    Nice job. Please follow up with conclusion. I was thinking it was the left side, but we will see! Love that little lift you have. Looking into one myself .

      Problem solved. Nice and quiet again.
      The lift has been awesome, highly recommended! They have gotten much more expensive than when I bought it about 8 years ago.

    Great to see people from Minnesota making videos . I’ll be moving back up to the cities again . Thanks again it didn’t seem like it was a hard job at all . I’m getting this noise also on my ls460 . Do you drive your ls in the Minnesota winter ?

      👍👍 Minnesota!
      Access to one of the bolts is a pain but otherwise not a terrible job swapping out the bearing.
      I don’t drive it in the winter. I don’t know if what the history is link so it’s possible it’s seen a winter, but I just park it.

    Good job. Just wanted to ask if vibration around 60MPH, is a symptom of a bad bearing? (balanced the tires already)

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the wheel bear is loose it definitely would be. With the wheel off the ground grab it at 3 and 9 o'clock and check for play, then do the same at 12 and 6 o'clock. If you have play in both directions it's most likely a loose wheel bearing and that can cause an out of balance type symptom. If it's not loose in both directions then look elsewhere.

    How did you loosen the last bolt? I’m working on replacing wheels bearing on my Lexus08 LS460 4.6L V8. Im still working on the last bolt. There’s not much room to play with. Help!?

      Oh man, that was a while ago! It was a pain. I thing I used a closed end 12 point wrench and could just sneak it in enough to get a little turn each time. I can’t remember exactly but it was a slow process with no special tools.
      Best of luck!

    When I was changing the brakes and rotors on my 2007 ls460 . After getting the rotor on I couldn’t get caliper to go on w/o scrapping rotor. I took it off and spun the rotor bolted down and it looked like it was wobbling. Is that the same part I need to replace to fix?

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The rotor does seat on the hub, which is part of the wheel bearing assembly. If you had no prior hub / bearing issue I would find it hard to believe you have a bad one. Definitely verify you have a hub issue before you start replacing parts.

    I am currently trying to remove the hub from knuckle. 30ton hydraulic press gave up....

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve run into that on other cars. Had to get a knuckle from the salvage yard. It’s a crappy situation.

    My car ls460 makes popping noises only in low speed like reverse and parking when turning left and right only could it be the wheel bearing?

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would take a good look at the ball joints and tie rod ends. There are 8 ball joints in the front ends of these cars. :(

    Are aftermarket bearings okay and should you replace them in pairs?

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly haven't been able to figure out if the more expensive "higher quality" aftermarket ones are any better than the less expensive aftermarket ones. I haven't had a bad experience with any of them.
      I typically only replace the bad bearing. They aren't a maintenance item with a specific number of miles or length of time they will last. You may never have to replace the other one.

      @@bennieaust Good to know, thanks!

    • @ryannrjohnson
      @ryannrjohnson ปีที่แล้ว

      @u4tubular with the cheaper ones I've had hit or miss issues. Like I had one last 45000 miles which was decent for 60 bucks but the next time the same WJB brand didn't last 20000 miles so I replaced it under warranty replacement but the replacement wheel speed sensor was faulty but I used it anyway and the hub lasted over 50000 miles but I'm getting error codes on both sides on the wheel speed sensors now. Connecting a new hub knocks out the codes so that concluded the sensors don't last long on the cheaper ones. The time I replaced with Timken the sensors never went bad and the hubs lasted a little over 80000 miles. The driver and passenger side varies in prices for some reason 🤷‍♂️. Since my my wheel speed sensors are bad I just ordered Mevotech Supreme for the first time so I will replaced them probably this weekend. The Lexus dealership couldn't bleed my brakes with that sensor code in that's why I'm replacing then both.

    So at 3:40 he basically concluded that it is a wheel bearing even though he said no issues with tire tread and no play in the wheel. Like, wth?

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s correct, noise was the only symptom with this particular wheel bearing. Pretty common, just replaced one 2 days ago for someone with the exact same issue, noisy, no play. I’m pretty picky with my cars so a noisy wheel bearing will absolutely get replaced even if it’s not loose yet.

      I have encountered some really difficult ones. Fortunately this one wasn’t bad.
      When the knuckles are aluminum (bearings are always steel) there will be dissimilar metal corrosion that happens. It’s a white powdery corrosion that can make it very difficult.
