Uggh I don't like the focus on coaches and schools. I've never seen in other sports where the coaches and schools of where the athletes trained are more famous than the athletes themselves. This is not healthy because 1) the silly competition between schools and bashing when 1 athlete leaves 1 school to other and 2) it shows that the athlete itself is less important than the school. This also drives the image of "factory model" where when 1 athlete expire and no longer competitive, there will be the next one to take the place. It's so uncomfortable to see this "model" happening in figure skating in Russia. If this continues, you won't have a Yuna, a Mao, or a Kostner because no athletes can make their name due to how short their career while the schools continue to take the glory of winning medals from their disposable athletes.

New FS fan here. This is quite helpful for sorting out all the Russian drama. Kind of curious why the institutions have greater success in producing top girl's skaters (can't refer them as ladies) than men's?
I can see why Liza B moved to Team Tutberidze. She was working on quads and she's probably hoping that they can help her get them more consistent. I hope the move will be rewarding!
Thank you sm for this video, Paola! About Aliona's transfer: I worry about her, bc if she was not doing that great with Plushenko, i dont even want to imagine what will happen to her, if she goes back to Team Tut, since she's almost reaching the "Eteri expiration date"... i just worry about her health, due to Eteri's methods....
Wow, great job! İ'm Russian, İ love figure skating, but İ don't watch Russian youtube channels (most of them are way tooooooooooooo toxic). Yours is the only one İ watch. Btw, sometimes you say you have difficulties with Russian pronunciation. If you are interested, I can leave my email address and the next time you struggle just write to me and I'll send you a recording with the right pronunciation. With Russia from love💖💖💖
so would someone only leave eteri tutberidze because she cannot handle how demanding she is? also, since her camp is state sponsored, does she get tons more resources than the other camps?
Lol at your remark regarding Russian coaches and their aversion to mask. I was also wondering why for the love of God they like to not wear mask. Even Lambiel wore mask in JapanNats, but eh that's JP lol.
Etteri - There is Nothing is impossible for her, complete change of the perception of modern figure skating, she and her team can create unique lead programs in any level. Her students has the brightest victories and the world records. both the " first woman to jump ..." and the " most scoring".. All this achievement is from Etteri Tutberidze Russia Honored Trainer. her and the team of coaches. She has real talent, unlimited patience, titanic work invested in her students from very early age, incredible strength and unrivaled mastery. All of these bring the most unforgettable skating programs that were ever seen. Plushenko has the money to buy people from his wife.
Note Sambo doesn't mean wrestling in Russian. Wrestling is "Bor'ba". Sambo is a type of a martial art developed in the USSR that includes elements of wrestling (and judo and striking). For example Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev are sambo masters.
I wish someone to make documentary film about russian skating camps. And by someone I mean Polish director Marta Prus who made an amazing documentary "Over the Limit" about gymnast Margerita Mamun.
@@skateata1 as the film was shown in multiple times at movie festivals around the world, there probably are english subtitles. I would check streaming services.
Love being Russian and learning about Russian figure skating through your videos :D Very informative and entertaining! You have a talent for storytelling 4:52 it's Rudkovskaya tho (O stressed: RudkOvskaya)

I still wonder what happened to Sotnikova? Did she retire after 2014 Olympics? I think she had a lot of energy in her skating and such a positive energy. (Not commenting on the gold controversy!!! Please no death threats!)
Lmaoo 🤣. She pretty much dropped off the face of the earth. Competed a handful of times but never had any follow up success. Dropped completely out of competition in 2014/15 season and 2016 onward. Officially retired in 2020. I don't think she even got any of the big sponsorships or anything like Alina did. One hit wonder basically....
Hear that pop? That's sound of this channel having a collective aneurysm when they heard about Kostornaia going back to -the best coach in the world- Eteri
She IS a best coatch in the world. Thus is exactly a reason to exist for do many haters as you. Eteri has orooved zhat not only a talant natters. With right system almost any can come to the championship. And Aljona and Sasha, and Yulija as well gas proived it - change if coach brings them nothing. The specual system of Eteri is wgat was supporting their talant.
@@samaraknappi1154 Totally agree, she is absolutely the best coach in the world The strikeout was a sarcastic dig at this Russohobic Eteri-hating channel
Quick question for clarification-I was under the impression that the Snow Leopards was the name of Svetlana Panova's group, and not the CSKA one? I could be mixing things up here though. 😂
I hope I’m wrong because I don’t know where else she’d go right now, but I just have a funny feeling Kostornaia will not be taken back in by Tutberidze. Again, I could be very wrong bc I know Aliona’s uncle is the President of the Sambo-70, but it would just serve to create that much more drama and intrigue and cement Tutberidze’s control over the scene that much more if they do not accept her back in- I think if Aliona had her triple axel back and was on an upward trajectory that might change things, but she just has not had anything good going for her (jumps-wise) lately. And that is NOT a personal dig at Aliona- I know she’s been sick and injured but the timing is just terrible.
Very good video Paola. If you can keep up with more rational and informative work like this, you will win me over. This is the kind of posting that adds value to the community. Glad you have restrained the usual over the top vitriolic sniping directed at Queen Tut. This one was balanced and informative, and aligns well with my knowledge base, not that you should even care about that. Good work. Personal observation on the soap opera drama development: headstrong skaters like Sasha and Alena can get full of themselves and set on a course of overachievement. Sasha has always tried to pack too much into her programs without balance. Alena had gotten too big for her britches demanding too much attention and special consideration at Team Tut. Everyone knows that is a no go with Eteri. Sasha left, for reasons that included Alena’s demand for attention and Anna’s deserved favorite child status (longest with the team and still the shiniest penny in the purse). When Alena didn’t get her way and followed Sasha to Plush, their conflict continued. Team Plush is a mess because Evgeni is ill equipped to deal with the squabbles he had on his hands. He was a squabbler himself for his whole competitive career, e.g. with Yagudin while they both trained under Mishin, forcing Alexei to move out for his own sanity. And to everyone else whining about Eteri’s ‘damaging training methods.’ Get real. Her #1 priority does happen to be development of potential. That’s why the club attracts the talent that it does. Longevity is secondary, but still a factor. It’s a high impact sport where the participants perform on rock hard ice, their center of gravity 3” above normal, with knives on their boots. It’s not a pillow fight - skaters are going to suffer micro injuries to bone and soft tissue every time they compete or train on ice. As long as it’s managed well, they get stronger and more skilled. Often damage gets detected later than would be best. It’s the nature of the sport. It’s just a dangerous one. But these kids are going to skate no matter what, risking injury in an arena or going through the ice on a lake - it’s in their blood to fly on ice. There will be injuries, no matter what. All coaches utilize training harnesses and dry land strength and coordination training to mitigate the forces and stresses the body must absorb and deal with. The overachievers are more at risk. They happen to flock to Eteri’s camp, and have for a while. Connect the dots. The athletes in Club Tut aren’t anorexic. That is a condition - a psychological induced metabolic disease. Victims of anorexia can’t do the things these young ladies do, so please stop playing that tune. Some adolescents just are thin. Anna, case in point, is beginning to fill out just now. Kamila is a beast, stronger than Sasha even though she is two years younger. Let the girls skate. Stop trying to make them over into what you want for them. It’s boring and tiresome. Enjoy their gifts.
this question always feel like a trap... my fave programs of theirs are alina's Me Voy and zhenya's libertango. But if i could spend a day with one of them like zhenya. but that is just my opinion like they are both amazing athletes
Does anyone know what's going on for the Russian male figure skaters? They are not in top 5 anymore in World and Olympian championships, like they used to be. Are there different training methods for the male skaters then there used to be? Or is figure skating not so popular anymore among Russian boys while it is still popular among girls?
At this point International Female Figure Skating is a competition amongst the camp instead of thew world.😂 I would've love it if someone from another country beat a Russian skater.
My question to you is.....How did Eteri acquire such a power hold on the ISU or the Russian Federation? Cheating or fixing outcomes in the long run do not work; but I can see how that strategy can recruit alot of kids based on a false sense of success in the long haul.
Trusova is my favorite, so no mater who she skates for i will always like Trusova, although i also like most of these Russian skaters, most of them are very impressive.
I had watched the video based on the rumour of Alena Kostornaia (not this video), and it seems to be true, it's just that no one has actually heard anything about Eteri Tutberidze's opinion and thought about it, but yeah after all they are just rumours. To be honest I am not to surprised, Alena (no offence) ( if it is even true) wants to move back to team Tutberidze, because she did not actually skate as well as she usually would, and she did not seem so happy about her programmes, so yes I think the rumours are true, I am just not so sure.🙂💜😉
Well I mean she had injuries (which was caused by the training method from tutberidze) and then she got COVID, so I don’t think she can blame her “not so good” performance on plushenko.
I like the second coach you talk about. I can't remember his name but the 1st lady seems EVIL based on your other vids and the 3rd guy and his wife are just sketchy lol.
2nd is professor Alexei Mishin, former pair skater. Skated with Tamara Moskvina, who is also a coach now, but focused on pairs. They are 68/69 European Champs and 68/69 Worlds silver medalists 3rd is Evgeni Plushenko, 05/06 Olympics Champ, 13/14 Oympics Champ (team event), 2 times Olympics silver medalist, many times Worlds Champ and medalist and so on so on. In one word a legend of men's single skating, he was like Nathan Chan or Yuzuru Hanyu of its time. He decided to become a Great Coach and began by luring Tutberidze's skaters. @@elizabethfilippovich3252 she has a stress fracture, and back pain. The reason why people say it’s caused by Eteri is cause of the coaching methods Eteri uses. It’s for girls younger, with less body weight and haven’t fully hit puberty yet. When these girls start getting older the Eteri methods start to catch up with them and their body starts to basically “fail” this seems to happen to Eteri’s girls around the time they turn 17.

Kamila valieva drama this year and the drama with coach eteri SHOVING TRUSOVA in the van at the arena cause she didn’t wanna leave with them 😩 my heart aches for Anna sitting ALONE with NOBODY to hug or congratulate her after she won gold - would LOVE TO KNOW UR OPINION ON IT ALL - LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEE your Chanel - definitely subbed ❤️
I enjoy your videos so much, it's scaring me 😂
Never stop :)
im obsessed w these videos omg
I almost left a comment on one of your videos yesterday requesting a video like this one 😅 Thanks !
New FS fan here. This is quite helpful for sorting out all the Russian drama.
Kind of curious why the institutions have greater success in producing top girl's skaters (can't refer them as ladies) than men's?
More thank you for the Russian subtitles. From Kazakhstan. Love you.
there's russian subtitles? i didn't do those lol. so thank you to whoever did and hopefully they are correct
Amazing thank you for these videos I love figures skating and your videos are gold!
Thanks ,very informative for me .
Me, going to sleep because is 22:46 p.m. in brazil:
Paola Castillo: Wanna hear some FS drama?
Me: you know.. Who needs sleep?
Hahahahaha eu!!
Hahahahah simmm
HSUAHSUAS SIM

Brasileiras vivendo pelo drama no mundinho figure skating russo, amo.
Have you ever considered doing a guide to Team Cricket? It feels like you have such good knowledge on every single skater that is active right know!
I can see why Liza B moved to Team Tutberidze. She was working on quads and she's probably hoping that they can help her get them more consistent. I hope the move will be rewarding!
The Zhilina sisters being coached by their mother is a huge mistake :' with Alena gone I hope Rozanov takes them on again. Please!
The only person who can prove that being coached by a parent is a good idea is Yuma Kagiyama😊 Poor Veronika, she is now under way too much pressure😢
She was coached by Brian orser not her mother. Soon as he got successful she dumped him
Wow, great job!
Etteri - There is Nothing is impossible for her,
complete change of the perception of modern figure skating, she and her team can create unique lead programs in any level.
What great timing for the recent news hahahahahaha! Great vid
Can you do an updated version of this in the future?
OMG Paola, I love your channel and the way you explain things! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I believe Eteri is still the best, we can hate her but her impact is just wow
The number of injuries in her camp are suspect.
@@krisfujimoto72 Agreed!
How can Eteri be the best when the technique is questioned and her skaters are getting bad injuries and have no longevity!
She did make great figure skaters, but at what cost? They only last for one cycle (4 years).
I wish someone to make documentary film about russian skating camps. And by someone I mean Polish director Marta Prus who made an amazing documentary "Over the Limit" about gymnast Margerita Mamun.
Thanks for mentioning this! I'll try to find it because I would like to watch. Are there english subtitles?
@@skateata1 as the film was shown in multiple times at movie festivals around the world, there probably are english subtitles. I would check streaming services.
9:47 WHY WAS- MOSKIVNA DOING THAT??? KRISTI YAMAGUCHI IN THE BACKGROUND OH LAWD
Team Panova are the Snow Leopards because that's the name of their rink.
Love being Russian and learning about Russian figure skating through your videos :D
Very informative and entertaining! You have a talent for storytelling
4:52 it's Rudkovskaya tho (O stressed: RudkOvskaya)
Thank you 😊
You forgot about Evgeni Semenko from Mishin too! They are my fave team also
Semenenko
Well Anna Sherbekova did just (half an hour ago) WIN the Olympic gold medal 🥇 So go ANNA and team Plushenko👐
Great video! I’m still bitter about Sochi. Queen Yuna should’ve won gold.
yeah but it wasn’t sothikovas fault. She’s not the judge
Team Buyanova and Team Snow Leopards are actually two different camps
You are correct that CSKA (soviet army skating camp) was started in the Soviet times.
@@elye0987 most if these girls are one hit wonders to be honest. Tjey cant handle it physically and mentally
woow good material. thanks !!!! :D
I’m lowkey excited that all the old team tuberitze skaters are coming back just for the drama tho
Hear that pop?
That's sound of this channel having a collective aneurysm when they heard about Kostornaia going back to -the best coach in the world- Eteri
Lol true. these guys and this commentator are friggin nutjobs
@@samaraknappi1154 Totally agree, she is absolutely the best coach in the world
The strikeout was a sarcastic dig at this Russohobic Eteri-hating channel
Great job👏👏👏
Quick question for clarification-I was under the impression that the Snow Leopards was the name of Svetlana Panova's group, and not the CSKA one? I could be mixing things up here though. 😂
watching this after trusova left plushenko.. this is so embarrassing for him lmao 5:09
Omg... where did you get such rumours? )))) Aliona's uncle IS NOT the president of Sambo 70!
With what happened to Sasha at Beijing, I wonder if she’ll go back to Plushenko or completely switch it up with a new coach
off topic, but who would u choose: alina or evgenia ?
this question always feel like a trap... my fave programs of theirs are alina's Me Voy and zhenya's libertango. But if i could spend a day with one of them like zhenya. but that is just my opinion like they are both amazing athletes
Zhenya she’s the one who got me the figure skating
Zhenya... but I also love alina
Zhenya because her skating made me a fan🥰
Zhenya but absolutely no hate towards alina
This was great.
Does anyone know what's going on for the Russian male figure skaters? They are not in top 5 anymore in World and Olympian championships, like they used to be. Are there different training methods for the male skaters then there used to be? Or is figure skating not so popular anymore among Russian boys while it is still popular among girls?
Good job Paola!
Paola: let's get them out of the way
me: YES SOMEONE DO IT PLEASE
I think Eteri love Yuzuru’s skating and she wore the necklace
At this point International Female Figure Skating is a competition amongst the camp instead of thew world.😂 I would've love it if someone from another country beat a Russian skater.
Anyone wanna talk about how Eteri looks like Mother Gothel? (I know eteri is bad but dang she's fine)
My question to you is.....How did Eteri acquire such a power hold on the ISU or the Russian Federation? Cheating or fixing outcomes in the long run do not work; but I can see how that strategy can recruit alot of kids based on a false sense of success in the long haul.
is Trusova still with angels of plushenko?
No, she went back to Eteri
Trusova is my favorite, so no mater who she skates for i will always like Trusova, although i also like most of these Russian skaters, most of them are very impressive.
3:20 sambo doesn't mean wrestling. sambo is a martial art of its own
Hot Sergei has sufficiently went colder.
Eteri team is so badass
Teamtutberidze was not the first one.
Team-fashion started from teammozer and pair skating.
Figure skating is not only about girls
When people started calling Rozanov a Hot Sergey? Loool
Dave Lease is for blame.Heh.;)
The hot Sergei lol!!!!
Being coached by your parent CAN work out as we have seen in the case of Yuma, but the Zhilinas sisters ain't it.]
What is going to happen to alionas house
He will probably get more skaters, or give it to the zhilina sisters
uuh being first😅
there is always someone that is here before i pin my comment. and i respect that
Liza Osokina appreciation club anyone?
I like the second coach you talk about. I can't remember his name but the 1st lady seems EVIL based on your other vids and the 3rd guy and his wife are just sketchy lol.
2nd is professor Alexei Mishin, former pair skater. Skated with Tamara Moskvina, who is also a coach now, but focused on pairs. They are 68/69 European Champs and 68/69 Worlds silver medalists
3rd is Evgeni Plushenko, 05/06 Olympics Champ, 13/14 Oympics Champ (team event), 2 times Olympics silver medalist, many times Worlds Champ and medalist and so on so on. In one word a legend of men's single skating, he was like Nathan Chan or Yuzuru Hanyu of its time. He decided to become a Great Coach and began by luring Tutberidze's skaters. Also his wife is Yana Rudkovskaya, famous producer and business woman in Russia. Ppl don't like her because of useless hype she makes
Mishin had covid and most or all Russian athletes and coaches. So wearing a mask for Mishin doesn’t help anyone.
Team Moser .Zhulin .A.Krylova .I Zhuk ?
No wonder Soviet Union colapsed, due to the russian drama
Luv this but not prof mission that's what it sounds like lol
I LIVE 4 FS DRAMAS
9:45 wtf
All Russian coaches seem to be cruel to their skaters. I feel sorry for them.
Tara Lipinski won olympics at age 15 and No-one claiming we need age limits because Lipinski was western world White skater! If males men like Yuzuru Hanyu and Ilya Malinin can do and try quad axel 4,5 round rotation then ladies can jump quads jumps easily! Men skate 10% faster than top ladies and men jump 17% longer and higher than the top ladies! So we get formula 1/2mv2=mgh and we get top ladies can jump 3,8-4 round rotation easily! There are over 100xtimes More girls figure skaters than no talent Boys skaters! We should have 40-50 women doing quads easily! Finnish skater Kiira Korpi lied Finnish tv that Yulia Lipnitskaya started big jumps ERA! The truth is that Yulia Lipnitskaya her double axel was the smallest ever! Yulia Lipnitskaya her double axel was so tiny! Midori Ito did triple axel 3,5 round rotation in 1989! Tonya Harding did jump triple axel 3,5 round rotation in 1991! Western world tv broodcasters and sport journalists and people loved so much big jumps back then but not today because russians doing big jumps! This probaganda video host Paola still her favourite is Tonya Harding! Are Yuzuru Hanyu Ilya Malinin Tara Lipinski Midori Ito Tonya Harding so broken and mental health problems and injured and wheelchair patiens today because they jumped longer and higher than Yulia Lipnitskaya! We do not see Probaganda videos that Simone Biles should do less twists and vaults and Bilels vault landings not perfect little extra step her landings! Why Males Yuzuru Hanyu and Ilya Malinin do not do safe double axel! They should be Human Rights skaters like small tiny Jumper Yulia Lipnitskaya! STOP Paola This Lie lame trash crap probaganda against women and Russians!
And there we have it, another skater going back to team Tutberitze, WITH AN INJURY caused by the methods of team Tutberitze :/ I hope Eteri doesn’t take her back, for her own wellbeing.
Berestovskaya? she was with cska, buddy. who are you fantasizing about??
@@vintiqestore8633 she’s talking abt kostornaia
Which injury and why was it caused by team Tutberidze?
@@elizabethfilippovich3252 she has a stress fracture, and back pain. The reason why people say it’s caused by Eteri is cause of the coaching methods Eteri uses. It’s for girls younger, with less body weight and haven’t fully hit puberty yet. When these girls start getting older the Eteri methods start to catch up with them and their body starts to basically “fail” this seems to happen to Eteri’s girls around the time they turn 17.
@@oyinolubayo7079 can you provide the source for that because I heard Medvedeva left with a broken back told by the haters but it turned iout to be another lie
Hot sergei is really hot lol
