    My tr(u)sdx will probably be in the mailbox within the hour of me typing this. I was working on a portable paddle design, but the one you showed is just about perfect.
    I guess I'll just have to make a small USB rig interface custom for the radio instead. 🙂
    Clever EFHW too. I like building it around the connector like that.

      I think that particular one was the anemone. As shown, it's perfect for this neat kit, and of course it's discontinued like all the good stuff. They make one similar called the pup that's very similar, but has Velcro instead of the buckle. There's plenty of similar models by other manufacturers. Blue falcon makes one really close.

    Could you give some more details about the antenna setup?

    • @thekhakihat3233
      @thekhakihat3233  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The antenna is an end fed half wave. No coax. The matching unit attaches directly to the radio. I just spread the wire out on the ground first, then tied one end to a branch. Then I draped the wire over some low branches back to the radio. It was certainly nvis.

    • @thekhakihat3233
      @thekhakihat3233  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Stephane. At the time of recording this video my impression was that the antenna was fairly reliable so I didn’t always checked swr before transmitting. I have had a few problems with it lately, so I do check it routinely now. I usually get swr less than 1.5:1 depending on how I set up the antenna. Usually just varying the height of the matching unit above the ground has a significant effect on swr.

      The battery holder shown here is a 4 x 14500 cell stuck to the end of the trusdx with double sided foam mounting tape. It covers up the PA and USB ports, which I never use. It provides about 16v to the radio which makes some people uncomfortable. Now I mostly use 3 x 18650 cell holders secured to the back of the radio with heavy duty Velcro. I detach the battery to pack up the radio.
