    Most people who daily this car will be fine in my opinion. The issues are slim to none minus personal gripes that vary from owner to owner. There have been no mechanical issues besides the one on track that have been a problem, and that's only with experienced drivers no novices. I think if someone was to get this car and not track it which will be the majority as you know. This car is a perfect entry level sports car. Great video though love the content.

      I have no plans to use mine on track and here In Australia Toyotas come with a 5 year unlimited kilometer warranty with 7 year unlimited kilometers on the driveline. So no worries regarding engine reliability for me.

      @@iManual6peed I don’t think anyone is right cause it’s too early too tell. To say I have potential concerns with it is an opinion and neither right nor wrong and time will tell. To advertise a track car and give paid track time and Subaru and Toyota to not test these failures is a miss. Sure everyday driver will probably be fine but time will tell whether accurate or not.

    I believe the lag is due to the computer trying to determine what gear you're in by the wheel's speed and engine rpm. The transmission isn't directly sending info to the computer so it just has to wait till you drop the clutch to calculate

      considering that the lag is also for the mph which gets taken directly from the wheel speed the far more likely cause is either a poor refresh rate of the screen or shit programming of the software

    Cold air is denser, which allows a NA engine to produce more power. So it's expected that the car will be slower in hot weather and faster in cold weather (e.g., probably at night). Did you account for that?

    • @dergunter1237
      @dergunter1237 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yep, the oil pressure drop is due to the oil pan design and oil pickup tube design. You would have to use a baffled oil pan or replace the oil system with a dry sump one. First probably voids your warranty and the second is expensive. Makes no sense to buy a car and change half the components to make it work.
      It looked promising but it seems like cost cutting measures killed it. The RTV issue (which judging from the redesigned oil pickup tube seeming to be expected) seems to be a result of cost cutting due to using the wrong RTV, the shit multi media system, the lag of the screen due to most likely low refresh rate, the super cheap oil system.....

    I love this turn signal. It's not that complicated to use. When I drive cars with the "click" turn signal, I realize how much I love the turn signal in my 86. Some of your criticisms are certainly valid, however. We need to remind people that this is an entry-level, 30k sports car. For that price, you can't get anything better.

      the RTV issues doesnt seem to be resolved. Was interested in this care therefor I paid attention since it came out and as far as I can see toyota simply refuses to acknowledge the issue at all.
      The oil pressure drop during cornering issue is independent of the RTV issue tho. Its due to a standard design of the oil pickup system. Either you need a baffled oil pan or even better a dry sump system. It just sucks how promising the car was and now it turns out to have tons of issues due to massive cost cutting.
      Seems like toyota is suffering from the VW syndrome, i.e. get big due to good quality cars for a fair price and than cut corners where ever you can to increase quarterly profit margins

The cloth seats look cheap too. I disconnected the active noise. It was too much. Great looking car, exceot for the shark fin. At times the vehicle feels quick. Moves flawless, and at times, quirky, so inconsistent in performance. AC draws to much power, as well as Florida heat. If you put a passenger in the car that ways over 259lbs forget about it. It is a different thing when the engine has turbo or supercharger, natural aspirated engine depends on high revs so you need to shift down to get performance. It is not the bad side of the car cause there is more work=more fun. You only need to change driving style. Rev it up to 7000rpm and shift gears more with what you want to achieve on the road and you will have performance. With natural aspirated you need to make power and bring it to the nex gear, there is no supercharger to correct early shift and make performance.
    I have been driving natural aspirated engine cars most of my life, form 60-100HP and that is a real challenge to make performance on corners and hills, you got plenty of power.
    What you can do is make ECU tunning with Stage 1, that should give some HP and correct that gap from 4000-6000 rpm.

      considering that a turbo depends on exhaust gas speed and pressure to spool up your entire point of "NA cars need high revs" is other bs. Shifting to early is an issue for any car's power but to be precise, high rev numbers are worse for NA systems and you need to hit the right rev parameter at around typically 3000-4000 rpm to have full power. At higher revs near 7000 rpm an NA engine will have issues filling the piston cylinders with fresh air and exhausting the exhaust air effectively

    • @npfunmedia
      @npfunmedia 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dergunter1237 What you say about 3000-4000 rpm to have full power is true for my 1.6 (non turbo) Škoda.
      Car owner said that car is dead up to 6000rpm. It is a sports car, should be shifting near or in red to get performance. On car spec page is written "Rev. at Max Power 7,000 rpm " and in video that is just entry point of red zone. Losing power happens later. Like I said, I agree with you about turbo or non turbo engine, works that way. But this is a sports car, and if you do not rev it near red, you are in ECO mod.

    Sorry you're not enjoying the car so much, Austin. I liked it when I drove it, but that was at high speeds/RPMs for only about 15 minutes, so I wasn't living with it on a day-to-day basis, and didn't get to see any of the negatives you're experiencing. That being said, I had the chance to get a Premium model and passed on it, partly because of the issues they've been having with the engine. While 99% of the cars may be fine, I don't want to take a chance on a car that seems to have a design flaw right out of the box.
    Are you still planning on keeping the car? You've gotten rid of cars you seem to have liked more, so I don't see a reason to keep this if you've got more things you dislike about it than like. Plus, with them still being pretty limited in availability, now might be the best time to sell in order to get the most money for it.

    A good driver doesn't need a screen to know when to shift.. it's sound vibration and experience. Become the car and understand the potentials. I own the 23 BRZ and I am in Canada where it freezes. The windows usually drop an inch when hand on door handle is touched. But.. windows are frozen and don't drop that inch and you can't get in unless you compromise the window gasket seal. Door speakers vibrate side window mirrors. I love the BRZ it's fun to drive and looks sexy.

    As someone who has a 2023 BRZ and a first manual, yeah there are annoyances. Biggest gripe is no wireless android auto/apple carplay when designing a car with no space to put anything. My kia soul has a way better sound system with a big ass 12" subwoofer box taking up the trunk, and those stock speakers are not great but way better than the brz's. It holds many people and is great for traveling. My brz sucks in those regards. It's been in the shop for 4 days now (ppf and ceramic coating), and all I can say is I miss it like crazy. The kia is better for music, and "better" in traffic, but the brz is just way more fun and way more engaging in manual. It makes up for it's shortcomings. All I would say is make sure you have a more livable car to daily, or at the very least live with someone willing to let you use their car sometimes (either to take a break or to buy/move lots of stuff). That and a more reliable car is a good idea

    I think it’s bullshit that we are settling for less why paying more money for things. The technology in cars isn’t new anymore the engines are getting smaller. When you look into these cars what is really different from cars in the 80s that were coming with turbocharged 4 cylinder engines like the Shelby charger ,Shelby GLHS , Mazda 323 GTX which is all wheel drive and Volkswagen GTI etc… just to name few. For 30.000 dollars I want a better freaking radio and the best floor mats should come with that price and better seats. It really doesn’t cost much for them to add these things. If that radio was an after market one it would probably cost $60 and the seats maybe $100 each and the floor mats maybe $70. So demand more for your money and people should stop saying that for 30 or 40 thousand dollars it is a good deal ….no it’s not it’s bullshit 😊
