Congrats on the flight and great build and video 👍. I just built a RTH model with the stock flight controller and ESCs and servos. I had a good maiden line-of-sight, but unsuccessful auto-launch on flight two (inav 7.0). May have been user error. It’s interesting what has been said in the comments about the stock electronics causing troubles. This is my first plane with a flight controller, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. Hopefully I can get it worked out.
i am about to dive into the inav , i have always used vector but times change so i need to give this ago , your vids and explanations certainly help. i picked up a speedy bee 405 wing fc , just got to decided which plane to fit it to for testing .👍👍
Andrew, I like that this board support two cameras, unlike the Matek F405 Wing V2. Will this board work with larger planes, or is it suited only to smaller planes like what you're flying?
Struggled with boot loader for a couple of hours on this board, after a couple of hours, I grabbed my brand new spare, and had no problems. FC was bricked from the factory. I did not solder, so hopefully they will stand by their product. This is where I get to find out if this was worth the lower price. Im sure they will.
The Penguin is flying very smooth with the SpeedyBee F405 INAV setup. Regarding "User Modes" for video switching (7:35): I believe it's only an option if an analog camera setup is configured. Not available with digital video configurations. (Selecting 'MSP DisplayPort' in "Ports" tab likely disabled. This also determines what is display as for setting options on the "OSD" tab) Have wished that digital video systems would offer a switch option for second camera. It would be nice to have a downward view, rearward, or other alternative view. Would make for a lightweight second camera option.
User mode doesn't appear even with a reflash and pure analog FPV setup. I suspect the Mini needs different firmware to the Wing full size, but it hasn't appeared yet.
It sounds like an INAV issue (dual analog cameras, not yet supported). Something for the devs to research. Hopefully they have access to a SpeedyBee Mini-wing FC so can verify. At least timing is good for upcoming release schedule.
@@AerialWaviator Just heard back from SpeedyBee. It's not in the official INAV 7.0 yet, only in SpeedyBee's own INAV build, which has only now been added to the product page.
@Andrew great video. I just got a penguin with a SpeedyBeeF405 wing board installed. Very helpful video. BTW Where do you get the 4 pin DuPont plugs from?
Hey Andrew-nice day there! Have you ever done a range (max check) on the EXLRS? And yes--I too have noticed some of the modes disappear (sometimes) from iNAV in Ver 7.0 - but then later it suddenly appeared (after a reboot) - in my case it was WP. Is that you doing the GREAT pickin' near the end? Have a great day mate!
Hi mate... Thanks for the explanation for this FC. I have some questions, I saw using a capacitor on your flight control, is it 2 capacitors or only 1 capacitor? Can you give some instructions for soldering? Thanks for your advice, now I'm building this project.
Capacitors are optional, but mostly beneficial to reduce noise in analog FPV. I soldered mine to the ESC pads when I was using it on a single motor model, then changed to the battery pads with this twin motor Penguin. Negative to negative and positive to positive.
Hi Andrew, about changing the esc protocol from standard to DShot 600 or something? Just tested mine with 712 and standard as esc protocol, works great. But i did see few reviewers showing it gets shipped with DSHOT 600 enabled
