Please make an argument for an assembled unit with no case as a future option. Not all that jazzed with their printing from all that I've seen.

I think there is an option. From the main page:
"The design was intended as an easy to build (pre-assembled) Kit, that can be sourced (in a group buy situation) for abt. 50,-€. 3D Printed Housing not included in this price."

I was a QRPp guy in 1979 when I was age 17 so now in my senior years, I am so excited to see so much gear, support, and camaraderie! As I get back into this I am thankful for so many folks out there living the life and documenting it for those of us no longer working our test engineer careers, LOL. 73, Dave, KU9L

Most excellent idea Kevin! And you're right, yours is a unique approach.

I knew they'd arranged approved kit suppliers but didn't know til now they had approved builders. I love the idea! Benefits everyone. Kudos to Manuel and Guido. Hope we see more of this in the kit space. Of course Hans already offers this in-house with the QCX.

I have one myself (also blue). I have already confirmed it does receive and transmit on 20m and 40m. I would be very interested in that Anderson Power Pole approach because that power cable is awfully delicate.

Thanks for the series Kevin, looking forward to it. Mine is still sitting in a box waiting for me to get to it. I'm sure watching you will give me some motivation to put it at the front of the project list.

I like the idea of shorter and more frequent videos. Sometimes it's hard to get time to watch the longer ones. And the build quality video is helpful. Maybe you can test how clean the signal is. Does it produce harmonics? How does it perform? Can you use it on digital modes?

Nice video Kevin. BTW Elecraft had an approved list of builders for at least their K2 transceivers, maybe others also.

Oh! that's an interesting peace of kit!.
I guess you will have an opinion on the speaker function and how to improve that... may be remove it altogether, replace it with a Bluetooth interface... or modify the case, or, or, or. What do you think?
    Have fun with the kit!

I'd be interested in seeing an adapter for a speaker/microphone added to the radio. The only one I've seen had an onboard mic which was terrible.

If you haven’t been on the support forum you should check it out. There is a mod to improve the oled screen brightness. I couldn’t see my screen in bright light, in my opinion this is a must do mod. Cheers

There's already a few on doing the digital modes with it. Manuel, one of the designers, has a video on setting it up with WSJTx, you can find it right on the page for the radio. (Linked in the description.)

Great video Kevin. Ill give you a little clue, all of the approved builders are the same person, Sunny Yang and Hison, so the build quality is the same no matter which one you buy from. I found the build quality to be vey good By the way.

    • @loughkb
      @loughkb  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yep, I've discovered that myself, one source. They botched mine, bad solder job. The next vid will detail my findings. Manuel and Hison were informed. I'm sure they're having some interesting conversations now.

Maybe the builder just made a mistake? Or is it BAD BAD? You reviewed a NanoVNA that had issues. I've had mine for over 2 years and it's just great. Have learned so much from it! Monday morning/Friday full stop build maybe? Maybe he subbed it out for construction? We have to get good at this making stuff! The world is gonna change I feel. We asked for crap cheap stuff from China and that's what they make for us. We got to set our sights higher for what we need!

What did Kevin say of a negative nature about the truSDX? Maybe you have the wrong video.

Yep, that's it. One nice thing about that show, M.A.S.H., was that they paid attention to details. And for some reason, I still remember that Turkish soldier episode.
