This professional is no frills, astute, and educated. Her technique is thorough and there are many elements I'm adding to improve my at home relaxing process.
My biggest fear for doing at home relaxers is rinsing it out. Do you rinse it out in the shower or sink? Any tips on doing it to avoid the the relaxer having contact with other areas of the body.
@@courtneytaylor8727 My preference for consumers is to go to a professional for a relaxer service . If you must do this at home please rinse the product out thoroughly in the sink or tub faucet. A shampoo hose will also be very helpful.
@@courtneytaylor8727 I would suggest the shower because of two things. First, water pressure is greater in the shower than in the sink, keeping the hair cuticle straightener and don't forget to rinse with your head back to ensure removal of all the relaxer. Second, rinsing in the shower prevents chemicals from making contact with your eyes and face. So, what do you think?
In some of the comments, it is mentioned that people shouldn't relax their at home. You must consider that not everyone has the means to travel to, or get their hair cared for by a professional, so this kind of thorough, intelligent instruction is needed. In my case, Im across the world and don't have access to a beautician, so as long as videos like this are created, Ill be just fine. Excellent training video

I enjoyed this video. I'm saving it to play for my stylist, she knows nothing. I wish I can relax myself, I wouldn't even bother. Thumbs up for this great video
These stylist don’t want you to tell them anything about your own hair!! I say get out of there while you still got your hair, I lost a ton of hair because my stylist for over 10 years changed products, she says she didn’t but she’s also a lair, the relaxer burn my scalp so bad it broke the skin took a month to heal it was oozing for days, she took no responsibility at all, now I learn to relax my own hair, if anybody screw my hair up I rather for it to be me😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
I'm glad I learned to do it myself, I think at 25. I am about to be 48 now. It came in handy when I was 30.5, because I moved to an entirely different area and no one did relaxers professionally. I am guessing because for most of the part of state I live in, the Black or Mixed with Black population is very very low.
I've started my hair journey in Jan, now looking to do my own relaxer, watching your video, I feel very confident I can do it successfully...you are very informative and precise compared to others..
I am glad I found your channel. I have not done a relaxer since school and have a retouch tomorrow. I know I got this, but since its been a bit I needed some refreshing. Nice work :)
I use my hands and I do the outter edges last because they process quick. When I do my own the night before I braid down my hair in at least 6 to 8 sections and that helps me so much doing my own. When I do others I do use the four sections and my relaxers come out bone straight..which do you like no lyr or lye...I do like you applied a base protection to the scalp and the already perms sections to not over process...
Chile....if you woulda washed my hair and scalp like that I wouldn’t have said jack. That hair massage feels so good!!! To receive that from someone else makes me go to sleep. When you massage your own scalp if feels good but when the stylist massage it 😴😴😴😴
The application process was well done. Everything was well-explained, even addressing questions I had in my mind. I wish that my hair could get the same care at a local salon in my area. I used to go from salon to salon hoping to find someone as thorough as you are. Now that I'm considering going from natural to relaxed hair, I really hope to find a capable hair professional.

I really enjoyed watching your video. Clean sections and clean application. You are really well educated! I just want to suggest to protect your hands as well as you protect your mom's scalp. Some product lines, such as Influance, instruct you to use their products in this way. To use the reconstruct or prior to the neutralizer. So based on whatever relaxer system she is using, this may be the case.

I noticed that you did not apply a deep conditioning treatment after the relaxer. I always thought that you have to go under the dryer for at least 10 minutes to condition the hair post relaxer
The cuticle is open after a relaxer, it will still penetrate without heat. I don’t put my mom under the dryer at all because she hot flashes severely. Any other client I typically would

The chemicals used to create relaxers, even children's relaxers are quite strong. If you choose to do a relaxer, wait until she's at least 6 or 7. Three years old is too young. Instead use coconut oil, olive oil and Shea butter after shampooing her hair to keep it healthy, moisturized and soft. And always use a wide tooth comb to comb her hair. I hope this helps.
My biggest fear for doing at home relaxers is rinsing it out. Do you rinse it out in the shower or sink? Any tips on doing it to avoid the the relaxer having contact with other areas of the body?
Also, most Vitale relaxers contains a good amount of she butter and oil. When the relaxer starts breaking down you’ll see how soft, shiny and oiled the hair looks
Great question and it depends on the leave in, feel of the hair and the overall look you’re wanting to achieve. The leave in I used is liquid and it’s light weight and says to spray generously throughout the hair. If it’s a cream leave in, no more than I dime sized amount for relaxed hair (sometimes more or less based on density of hair). If it’s a creamy leave in for natural hair, maybe 2 dime sized amounts for a head that’s been split into half. Remember to start with the smallest amount and then comb it though (combing/brushing further smooths products through the length of hair) and THEN add more if you feel like you need more
JayAndrelle Yes, but usually when I’m using heat I use a spray leave in. In my next video you’ll see. You have to be carefully with creamy products and heat because the hair can be weighed down easily
Love your video. You said you do not exceed 20 mins when you are relaxing the hair. Did the 20 minutes start when you started relaxing the hair or did you start counting after you applied the relaxer to all 4 sections?
Ok when you are going to perm your hair and you still have your hair style in it do you perm over it or wash your hair first and wait days to perm it i mever knew this

Thanks for replying back hope you n your families n friends n clients are safe by our heavenly father wishing u god grace n protection can u please explain my hair is medium texture sensitive scalp I use a no lye relaxer in normal srenght the maximum time on the timing chart. 13_15mins n applying relaxer application is 8 mins n smoothing time is 8 to 10 mins should I relaxup to 13 or 15 mins then rinse out relaxer please help with this question if I go up to 15 mins is that overproccesing my hair
@@dianaanglin4423 Do a test strand in the front and back of your head and see how your hair feels. If you go past the 8-10 minutes your hair will be a little bit more straighter. Truthfully, I think it’ll be fine, but with medium textured hair, leaving a slight wave in it will give it a little body
@@Ashley21138hi Ashl.ey how was your day so far thanks for replying when a strand test is done in the front n the back how long should I leave it on do I do both area at the same time or do one at a. Time can you explain the instruction for strand test n after it is done what's the next step I take I greatly appreciated your expertise on this matter I many blessings
@@dianaanglin4423 Follow the instructions in the relaxer. It’s a test strand so do what is normally done to see what the results would be like if you were to do your entire head. Do both at the same time
Where can I find post Chemical infuser ?
I noticed that you did not apply a deep conditioning treatment after the relaxer. I always thought that you have to go under the dryer for at least 10 minutes to condition the hair post relaxer
The cuticle is open after a relaxer, it will still penetrate without heat. I don’t put my mom under the dryer at all because she hot flashes severely. Any other client I typically would
@@Ashley21138 thank you for explaining. I had a stylist repeatedly relax my hair without deep conditioning and always wondered why she did that.
Where can I find the influence product
The first thing you are applying is it ordinary oil?
Hi.. please I need you opinion on doing a Relaxer only to loosen a little big just to make it more manageable for my 3 yrs old daughter that has thin hair 3c but I don’t have any exp on curly hair what I have learned is from you tube. Love your videos.. please continue to share your videos. Sorry for my English my 1st language it’s Spanish 😊
I hope this helps.
thanks for the video and i wish you post perming video soon .
I’ll be back soo. Thanks
what virgin relaxer did you use did you use vitale or design essentials relaxer, affirm relaxer , the hair came out beautiful you did a great job
Odjevwe Oraka I used Vitale tender-headed relaxer. I use either Design Essentials sensitive scalp or Vitale depending in the clients hair. Thank you!
The best perm step by step routine indeed 😅, thanks for sharing.
My biggest fear for doing at home relaxers is rinsing it out. Do you rinse it out in the shower or sink? Any tips on doing it to avoid the the relaxer having contact with other areas of the body?
Can you place a list of all the products you used in this video thanks.
your a great teacher
Thanks you 💕
Good process and good job
Love the way you handle her hair sis. Please can i apply Shea butter all over the scalp before going in with the relaxer application?
Thank you. Hmm, I would just stick to a grease (base or Vaseline) or oil.
Also, most Vitale relaxers contains a good amount of she butter and oil. When the relaxer starts breaking down you’ll see how soft, shiny and oiled the hair looks
@@Ashley21138 okay!!! So what natural product do you suggest i can apply before going ahead with my relaxer application? Thanks!!!
Do you use Lye relaxers or no lye? The hair is beautiful.
Both, but this one in particular is no lye
How can someone get the "Pre-chemical treatment" product?
Shans bo You have to be a licensed stylist to purchase it but you can check with the hair salons in your area to see if they retail it.
@@Ashley21138 thank you. 😊
Great job, how do you know when you had sprayed enough leave in conditioner so that the hair moisturized?
Great question and it depends on the leave in, feel of the hair and the overall look you’re wanting to achieve. The leave in I used is liquid and it’s light weight and says to spray generously throughout the hair.
If it’s a cream leave in, no more than I dime sized amount for relaxed hair (sometimes more or less based on density of hair). If it’s a creamy leave in for natural hair, maybe 2 dime sized amounts for a head that’s been split into half. Remember to start with the smallest amount and then comb it though (combing/brushing further smooths products through the length of hair) and THEN add more if you feel like you need more
Ashley TaShira thank you so much for replying. Does the same guidelines apply if you are using heat?
JayAndrelle Yes, but usually when I’m using heat I use a spray leave in. In my next video you’ll see. You have to be carefully with creamy products and heat because the hair can be weighed down easily
Ashley TaShira i look forward to that upload
Love your video. You said you do not exceed 20 mins when you are relaxing the hair. Did the 20 minutes start when you started relaxing the hair or did you start counting after you applied the relaxer to all 4 sections?
I think it should be from when you immediately start putting relaxer on the hair
Best question ever, yet nobody replies to it
When I start
Hi can you name all the products that I will be needing
What kind of base product you use?
Ampro
Ok when you are going to perm your hair and you still have your hair style in it do you perm over it or wash your hair first and wait days to perm it i mever knew this
Awesome video!! But please reconsider the music, it's loud busy & video gamie
Thanks for the recommendation
I like the sound, turn your volume down...
