I lost my Mom 2022🤧 so I actually took all the sympathy cards and made my first Junk journal. I titled it "I love you to the moon and back" Still adding little things . Thank you for great tips still new at this so learning.
I’m so glad that there’s a creative way to store all of these things! I’m a person that gets sentimental over the tiniest of trinkets or objects that some people wouldn’t think another minute of. I’ve always kept little things like valentine cards, papers my friends gave me, etc. i never knew what to do with it, but at the same time I don’t want to throw it away. I’ll definitely try this out, it seems so fun!!
I hope you do try it out! It's addicting and a perfect way to preserve those little things you collect. It's amazing flipping through one once it's been filled up. It's like you made art out of your memories.
I’m very happy to report that I have made it! I finished it a few hours ago, and it was really nice looking at something that was created completely by myself. I’m really excited to fill it up with my memories!
Just reading your comment, my husband accidentally washed his wallet with some “forever stamps” and he was going to toss them. They nevertheless will be used in my junk journals. One man’s junk is another woman’s treasure!!!
I feel and do the exact same thing! People don't seem to understand me though so I stopped talking about it, my friend once tore a paper I had wanted to put in my notebook, we're still friends but I'm not sure why she did that.
Talking about going down a rabbit hole. I hardly ever watched TH-cam until about two years ago myself. One channel took me to another to another. So much art in so many different forms has entered my life and my small craft area.
My very first JJ was made up of post cards, birthday and Christmas cards etc. that my grandfather sent to my grandmother when he was courting her (this was around 1915). It took me three years to put together. I included quite a lot of ephemera from around that time, photos of them and their family. I gave it to my daughter who is into genealogy and heritage .. she loves it and keeps it as a reference for her genealogy ...
I'm 73 and sounds wonderful to me,your such a beautiful girl showing us gals how to make beautiful memories into wonderful journals, thank you sweetheart!
Great explanation of junk journaling and examples😊 Thank you. Also want to add that I think you and Melissa Orday ( Abby Newman- Y&R) have a remarkable resemblance 😉
You did very well explaining what Junk Journal and Ephemera both are. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely and sentimental journals so that it will help others to get started in this fun and creative way to keep and store their memories.
I painted on canvases, and when I heard and saw journaling on youtube I thought it was crazy. However I thought I 'd try it.. and I found out that it's amazing ...i do it mostly for painting and my art has improved so much. I must have 10 art journals. Love love love.
Thank you for explaining junk journaling. You have really helped. It's so confusing. I've always dreamed be scrapbooking some this kinda like that but different.
I have never been interested in scrapbooking But this junk journaling idea seems fun and a great way to save sentimental things, recycle, along with using creativity and even therapeutic I bet! Thank you!
After years of decoupage-ing, I also just recently went down that rabbit whole by chance on TH-cam and I find it a very pleasant, creative, fun and great place to be! And I enjoy that I can take my decopage into a new area! Your junk journals are very personal and unique. I really like them! Thanks for explaining and sharing! 🤗🌻🦋
Ooh a fellow Junk Journal Addict. Mine have become quite arty, have made about 30 now I think. I use watercolour paints in them and do journal spreads. So much fun!!!!!! Joie 💜🌿
I actually just discovered junk journaling☺️. I’ve been so overwhelmed as to where to start and this has really helped me to decide what to do! I have three children. One in Heaven. I also have 12 grands💖. I think this will be very therapeutic for me🙏🏼 thank you!
I watched your junk journal tutorial and I loved it! That was my first time hearing of a junk journal. I can now say, you are the reason I have started junk journaling. Thank you! I needed something to pour all my creative thoughts on.
You explained it very well. Now I need to get busy. You gave me the idea for what to do with all the notes and cards I’ve saved over the years. Maybe I’ll make one for each of my kids (4) with cards, pictures, etc. that are relevant to them, leaving space for them to write something about the events.
You just introduced me to junk journaling ( thank you, thank you!!) and I think it's something I should try. I FEEL creative, but my EXECUTION is never right. Crooked lines, off-centered, imperfections galore! Junk journals have that beautiful, perfect imperfection that I've had so much (unintentional) practice with 😂. Thank you for your great explanation, and I'm excited to get started! 😍
You chose some great people. Here’s 2 more I absolutely love. Pam at The Paper Outpost. And Shannon Green. Shannon makes all kinds of journals and she’s fun to watch.
I'm so happy to see your junk journals and hear your explanation. I get the idea that it's the place to store the "stuff" that wouldn't necessarily go into a "formal" scrapbook page. I like that it"s not Perfect and that recycled paper is used.
I don’t know if you see your comments this long after videos are posted, but I wanted to say thank you for the great intro. I have been trying to explain to a friend what junk journaling is and your video has made it much easier
Thanks for the explanation- I realized that I made one of these in high school ages ago by accident! I love this idea because I keep all sorts of bits and pieces from events, etc.. and this will be a great way to keep them all together.
Great job explaining junk journals. I am new to it all too and also went down the same rabbit hole! I love seeing what other people use their journals for and how they make theirs.
Thanks for your explanation of a junk journal.. I started out with my bible journals and then started making Travel Notebooks and now I'm making Altered Books.. It's all fun. I'm making an altered book for my Sunday school class Christmas party to be auctioned off and I needed to explain what it is because I'm sure most of them will not know. Thanks again for your help!
Thanks for watching Nancy! I love Bible Journaling! Haven't done it in awhile, but it's a great way to study the Word and memorize. I bought a Bible with space on the side to write and I love coloring and water painting scriptures. I think that's amazing you're creating an altered book for auction. I'm glad I could help with the explanation! 😁
Agreed.TH-cam is awesome for discovering so much and learning a whole lot about things for free and that’s how I discover junk journaling myself just recently is watching TH-cam videos and I’m so glad I found this hobby which I absolutely have a passion for and want to learn more every day about what to put in journals
I followed the TH-cam rabbit hole and found you and now I feel I found a creative outlet for all my many ephemera items... thank you!! I’ll be watching your other videos on junk journals and such to help with this creative process as well!!
Watching this in the Covid 19 lockdown in 2020. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience on Junk Journaling. If I am remembering correctly, I think I read that junk journals also started at a time when paper was a precious commodity and people didn't have money to spend on much more than necessities. So, if they had an old ledger or some kind of registry they would reuse it and paste things that they wanted to keep inside. Thank you for sharing your creative journals.
This was very helpful. I've been scrapbooking and art journaling for years and only recently gotten interested in junk journaling. I'd like to bind my own journals but also am interested in using TNs rather than making my own. Thank you!
I love making journals!! I never have a theme, since to me it means junk, little objects or trinkets that are sentimental to you. Or an experience you had, little weird stuff you find interesting :) thank you for your take on this as well!!
I love junk journaling! Totally hooked. I do themed junk journals, bird journal, and -- like you said -- journals that are more like scrapbooking. Thanks for taking the time to talk about this wonderful craft! xxLynn
I had not heard of "Junk Journaling" before, but I like it. I bought a scrapbook but never put anything in it as it seemed to fussy and didn't think I could do it justice, but this looks like fun.
I can understand you quite well, fell recently in love with junk journaling and feel already addicted .sometimes i cannot sleep, becsuse i think of trying a method and just resist Standing up again to immedeatly start eworking,... Great, that i found such a love💮
Thanks. I just discovered junk journaling recently, and I'm amazed and totally overwhelmed in a good way! You explained it well, because there are some basic ideas, but the bottom line is, it can be whatever you want it to be. Such an amazing creative outlet!
I found JJ on TH-cam, too, while trying to learn how to do a Bullet Journal. Didn’t know JJ even existed. Been doing for a bit under a year now. I never liked the “Creative Memories” way. My inner JJ came out during COVID!
Love your video on junk journaling. I have 6 children and in-law children and several grandchildren, that I would love to make a junk journal for each of them. Thank you so much. I will be looking forward to looking at the rest of your videos.
I love this. Thanks for explaining. I used to have a big calendar on my wall when I was a kid and all the fun or neat thing for the month would get attached to the calendar. 45 years later I still have these wonderful memories and laugh at what I thought was so important at 12 years old. I am going to get back to this. I just toss all of these fun memories in a box now
This is exactly what I want to do! I want to do traditional stuff~ paper bags, magazines, leaflets, junk mail, etc :D I am a beginner who hasn't even started yet~ just looking for ideas~ I wanna do one in memorial of my parents who passed away 10 years ago
Loved this video. I also found junk journaling through TH-cam and these days it’s what I really look forward to. I definitely use it most as an art form and have gotten tons of suppplies
That’s exactly what happened to me! I just ‘bumped’ into a video and was awestruck. All these boxes, folders, and files I have saved. I asked several U tubers to tell me what you’re doing. NO ONE ANSWERED! So, thank you so much for explaining this art to me. It will probably be an awful mess on my first try, but I am going to try it! Thanks.
Cute, clever idea! Used to have a bunch of that stuff. Don’t know if I still do but I like the idea. The one for your kids would be a great place to keep kids artwork. Could even use the artwork to make the pages.
I used to be an avid scrapbooker yrs ago when my kids were smaller they are 29 and 27 now lol this is a great an quik way to do tht i love this idea..my dad past away 3yrs ago and i think this will be a beautiful gift idea something for my mom i can put some of my dads things we kept of my dads right now most of it is stored away Or some things tht should've been thrown out but i could not throw out no way the tiniest piece of paper had a memory for me at least right now him and i would go out on boat and go fishing alll day and also done lots of night fishing lots and lits of fishing trips lol so ya little things like tht has a memory for me i miss him so much he was my best friend. him being gone is still new to us so i think this is something i can do with alot of the things she and i have put away what an awesome way to display them where she can look at or just see it or walk by it everyday and maybe just skim thru it if she wanted or she could just go thru it to calm her if shes having a bad day or just to help her get thru her bad day.. Thank you for sharing this what a great way to share or save and store those wonderful memories without actually storing them away thank you i love this idea
What an excellent explanation and examples of junk journals. I've learned how to make mini albums, soap, beaded jewelry and charms, junk journals, travelers notebooks ... all on TH-cam! I'm always learning about new things to create. tfs

oooooo.....i would love to try to make one for my oldest daughter's upcoming bridal shower and wedding. i, her sisters, and aunt are planning her shower for october...and the same bunch of us are helping with planning her wedding!! this is right up her alley.
I LOVE this, especially your Peter Rabbit book - I remember those books! I had some handed down from my older sisters... please do a video on the travelers notebooks and how to create the signatures for them! I love the idea of them used as a junk journal for each trip!
There’s a lot of different ideas of what a junk journal is. Some look at it as how you’re talking about it, and others look at it as a book made out of all junk pieces. I believe a junk journal, or any journal, can be whatever we perceive it to be 😊
He’ll, just found You today, I’ve just started junk journaling myself. I’m actually in the middle of filming my very first process video. I’m really liking it so far though, but it’s a definite stretch from what I’m used to on my channel :-) thanks for sharing your thoughts and processes
I'm a new subbieI!!!! I'm with you on junk journaling!!!! I'm from the JUNK world and have kind of lost my creative mojo b/c of all the digi craze. Not saying anything bad about digis, I have bought and used them! On a creative nature, I find that digis can be a stumbling block! Love your collection of journals! Very refreshing!!!! Excited to see more!!!!!
I love the video. Very informative. They look really nice, and like fun. Wish I stumbled on this sooner. I have so much in ephemera. I am so making a few of these. 😊.
Hey good lady could you do a tutorial on a ring binder journal. I'm doing one on dragons and I'm so so stuck on the cover. Do I go around the rings, just up to the rings or leave it plain
In my understanding, this is an art/craft/memories/scrapbooking journal. A junk journal, in its strictest sense, is made with junk mail, packaging, and things actually bound for the trash. Beautiful craft.
I lost my Mom 2022🤧 so I actually took all the sympathy cards and made my first Junk journal. I titled it "I love you to the moon and back" Still adding little things . Thank you for great tips still new at this so learning.

Oh my goodness your video was by far the best one with a great explanation of "What is it used for?" Loved the video I give you 2 thumbs up 👍👍
Sorry for out of topic, BUT you kinda look like Amanda Seyfried/Margot Robbie. So pretty~
I have heard Margot Robbie alot. Thank you so much for the compliment!
Yes you look both of them
I was going to say Amanda Seyfried too!
Great explanation of junk journaling and examples😊 Thank you. Also want to add that I think you and Melissa Orday ( Abby Newman- Y&R) have a remarkable resemblance 😉
I was thinking the same thing. Especially the Amanada!
I love the idea of using junk mail for junk journals! The never-ending resource :) Great video :)

It is not necessary memories, is things you normally throw out you can create something beautiful. But yes you can add memories. Very beautiful.
Thanks for the explanation- I realized that I made one of these in high school ages ago by accident! I love this idea because I keep all sorts of bits and pieces from events, etc.. and this will be a great way to keep them all together.
So did I !! I didn't know that was what I was doing. What fun !
Great job explaining junk journals. I am new to it all too and also went down the same rabbit hole! I love seeing what other people use their journals for and how they make theirs.
Very well explained. Thanks. When I made these in 1970 they called them Scrapbooks. Memorabilia from our travels and life events.

NO ONE ANSWERED! So, thank you so much for explaining this art to me. It will probably be an awful mess on my first try, but I am going to try it! Thanks.

What an excellent explanation and examples of junk journals. I've learned how to make mini albums, soap, beaded jewelry and charms, junk journals, travelers notebooks ... all on TH-cam! I'm always learning about new things to create. tfs
Making soap is on my list of things to learn! Thanks for watching!!
3:07 I also realize the same thing. That I was always saving souvenirs from trips and didn’t know what to do with them. It wasn’t until January 2020 that I discovered junk/art journaling. Now I regret not saving more souvenirs from my trip to Europe.
I think a project that was called a smash book has transitioned into junk journals.
Smash books and junk journals serve the same purpose 😨🙂
l love your junk journal examples. Junk journaling is so much fun. I also love watching your hauls. Have a great day.
Love your take on junk journals! To me it's exactly what a jj should be. ❤
Do you have an intro letter to what junk journaling is so if you give one to a friend a letter could be attached? I’m not good at wording things so I thought an intro letter would help someone to understand.
So glad I found your channel today. I liked, subscribed, and look forward to learning more and getting ideas.
I love how you can hand make it and it's just a way to store memories on little trinkets
I'm a total crafting newbie and this was very useful to me 👏
Thank you for explaining that to me...I came across The Paper Outpost recently and I'm trying to get started with Junk Journaling for the crafting side 💚 But I wasn't sure exactly what it was... Now I know 💙So glad I came across your post 💌 Thank you 😊

He’ll, just found You today, I’ve just started junk journaling myself. I’m actually in the middle of filming my very first process video. I’m really liking it so far though, but it’s a definite stretch from what I’m used to on my channel :-) thanks for sharing your thoughts and processes
Thank you for explaining! Enjoyed this video
This is a really good explanation. Johanna is one of my favorites.
Great video... Thank you. I would like to know the supplies and the hand binding/sewing without the sewing machine.
Hello and welcome to the channel! 🥰
I love the video. Very informative. They look really nice, and like fun. Wish I stumbled on this sooner. I have so much in ephemera. I am so making a few of these. 😊.
I loved your junk journals! So wonderful 😊
Thanks Karen!
Hey good lady could you do a tutorial on a ring binder journal. I'm doing one on dragons and I'm so so stuck on the cover. Do I go around the rings, just up to the rings or leave it plain
Thanks for sharing your journals. You explained everything really well. I recently started junk journaling & posting videos so this is very helpful.
It’s pretty interesting the explanation of journal and everything about it
great ideas, really nice...thanks for posting
In my understanding, this is an art/craft/memories/scrapbooking journal.
A junk journal, in its strictest sense, is made with junk mail, packaging, and things actually bound for the trash.
Beautiful craft.
I love Journaling! That explanation it was very helpfull and your Journals are very nice!
