This is kind of your life motto. Be open and honestly about yourself the good, the bad, and the ugly. Especially now fast forward to 2021 that's the very thing the CCP doesn't do which you are critical of them for it.
I'm sure you now have a new deeper appreciation for the concerns your ex-wife had, and maybe because other than you everyone she had to encounter were PRC Chinese it made her situation all the more worst as you said in another video of you slapping pro CCP foreign TH-camrs, you said "you need to know understand the Chinese language to understand China's problems."
By the way, I know nothing about your ex-wife. Haven't seen any of those videos, just the topic of this post, "What happened to beer grill?" Catches the eye. And ya, happy you, your current wife and daughter were able to safely get out of China before Hong Kong fell. God bless the Hong Kong people and the Chinese people dispite their shit hole government who is too afraid to deal with their current and past mistakes. Not a Trump fan but I think the term describes China's current government leadership policy. Trump did get one thing right, and that was to vouch for Taiwan and stand up to China.
One of the early things that really bugged me about my own mom is that after her first divorce, she tossed all the old photo albums, as she wanted to get rid of everything that reminded her of her mistakes and things she didn't want to think about. The big problem for me personally is that those albums included all the pictures of me when I was a baby and small child, so the only pix if have of that time are from copies I made from photos that my grandparents had, from the time that mom used to send copies to relatives. I learned from mom's mistake, so I kept all the photos and everything from the first wedding and marriage, as it is part of who I am. Thus, I have especial respect for Winston, as it is all public, not just archived in a box in a closet somewhere. Cheers, dude!

I was married to a Japanese girl that wanted 85% control. It wasn't worth it. I divorced her. Now she has changed and is no longer attempting control on me, it's back to how it was before her control issues, and still today, we are living together. I am grateful that she changed back. At least I know I'm happy.

I think it's awesome that you share your life with us. Ive watched your videos since 2012 and it's very interesting to see a person's life change as I do as well.
I don't think you should see your past with mistakes, rather phases in life. Yes you may have done something wich wasn't optimal but yet you were very happy during that period. You learned a lot and thus I don't think they are mistakes, rather phases and learning opportunities.
I like how you have your own style, and I'm glad to hear everything is going well for you.

I think what happens is that people find your channel and then start watching from the oldest videos and work their way to the newest. It's what I did when I started watching this channel a few years ago.

I married a doctor (and yes, I was a nurse) because I loved him. People told me it was a big mistake because doctors cheat in their marriages. That was about forty years ago and we, with our two sons) have a very happy life. BTW, you are so much like Son #2 that it feels like I'm listening to him (he's in Japan). You are beyond awesome so STAY THAT WAY!

I have similar past as yours. I seldom mentioned it because I was ashamed of it. I got married too young and didn't know each other very well when we got married.Finally, I found we are completely different kind of persons and quite different outlook for life. He constantly cheated on me and has mistress outside. My heart was full of mistrust on him. 5 years ago, we got divorced. Difference is , we had a son 7 years old at that time.

I've heard some similar stories from expats living in Japan. The way it typically goes is the couple moves to Japan for work related purposes, but the wife isn't very happy living there and can't recover from the culture shock, so she leaves. This is actually a pretty common problem. It's definitely something people need to be aware of if they're married and contemplated moving to another country for whatever reason.
Winston looks like Edward Burns in this video, just noticed the resemblance.

I will never understand all the hatred and suspicion I get from my present wife (Chinese) about any picture, video, or even knick knacks that I have that my ex-wife may have bought me. She throws away and pictures with my ex-wife in them and gives me all kinds of jealous flack if I put up any resistance to it. I'm sorry but I was with my ex-wife for 7 years and it was a big part of my life. Not all of which was terrible. But why should I have to erase a huge chunk of my life because my wife thinks I am secretly pining for my ex? Is this a cultural thing, or just something specific to my girl?

Culture and age. My first husband's family, Chinese and British, ruined our marriage. Multiple examples I won't go in to.
My second marriage was more practical, we used his baking ex's baking skill to make a wedding cake. Saved money, got the chocolate cake I wanted instead of the crap white cake.

Do you date and get to know each other before jumping into marriage? Ideally you could live together for a bit (crash at her place or vice versa) to learn each other's habits and ticks before getting married as well.
LOL xD Crashing at someone's place will not prepare you for living with them, let alone the situation of one of you relocating to a different "country"/way of life (Hong Kong vs mainland China). While it is good advice that you give, you gotta go a lot further, I think ;)
boycot gugle I agree that crashing does not give you the full picture, but it's better than nothing. You get a glimpse of how they live (style, cleanliness, etc.) and see them "at their worst" first thing in the morning.

Things have changed alot. China was a little different when he moved there because he was uninitiated, Hong kong was still free'sh so you could go there to decompress, not anymore though.
