If a protected person is deemed incapable of understanding the ramifications of breaking the rules and, as a child, is too vulnerable to be appropriately penalised for it then surely the rules themselves have just admitted that protected persons are too young and vulnerable to compete in adult sports? Not allowing athletes to compete as seniors until they are actually seniors in terms of age seems to me to be the easiest and safest way to prevent a mess like this happening again, both for the protection of future athletes and for the integrity of the sport. Adults should not be allowed to drag children into situations they cannot cope with merely for a few medals and a pay check.

This whole scandal has left a sick feeling in my stomach. I was so ready to root for Kamila but now I don't know if I even want to watch it anymore. The more information I find out about what's going on, the more angry I become. First, I'm very sympathetic towards Kamila and part of me wants her to win but not under these circumstances. I think she is a great skater and possibly the best but how much of it was due to doping. RUSADA did not label the urine sample that they sent to the lab as high priority which tells me they knew something to further delay the results. The doctor that Eteri has on staff is Chvetsky who is a known doping physician who has caused several athletes in the past to be banned due to doping. Making exceptions to rules and regulations because she's a minor is asinine and further destroys all integrity of the Olympics. Maybe now the ISU can raise the age of ladies figure skating to 18 so there's no more exception and that neverending conveyer belt of young girls in Russia aren't abused otherwise this will continue indefinitely. How many other girls in Russia could not compete because against Eteri's camp because they didn't dope or had elevated scores by corrupt judges? I watched the Russian championships and saw a lot of great skaters that would be #1 in the US or Canada but could only make the top 10 because of the corruption.

This doping incident didn't just apply to figure skating but to other winter sporting as well. Russia wants their athletes to perform bigger and better regardless of their ever practicing. And in America, marijuana cannot be listed as 'medicinal' without knowing even further about this substance. The same is with ivermectin being used to treat 'COVID-19" without understanding the risk of it posing to humans when it was previously made to treat parasites in horses. Now, I am sure there has been some doping incident on American soil without us even knowing anything about it. But we can't always be in complete control of whatever happens to Kamila Valieva because she's been through so much, since the glaring reminder of the incident in Sochi 2014 starts to rear its ugly head. If she wins, she wins. `If she loses, she lose. Nobody is going to go home crying because of what happened to Kamila. It's only going to be what happens to Russia.

If she hadn’t gotten caught she would have walked away with her gold medal and slept easy knowing she cheated. She absolutely knew and partook in this doping. • @diomedecassar2244
      @diomedecassar2244 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Those who broke their own rules are actually the World Anti Doping Agency. Kamila Valieva was cleared to participate at the Beijing Olympics because the positive result for a trace of a heart medication from her sample submitted to WADA's ITA laboratory in Sweden on the 25th of December 2021 was communicated only on the 8th of February 2022 conveniently timed to coincide with the Gold Medal Award Ceremony for the Russian team for maximum media exposure. That is 45 days later and a whopping 25 days later than the 20 day deadline set by the same WADA regulations for the test result to be received and communicated. The positive test result had therefore to be discarded since in those 45 days it could have easily been tempered with and contaminated to show a positive test result. So, for all intents and purposes, Kamila Valieva is totally clean from banned substances since all of her previous and later doping test results including at the Beijing Olympics retuned a NEGATIVE test result from the same ITA Swedish Testing Laboratory. What's more suspicious is the fact that the same WADA Swedish Testing Laboratory handed a NEGATIVE test result of Kamila Valieva's January 2022 sample which qualified the athlete to participate at the Beijing Olympics, weeks before the Positive test result of December 25th 2021! This clearly points to a frame-up and a thorough investigation into this issue should be carried out and if any WADA officials are found to be trying to destroy a 15 year old girl psychologically by tarnishing her reputation to tarnish the reputation of her country for political purposes they must to be held criminally accountable.

I wanted to watch the video after I was caught up and was devastated to see it got taken down.
Been bugging all my friends with figure skating and need an outlet, so excuse the long comment.
WHAT A RIDE. I thought I was prepared. But BOY was I wrong.
Karen frickin carried Team USA. She frickin carried. You can @ me on this. She pulled through. (I am biased because I think she's pretty and I'm a sucker for her spins and spirals)
And what a tragedy! Vincent Zhou. His "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" Program was so good. He was in such good shape. My heart broke for him.
And the SUSPENSE in the men's free? Can we talk about how good the Japanese men were? Yes, Yuzuru didn't medal, I cried. The others are deserving though, so I have no reason to be mad about it. He is still the figure skater of the century. Someone like him is eternal. Like Yuna Kim and Tessa and Scott.
Ice Dance went as expected, I was pretty surprised that their Daft Punk Free Dance got such high scores from the judges, it was so...out there. (Also, s/o to the nepo-babies from ROC)
The Ladies tomorrow have me hanging by the edge of my seat. I'm pretty sure Trusova is either going to pull through or literally break her legs trying. This woman is DETERMINED. The scandal around Valieva was...nerve-wrecking and I share your opinion.
I'm not American so the commentary in my country is different from yours and boy, some of the opinions of the male commentator are ~spicy~. Most of the time I agree with his opinion (he clearly recognises talent and gives credit where credit is due) but especially his opinion about the Japanese ladies was...idk. There's nothing specific he said it's just a weird vibe I'm picking up. He was a huge fan of the Japanese men and Nathan Chen so I don't think it's a racism issue. Maybe their skating is just not his taste, idk. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. I am stressed tf out, can you tell?!
And I've noticed a HUGE difference in attitude when it comes to advancements in sports compared to other disciplines. For example in Snowboard Half-Pipe, the jumps and tricks have evolved IMMENSELY over the last 4 years. A reason why Shaun White didn't medal this time. But instead of complaining about it and talking about restricting new tricks or techniques (like...no quads in the short for ladies) they were celebrating the new styles and evolution of the sport. And some of the athletes were 16-18 as well. And no one was bashing a 16 year old who fairly qualified for the Olympics for "robbing" someone just because they could do things others couldn't. 😬❤

For information about the case, I suggest reading from official sources, not just reading from US media outlets, who are clearly biased against Russia.

So here's what I think about it: there are only two scenarios in which the substance was consumed by Kamila. 1) Her team doctor, who has a relevant doping past, administered the substance to her without her knowledge. 2) She knew what she was taking to enhance her performance. My opinion: Yes, she is a minor. But teenagers are not stupid. They are not little puppets being led around like marionettes. They are highly impressionable, but they also have minds of their own. I think that in Russia it is an open secret among athletes what happened in Sotchi and other competitions. Of course, you have to deny everything to the outside world. Meanwhile, I think that Kamila is definitely partly to blame. The Oympic Games should then open only to eighteen-year-olds, because apparently it is possible to escape responsibility if you are too young. This allows such a questionable doctor to do anything, or a trainer to recommend anything. In my country, there are many Russian patriots who see this as fraud again. So to all patriots: ROC has won medals in other competitions instead of figure skating and is allowed to keep them without any problems. I think lately especially about Tscherbakova and Trusova and feel sorry for them.

We’ve all watched interviews of Eteri turning on skaters when they were on their way out (Alina) or if they left (Evengia) or just because why not say mean things about them publicly (Alena, Yulia). I think Publicly Eteri will try to make Kamila out as something she isn’t, and then if/when Kamila moves teams and has a wobble or loses a jump (due to team moving or puberty) Eteri and the whole world will say it’s because she can’t dope anymore

This doping story is a fiction, an excuse to deprive Kamila and the whole team of the medals. Just corrupt business and politics. The most disgusting thing is that the athletes themselves suffer the most, who are not to blame for all this. Valieva was subjected to enormous pressure at the Olympics, and the next two years became hell for the teenager. A disgrace to the entire Olympic Committee. Valieva *was clean* during the Olympics. They found doping in December 2021 and *concealed it*. The IOC shouldn't allowed the sportsman to participate in the Olympic, they should forbid her to arrive to Beijing. But *they hid it* and blame Valieva *only when* the Olympic began. Obviously it was a setup.
Those who say that a 4-year disqualification is no big deal simply do not understand how short the life of professional athletes is. And it’s not only about the deprivation of medals from the Russian team and all Kamila’s medals since December 2021, but also about the fact that *Valieva can’t even train now, she can’t even perform in shows* sponsored by the Figure Skating Federation. She is thrown out for 4 years not only from the sport, but from skating in general. Can you imagine football without Messi, Pike, Alves? So there is no figure skating without her. One of the most talented figure skaters in the world was destroyed with this corrupt decision. And how, in this context, can Americans rejoice at the fact that they were given gold? You cannot build your happiness on the tears and grief of the child.
Yes, there are no weak athletes at the Olympics. But let's admit that in women's single figure skating, Russian skaters are on a completely different level. And Russians love this sport, the Russian Championship is held in crowded stands, and the level of skating there is like at the World Championships. And even among them all, Kamila Valieva is the rarest talent, artistry, technique and complexity.

You willfully skip so many freaking aspects (that other samples were taken after this sample and did not contain anything, relevance of the sample is more than a month, the dose is negligible, and this drug cannot affect the results qualitatively at all, because it is for people with cardiovascular diseases and can’t give you any advantages) You are just jealous and happy of finally finding a reason to justify other’s teams weaknesses
    So mean

Why would a 15 year old who competes at a senior level require a medication that is not even recommended for those under 18? And don't start with the grandfather's medication crap because no one is falling for it. TMZ is banned for a reason. No one is jealous of a child who is being used as a political pawn.

That's just not true. The drug enhances endurance in the athlete, by oxygenating the blood. It makes them train harder for longer (or get to the end of a programme without getting tired like others).
Trace or large amounts found is irrelevant anyway. Elite athletes have to test clean all year round. Every year.
You can't even take flu medications and certain cough bottles btw (as an example). I know because I competed at senior level, and operated under those rules. That was a long time ago now, but every athlete knows to be seriously careful in what they take, whether then or now.
Their team doctor is the same one that did all the doping at Sochi that got Russia banned from competing at the Olympics.

It is hard to imagine how the team Tutberidze face after this Olympics
Also, it is sad for the athlete to train without doping

The Russians play by intimation and this is a true example. If that 15 year old has any integrity, because we know her coaches don't, she will withdraw. This is outrageous and unfair to all!!! Doping is doping!!! Can't and won't watch her again!!! Bullying on a global scale!!!

As of right now, I can't even!!!!! She's going to be skating and Russia are still getting medals which I believe shouldn't be allowed. Because it was the team that did this. I hope this changes after this. Anything I see online is kamilas face. Not surprised if she falters I'm rooting for the other two very much as well. Love scherbs and Sasha! Love Kmaila but so sad. She's always clutching her chest after performance and I wonder how much of that is related to this banned heart medication... I can see pain in her face.

A 15 year old is a minor, therefore classed as a child (and they're just that....a child).
Watch the Margarita Mamun documentary on YT for an idea of the power imbalance between coaches and pupils in sport in Russia.
