Sorry for late comment, been on the road... So you finally got it! At any rate, what you heard was in fact cold start rod knock. It is when the anti-drain back valve on the oil filter allows oil to drain away from the engine and the engine basically starts up dry. Damage is usually minimal at worst. I hear it all the time when I change the oil on my "for sale cars", because I always change the oil, an when I do I always install the filter dry. It saves time. On my own personal vehicles I don't hear it because I always pre-fill the filter. As far as your pick of an enhanced vehicle... You have develope a sense/intuition/game-plan of a successful salesman

A 6k car tops! 20 grand over retail is nuts and they preyed on her as an uneducated car buyer who was desperate for decent transportation. I went and helped her find a local bank that would finance her into an older car with a decent interest rate from a dealer that had the car competitively priced. She then called credit acceptance and told them come get the Camry please and find another sucker.

I've saw a 1999 Toyota Tacoma for $9,000 at a dealership and some people just don't know it's not worth near that much. They just look at it and see that's a car and think "$9,000 is a fair deal for a good condition run and driving car" that's probably what happened in your situation. That's a big loss. Good thing that you helped out your fiance.

If the floor is wet fill the evap core drain plug surround with silicone. Water wicks through the crap foam. Keypad code in door handle is 5 digit code on side of fuse box next to brake pedal on edge
I can't believe you won that Mercury Sable LS Premium, fully loaded with all the options for only $750.00. And it runs and drives and doesn't seem to have anything wrong with it. I don't care what other people say, but that was an amazing win right there. These cars I've seen for sale having 200k plus miles on them and they still run and drive for the most part. Weak point in those cars are the transmissions. I had a 2000 Mercury Sable, same bodystyle as the one you bought, leased it, sticker price was $21,710 back in 2000. I didn't have the rear spoiler, or the chrome rims or the mach audio system. But for the size and weight of the car, with the 3.0 liter duratec v6 engine with dual overhead cam and 24 valves producing 200hp, the car had some get up and go, it was very easy to chirp the front tires in this car. I wish you the best of luck with it, it should definitely be an easy sale, and you should make a decent profit.
@@emeyer6963 Totally agree, luckily with mine I leased it brand new, and only had it for 36 months, and brought it back to the dealer with only 26,000 miles on it. So everything on the car was still like new and still in perfect working order. But my starter was going on it due to the main reason for the 26k miles and the starter going is because I used it for 8 months straight delivering pizzas. Putting about 120 miles on it per day.

As long as you don't run them out of oil or coolant, those Duratec engines are pretty free from catastrophic issues. Coil pack failures are pretty common as they get some miles on them.
Hey Randy, in case the skeaking is not because of the belt, it may be the camshaft synchronizer. My moms taurus had the same noise , it just needed some grease on it and went away. Is common to happen to those engines
Those two cars are great flip cars to have! It's worth it to look up a vehicles history report because some cars can be in a flood or a bad wreck. When you flip a car, do the least amount of work to a car and look up parts prices accordingly.
Aw man what a bummer. The first thing I noticed when you were doing the walk around prior to jumping it was that the rear wheels are closer to the front of the rear wheel wells.
I used your link a few months ago to check out a 01 Dodge Durango. That my brother in law just gave me. Come to find out it was a one owner regularly maintenance at the same place it was bought new he bought it from the original owner grandkid
the thing that worries me the most is the balck oil, that is always a sign of poor maintenance. Maybe that might explain the rod knock at the beginning. Anothr tip, never take the car to highway until you changed the oil on it, unless you have proof that the oild was changed recently

My grandmother had a 2003 tarus with the same engine and if it sat for more then a week or 2 with out being started when you would go to start it, it knocked really bad then quit I guess it’s just a ford thing idk
If it's a salvage title it loses 30% value. When you bid keep in mind costs if repair, possible shipping, and the fees that go along with purchasing it. Let's say a car us worth 10k, after salvage it's worth 7k. Plus you'll need to spend let's say 2k fixing it. Now you would think cool 5k is a good price, but you still need to look at auction fees, plus getting it rebranded to a rebuilt title. Those fees at that range could go as high as $1,500. At the $10k price range depending on the car and if I was intending on keeping ir not I'd go anywhere between 3,500 and 4k
I drive BMW myself, but this is a decent basic car. Just tune the engine a little, go for some decent shocks and springs, maybe some new pulyurethane control arm bushings..?. A little track beater for lols

If you’re wondering why it was “Enchanced” because a “BIO” company cleaned the car “BIO” they don’t clean the car they remove and cut pieces out of the cars, see the door panel it was most likely removed by the “BIO” company because of blood saturation. I work at an auction I’ve seen “BIO” this is nothing compared to the bone and brain matter I’ve seen.
If I am not wrong I think the previous owner of this car committed suicide in it. If anyone is asking how I know this, i read an article a few months ago and it had the same car in it. So that's why there might be blood in it.

Looks like my old Taurus. They're good cars, but was very difficult to trade/sell, at least in my area.
They're great cars but yeah selling or trading one is near impossible regardless of how nice or reliable they are
The engine was without oil from the top half so it released a sound and after a few seconds that sound disappeared
Probably a cheapie oil filter with no drain back valve.

Need to check the trans. The AX4 series of transmission only lasts about 120,000 miles on the factory build.
