing all this stuff for years but only the last few months i am starting to feeling a little joy because i am slowly letting go of the must and the beginner/professional mindset i got stuck with when i started😊
@onbeingwhole - Do you have any other tips for a beginner? Which tip do you find most helpful? 😊

Best to have no expectations and explore. Certainly brings much joy and freedom 🙂
Use your imagination... Make a book out of whatever you can find: paper, packaging, mail, etc. Then just add to it scraps of things, daily.
Hope this will help you in your journey 🙂
