I just jumped on eBay and ordered my kit. This is exactly what I've been looking for, a tiny, reasonably priced QRP transceiver kit where pretty much everything has been done fundamentally RIGHT. No shortcuts that turn it into questionable junk. And there's still room for advances and improvement! I'm going to have a box printed up and antenna stuff ready for it when it arrives. Then I get to spend my time building something I can be proud of. Thank you.
1. I can hardly wait to get my hands on one & get it on the air. 2. You don't use a board vice, something that I find absolutely necessary since my hands started shaking. 3. Glad that you're satisfied with the manufacture & kit prep. VIele Dank für das Video und Links! 73 de W8IJN
Are their CAD files for the enclosure? I have a CNC but no 3d printer. I thought if I end up getting one of these I could machine the case out of phenolic and aluminum. 73
I had to watch into the video again in order to remember: I did not check conductivity of the mod before soldering it in, soldered it in and realized it did not work. While unsoldering it again, ripped off a pad.... 73 Manuel; DL2MAN
If you build it in another enclosure, you can use bigger SSD1306 OLED DIsplays. But this will not longer fit on the PCB and interferes with the Buttons.
I see you test the power with the tinySA, can you connect the (tr)usdx straight to the tinySA for testing with the small sma cable with the ~5W output?
No and No ! I´m testing Power externally off camera with oscilloscope (Vpp over 50 Ohms Dummy Load) and you always need to insert at Least 50dB Attenuator between rig and TinySA, that can handle minimum 5 Watts. tinysa.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.Transmitters Better use 60dB and Attenuators rated for 10-20W
Perhaps they could consider an ESD safe metallised bag instead of the zip lock sandwich bag style for the preassembled PCB. The additional cost would be extremely small.
Hi. you say in the video that you have damaged the OLED. Was it some soldering error (remake). Or some other mishap? I am asking, because I will probably order from the link provided by you, and I do not want to make a mistake with the conversion. 73 SP9DLK
Thanks for your attention to detail ! When I did the OLED Modification, I used a "wire stripper" for the insulated wire they provided along with the kit. This tool broke the internal copper, so there was no contact. I didn´t check that and soldered OLED in anyway.... The Problem started, when I needed to unsolder the OLED for investigation, and ripped of the soldering pads. Then I needed to re-do the pads before I could make all work again. You can see the extra wire on the OLED, when you watch closely ;) 73 Manuel; DL2MAN

Mircea is abt right: 40dB Tap on the Big Dummy Load to dissapate most of the RF + a switchable Attenuator to reduce it further down to save level for the Tiny SA (around another 30-40dB) so 70-80dB in Total
Question. The eBay listing (now not available) states this "Right now it covers 80 /60/40/30/20m and in Future there will be support for 17/15/12/10m as well." Is that as planned ?
You can select it with the menu on the rig I just got, but not sure if you would still need to change the RF board, or if they made it possible only with software?
So it didn’t have the relays with it and the speaker is the wrong size. Did I hear that right? Also on eBay it doesn’t include an enclosure. I did see one on Etsy for $25. Will the upgrades for higher MHz bands be for this rig?
The relays were sent after the main kit (relays will be included in the kit as well as the right speaker according to my suggestion). The high band mod will be compatible with this kit/rig, yes. But no release date yet.
I just looked on etsy, and it IS the housing for the (tr)uSDX printed from the files I released. But I don´t know anything about the used material or if it fits right.
@@dl2man Wow! Honored to get a response from you. The more I look at this tiny rig, and it’s tiny price, I may just have to get it sooner rather than later. 73’s de n5vwn
This is very good news, I’m going to order it soon. One question: the future implementation of the other 4 higher bands how is supposed to be done? New modules will be available and they will replace some of the existing 5, e.g. I desolder the 60 m and solder the 15 m? Thank you.
Basically it´s just alternative Filter Values on the same PCB´s along with software changes. The easiest thing would be: Buy anotehr RF board with the new Values on it. But we´re not there yet.... First need to find some time and motivation to develop it.
You talked in your vid that you are able to assembly this rig in small quantities for 40-50USD and all over 140USD is ripped off deal. Chinese sellers recommended by you are selling it for 150USD...!? uhhh

From another video i see 30db and another 40db. Maybe DL2MAN can confirm that
