Elric needs to be on the movie screen! I was obsessed with Elric and his sidekick Stormbringer! I remember playing D&D and they had the Melnibone mythos in one of their guide books! Going to have to get back into Elric’s saga! Exciting stuff!
Im glad Michael is still around its been quite a few years since we met , back in the days when he worked with Hawkwind and around the Hammersmith area . He always called me young man . I was then , I still got bundles of his creations . Should have got at leat one signed
I read all the Moorcock books in the 70s and 80s and loved them! Elric, Dorian Hawkmoon, Corum, Oswald Bastable, so much wonderful books i enjoyed them all. Moorcock is a terrific talent but i have never seen and interview with him before, and this was great! Thank you. He is such a great guy! I am so glad his new Elric book is out and i will be getting it to enjoy!
Thank you for all the great books that accompanied me during my school days. I have fond memories of reading Hawkmoon, Corum, Elric and Erekose in those cold winter days snuggled close to a warm fireplace.
Bought my first Elric book. Enjoyed it. Bought rest of the Elric books. Enjoyed them. Now I have all Hawkmoon and Corum books too. Safe to say he's not just "the Elric guy".
Michael Moorcock I was introduced to the Elrick saga and let me tell you, sir. You are an amazing writer and you shot up to one of my favorite authors ever. Thank you so much for sharing your stories I haven’t finished I just read volume one and I am hooked. I told everybody that will listen what I’m reading. I bought it in Kindle with the Audible edition and I also bought it in hardcover just for my collection. Again, thank you so much for sharing your stories.❤
Once you get into Michael Moorcock it tends to become an obsession. Keep telling everybody how good Michael Moorcock is, he's incredibly underrated. I think he's the greatest living English writer.
Thank u so much Michael for all the years of enjoyment. I picked up my 1st Elric book in early 80s then bought the whole set right after, I was hooked. I remember even back then they were semi old already but I loved them! The Michael Whelan covers to boot!!! I have reread them all at least 10-12 times over the years. They never get old! Thank u SIR!!!
I can’t get enough of Moorcock. Started in the 70’s with Corum, then Elric and Hawkmoon. I’d love more stories about Corum and Hawkmoon and Prince Gaynor
I just finished Elric of Melnibone on Audible, also the Corum Swords trilogy and the Silver Hand chronicles! within the past year. I didn't realize this was a NEW elric book that JUST came out. Michael Moorcock is awesome. Loving the stories. I got a lot to catch up on! Great interview. I liked that you just sat back and let him give all this great insight!
Thanks Ross! Sumner says "Thanks mate - that's the only way to interview Michael Moorcock: just sit back and listen to the master talk about his amazing life." I found out about Elric when my girlfriend came home with part 1 of the Elric Saga. I’d never heard of it but she thought I might like it. Holy crap, man. Moorcock nailed it! Easily my favorite fantasy character/universe. Now I’m trying to get my hands on stuff about the other champions, like Hawkmoon
Loved all the Elric, Corum and Hawkmoon books which filled my early and late teens. So surprised they were each written so quickly. My all time favorite/influential set, 'The Dancers at the End Of Time' trilogy had such depth I am equally startled to find this was also written at this pace under the circumstances described in this interview - makes my jaw drop.
I eagerly await reading this new Eric novel. Have been a huge fan of the original books since high school. Never really understood why they weren't more popular. There is enough richness and depth for a whole series of movies. But instead we get "Lame" of thrones and endless Tolkien adaptations.
Moorcock has edited a new A4 issue of NW out this autumn with stories by Disch, Zoline, Sladek Sinclair, Ballard feature, Kausch. Moorcock Clute, Coulthart. Davey, Clute and more. 72 pages, colour throughout!

I know its cliché but reading the Elric books during a bad time in my life made me want to live and push on. I figured if Elric could do all he did even with his past I could do the same.
Elric damn near ended my first marriage in the first year (shame it didn't) since I talk in my sleep. Channeling Elric terrified her when I kept speaking of how I kill everyone I love.
@@mikelouis9389 I was never a Bowie fan, but you might be right, except that by the time CGI effects had gotten to the point of making a credible version, he would have been too old.
The man himself.
His work moved the fantasy genre in away that most people didn't even understand.

I like all his writings not just Elric.
Behold the Man springs to mind

One of the greatest English fiction writers of our time

He certainly is a legend! I grew up on his novels, so they are a part of my life now.
A wonderful, colourful voyage into an incredible mind!
AMEN 🚀

The greatest!!!!!!!!!!! This is the blueprint for writers.
"...it's a matter of perspective, Corum. We follow our whims."
The first volume of the elric saga just arrived today, So excited to read this.
Love this guy already read my two first Elric novels and loved them 😍
Reading through Elric saga for the first time now! Excited to get into this!
Moorcock is a legend!
Moorcock's works are many and great, so glad he's never been mainstream.😬
Thoroughly entertained, thank you. Looking forward to reading the new book. Roy Thomas & Michael Moorcock in conversation? that would great!
Legendary writer.
Thanks for doing this video
Thank you for another wonderful ramble.

Awesome
I named my first albino ferret Elric. Turns out that she was missexed by the pet shop so she was renamed Elrica 3 days later 😅

First I ever heard of MM was at a hawkwind gig waaay back. It was their Black Sword tour
Moorcock and the eternal champion are the same person!😂🙌🇬🇧
Truer than you think. Read the WHITERFRIARS trilogy appearing now!
This is a treat, cheers! I’m desperate to listen to the podcasts but can’t get the link to work…

How awesome would it be if Moorcock did a Masterclass or BBC Maestro?
I know its cliché but reading the Elric books during a bad time in my life made me want to live and push on. I figured if Elric could do all he did even with his past I could do the same.
I was inspired by this writer Michael Moorcock creating my characters For gaming like onion rings inspiration for a albino characters in my gaming
This guy's in his 80s, I'm in my 50s, and I'm afraid I'll die before he stops writing Elric novels!
(tbh, that's fine with me. He deserves it.)
Elric damn near ended my first marriage in the first year (shame it didn't) since I talk in my sleep. Channeling Elric terrified her when I kept speaking of how I kill everyone I love.
Sounds like Michael could write the Elric books faster than I can read them. :)
I stop the video now : I prefer to read the book before to continue (sorry for my english).
Why hasn't an Elric movie been done? Perhaps the greatest anti-hero in fiction.
They missed their best chance when David Bowie left us behind. The Thin White Duke would have been scary perfect

In 1969 I found the Jewel in the Skull in a caravan park shop. I was hooked.
I wish there were a TV series of the Elric saga. But then, they'd probably do it wrong - look at what they are doing to Asimov's Foundation :-(
