SpeedyBee are the heroes of the FC world in my opinion. The F405 is enough flight controller for pretty much everyone, the fact you can run INAV and Ardupilot on it makes it an outstanding choice for those of us who really like to tinker, but their super clear markings and excellent instructions/diagrams also make it a great option for those who are new to the hobby and are possibly using flight controllers for the first time. I remember when the price of FCs rocketed, thank goodness for SpeedyBee manufacturing these for excellent value for money.
Ian. If you have their ear. Can you inform them for the next version. We'd prefer a HD vtx power switch. In place of, or as well as the analogue dual camera switch.
Even though I like the whole idea I am always scared about the impact of miniaturisation and the higher temperatures that come along with that. I will wait this time this season for sure to avoid any risks and we still have a lot of the f405 wing fc from last september when we purchased the fc for the 2024 holiday camp . It is also easier to use for boys that start and have no soldering experience. And i like the way speedy bee is doing its packaging and content, also the documentation with a colourfull leaflet and also the coloured pin headers which do help with the orientation as shown in 4:33 It feels to me like they are taking care for the tiny details and show their passion on the hunt for the perfect product. They seem to constantly evolve things and have even surpassed the mostly favored matek FC for wings. Maybe a bit oldschool but I also buy these coloured headers for Raspberry Pi and all the other microcontrollers.
I agree, the colour coded headers are great even for seasoned FPVers like myself, visual cues are great especially if you find yourself having to plug your servos in at the field when putting the plane together for a flight.
Really wish they'd do an H7 controller. I understand that this is cheap, but F4 feels outdated and struggles to support some of the cooler ArduPilot features (VTOL-quicktune, autonomous aerobatics, etc.)
Great overview as usual. Another great value from Speedybee. I think you mixed up the camera switching capability at 10:18 ? Was that just to make sure we were paying attention? :)
I have been looking for something F405 based that was closer to the cost and size of Matek F411-WTE since iNav is going to be phasing the F411 out. This will be perfect for testing DIY planes since crashes are likely.
Hello! I'm not very good at this (I study them and do them as a hobby). F405 WING MINI I want to mount it on a fishing bait boat and I need more advice ; 1. Can it be used as an autopilot (the boat can go by itself to several saved places on the water and then return by itself to the home point)? 2. Does it work with Flysky FS-i6 FS I6 2.4G 6ch RC Transmitter Controller FS-iA6 / FS-iA6B Receiver?
I just ordered the F405Wing Mini, for its compact size. I've got initialy a F405 Wing, but it is difficult to find room for it in the Helix 3D printed model that i am building now. Speaking of the F405 Wing, i am not able to obtain live command from the Tx, although perfectly bind with the Rx. The FC is setup with Inav 7, all Edge Tx and ELRS firmwares updated to the lasts releases. Rx set CRSF, Uart 2 set to serial, etc... I supect a hardware problem, but how to test and find a potential failure?
when you say fully compatible with speedy bee app does this mean you can update the firmware using the app , I purchased the bigger speedybee F405 wing fc on the understanding i could update through the app , but sadly that was not the case.
@@MadRC ahh so this is a limitation for this fc . But a lot of other speedybee fc can be updated using the app . Just got to dig deep before purchasing which one’s can and which ones can’t
I have the speedybee f405 mini wing. Which i got for putting on my 1/10 crawler to arm my dji 03 air unit. And control it using my Radiomaster MT12. I know theres uart 5 to plug in the 03 vtx, its just setting up the flight controller to arm and run 1 esc and 1 servo. And then setting up the MT12 to get it all workin so i can see using goggles 2. (Already know the goggles part) its the settin up of flight controller in inav 6 thats baffling me.
We do not fly every flight controller, it’s close to pointless. As I said it more an overview. The days of gyro issues on some are largely over and flying one F4 vs another F4 will tell you nothing. There are rare occasions where you can get a bad one but that’s pretty much a thing of the past now. All flying it will do it tell you it actually works. What it is you expect to find out from a flight test ?
Don't buy this FC it's crap, I had rx uart problems, servo outputs went bad after five minutes on the bench while testing servos. I moved the servo output to S6 from S4 and got the servo working again but then the motor output on S2 went bad. Believe me, I pulled the servos and ESC all working fine with a servo tester. I even swapped the ESCs on the header pins S1 & S2 the problem just moved from not running the right motor to the left motor. Total Garbage!

i agree i love mine so much i bought a back up just incase , and i might even buy this for a glider i have in mind
Seriously. Every time they release a new product Matek is losing fixed wing market share.

hey, at 10:16 u mixed up the camera switching, "Mini" one got it, old one does not ("Mini" got CAM1 and CAM2 Inputs)

What is the purpose of the included capacitor? Is it strictly necessary?
Great video, very informative! Thanks! ❤
Could not buy the ZOHD KOPILOT Lite to use with a Zohd Drift. This Mini fits nicely. Incredible!😁

Ordered one, I like the small form factor.....😳😏🇬🇧
Fantastic review, Ian! 😃
SpeedyBee is killing it!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

The speedybee app does not allow updates for Unav. That does not make it not fully compatible. There is limitations of the speedybee app.

SpeedyBee should give us also cheap h7 ardupilot compatible boards for quad or hex drones
It is under development.

All reviewers have done this break down with no flying yet. pretty incomplete in my mind
It's very hard for Ian to fly in Wales...

That sucks I just ordered the older version yesterday
Older doesn't make it worse, the bigger FC has more features. This is just lighter and costs $4 less.
@@nuddin99 but the lay out and size of the smaller one would work better for my new build
Ditch the analog osd chip and give us a proper digital vtx power rail, then i will buy one. Not as it is now.
no. I use analog
