Without a doubt one of the greatest literary minds! The Elric saga has been a part of my life since I found the series in the early 1980's. Great to see Mr. Moorecock a living legend doing well.
Phenomenal output (100+ books) but some were written in only 3 days, and it shows. The best of Moorcock's heroic fantasy is up among the best ever written.
@Zatoichi444 , Yep! Unfortunately, the fans of The Witcher and Hellboy would accuse an Elric movie or series of plagiarism! I love both the Witcher and Hellboy but "The Elric Saga", obviously inspired both IPs. I've been a fan of the Eternal Champion since I was a teenager back in the 1980s.
There have been multiple attempts over the past 2 decades to try and bring the Elric series to the Big Screen. Unfortunately it has never managed to gain traction
My signed copy of The Citadel of Forgotten Myths arrived today from Forbidden Planet, well packaged and protected. I'll be rereading my Elric books again with this one sandwiched into continuity. I've been a Moorcock fan since childhood marvelling at the book covers, then falling into his wonderful stories, having a signed Elric is a dream come true and something I'll treasure, thank you Forbidden Planet, its means a lot to me.
Got my copy of the Citadel of Forgotten Myths and I am planning to crack it open when Im done with my studies. Thank you very much for your contributions Mr. Moorcock. It's because of Elric that I got back into reading and its all thanks to a certain man from Arizona who recommended it to me and my dad who was always a big fan of Elric. He was overjoyed that I took an interest in the series and got me a copy of the first book. I enjoyed reading both the first book and Sailor on the seas of fate and I am sure I shall enjoy this knew installment of Elric of Melbibone. I wish you all the best Moorcock and thank you to the creator who got this meeting going.
Elric is my favorite fantasy character of all time. I didn't know there was a new novel out (I guess a year now). Very exciting. Going to order it now.
The fact that he isn’t as well known as the people he inspired like Neil Gaiman and George RR Martin irks me beyond belief, he belongs up there with Tolkien, Robert E Howard, and other master fantasy writers.
@@ryan.1990 I guess I don’t know too much about his politics, I heard he was an anarchist or something. I mainly just pay attention to his books. There needs to be more conservative/libertarian fantasy and sci-fi writers. These genres seem to be infested with leftists. I know more conservatives that are creative than liberals who generally cannot think up anything original.
@@domusavires19 there are more than enough libertarian writers out there, they just tend to be not good. Same goes for conservatives. Turns out having regressive ideas doesn't convert well into artisitc qualities.
Oh man, that new book sounds fascinating. Going into the background of the Melniboneans and the Dragons. I WILL be getting that. Totally agree. FAR too much LAW about these days. MORE CHAOS NEEDED.
For years I told people my two favorite fantasy writers are Michel Moorcock and Tanith Lee. Sadly nobody knew about them. It sooooo nice to see a resourgance of his work. It's so different from all the stuff that came before and after, even though they influenced many people who stayed away from mainstream McDonnald stories. Elric is just such an icon. The same with TL's Flat Earth books and the Vazkor/White Witch trilogy.
Loved the IPC stuff. This needed actually - oral history of 20th century British genre & comics publishing. The fictionalised version in Michael’s Whispering Swarm is fascinating.
Xiombarg absconds with The White Sword before Elric can get ahold of it at the end of "Red Pearls" from "Swords & Dark Magic". "Citadel" is the conclusion of this three-parter.
OMG Michael is still alive. I gave up reading years ago but I never forgotten ELRIC.and the Chronicles of the black sword and the chronicles of the eternal champion. My early to late teens when I read was made of these stories :D
Elric of Melniboné, The Fortress of the Pearl, The Sailor on the Seas of Fate, The Weird of the White Wolf, The Vanishing Tower, The Revenge of the Rose, Bane of the Black Sword, Stormbringer. There is also the Dreamquest Trilogy (The Dream Thief's Daughter, The Skraeling Tree, and The White Wolf's Son) and a short-story collection of mostly non-Elric material entitled Elric at the End of Time. The new book (Citadel of Forgotten Myths), I believe is between Weird of the White Wolf and Vanishing Tower. Cheers!
This new generation is all about "The Witcher" and the Manga "Berserk"...both of which are straight from or completely plagiarized or inspired from Moorcocks writing
13? Wonderful, a positive number if you read James Vogh 'The Thirteenth Zodiac- The Sign of Arachne'... clearly totally genuine and not a fake tale by John Sladek, David Langford... at all.. No No No.
Until 2014, the biggest magazine publisher in the UK. Founded in 1963, it was rebranded as Time Inc UK in 2014 and sold to Future Publishing in 2020. In its heyday (when Moorcock & Sumner worked there) it was a vast company, publishing hundreds of magazines and comics every week/month (including 2000 AD and Judge Dredd). For most of its existence, IPC and its thousands of staff were located in the 29 storey Kings Reach Tower building on the south bank of the Thames in London (Kings Reach Tower also doubled as Tharg's spaceship in 2000 AD).
Moorcock needs to fire his editor. So may issues (continuity, pacing, contradictory story lines and more) with the book that could have been fixed before printing. As printed The Citadel of Forgotten Myths is basically the first draft or what had potential to be a good story.
When I mention Elric to people online these days, they think I'm talking about rice. They see the word Elric and think it's a misspelling of el rice. I try to explain it, but people just don't understand or care. It makes me furious.

Read the newly released original works of R.E.H.'s Conan too
I can't believe there's new Elric.
Moorcock is my favourite writer ever.
Elric needs to be made into a movie. I know no movie could do him justice but.....Elric is the thing of movies and needs to be done.

They'd just ruin it now. Believe me u don't want it in this age
A living legend as far as I am concerned, Elric, Erekose, Count Brass et al. Great catch, thank you.
I owe Michael Moorcock so much. Thanks Michael.

Been wanting to read Elric for a long time, glad these new editions are coming out.
Elric and Corum and Hawkmoon blew my young mind. Good times
Elric is my favorite fantasy character of all time. I didn't know there was a new novel out (I guess a year now). Very exciting. Going to order it now.
Thank you very much from France.
Can't wait to get this book. Love all the various Eternal champion novels
Thank you Moorcock!
How wonderful to see Mr Moorcock looking so well. Not sure the world needs another Elric novel but so glad he's still around
Uh speak for yourself, we need more Elric.
This is awesome news!
Michael Moorcock is the fkn man
AMEN

I hope this book will come in Italy soon after o to ed, thank you for everything mister Moorcock! 🐉❤️🔥🔥
this was such a charming interview.
I’m eager to get my hands on this! One of those classic authors that is amazingly still with us!

This guy talks like a rockstar talking about his best albums and tours. He's all the Beatles in one.
Really looking forward to it and nice interview!
The best.

I'm gonna tell my ex he is still alive xxxx
can someone please list the Elric books in order including the ones that fit in-between the original books?
Look up razorfist video on YT for it, he gives a rough recommendation
Elric of Melniboné, The Fortress of the Pearl, The Sailor on the Seas of Fate, The Weird of the White Wolf, The Vanishing Tower, The Revenge of the Rose, Bane of the Black Sword, Stormbringer. New Elric story after 30 years

I'm confused about the chronolgy. This book is supposed to takes place before the Fall of Melniboné but Elric had not met Moonglum yet.
I need a second Like button.
It's the 12th, not the 13th. Unless you count Elric at the End of Time. Do you?
13? Wonderful, a positive number if you read James Vogh 'The Thirteenth Zodiac- The Sign of Arachne'... clearly totally genuine and not a fake tale by John Sladek, David Langford... at all.. No No No.
Robert Jordan is great to & Robert E Howard are great writers.
Doctors who is part of the elricverse
What is IPC?
