1/3rd of India was already separated into a different country based on religion and given away to Muslims. They now have 2 countries, Pakistan & Bangladesh that are Islamic Republics, which were originally a part of India. Those countries are oppressing non-Muslims in their countries, that is why India is providing them asylum. If there are any Muslims seeking asylum, maybe they should seek asylum and nationality there, rather than in India. If you take 1/3rd of a country's land to form a separate nation based on a certain religion, then maybe we have already provided enough for these and at the very least they can now consider helping those of the religion for which they partitioned India to begin with.

The best path for India is, whatever the current US State Department thinks and says, pay as little attention to it as possible. The current US administration cannot even police its own borders and shows little interest in the welfare of most of its own people. India, on the other hand, seems focused on general welfare of its people. Bravo. We can learn from your example.

Indian or Hindu Nationalism is a uniting response to the perceived weakness of a loose-knit liberal Way of Life [that is Sanathana Dharma or Hinduism].
The clear perception is that a tolerant & accepting religion, will always come off second best against determined, organised , proletyizing religions like Islam & Christianity.
Hence, Hindu nationalism is to unite Hindus to protect themselves from Islam & Christianity.

India was divided in the name of religion because Muslims wanted to make separate countries for Muslims. So what is the logic, and why should India give citizenship to Muslims who prosecute Hindus in their countries? thos readical who coming from neighboring Muslim countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan? All other religious minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, and Buddhists) in these Muslim countries are persecuted under sharia law, and they do not have any place to go. A muslim no matter where they are owe their first and foremost allegiance to their fellow muslims and islamic regimes across the world instead of the nation where they were born in or are the citizen of. They do not care about their fellow citizens, neighbors, leaders but are loyal to the world wide Islamic umma(nation) as they say. Hence they are prone to thinking inwardly about them and their muslim communit in opposition to their fellow human.
The muslims have already built sizable vote banks in all western and Easters nations, positioning themselves to be the swing or decisive vote in democracies, thus forcing the leaders to pander to their demands. The demands start from blasphemy laws and hate speech laws to curb criticism regarding the draconian islamic practices and will keep going until they some kind of sharia law or change the secular constitution of the country. This has happened in Malaysia, and will happen in every country where the muslims will become a majority.

On the Citizenship Amendment Act a most important point is missed - What is today Pakistan and Bangladesh were very much India inly. Afghanistan too while a frontier province was closely connected to India ( remember Bamiyan Buddha?)
India was partitioned once it became clear yhat Muslims are not regaining their hegemony once the British left, in those parts of India which had a "Muslim" majority population to give a "Muslim" homeland for Muslims and ruled by Sharia law and Islam.
Just not true that religion had never been part of citizenship. The country was partitioned on the basis of Islam.
The Hindu population in these areas thus became hostages and second grade citizens in these nee "Muslim" countries.
Where else would they go if not to what remained of India, the India you currently know ?
And why shouldn't India give citizens to these Hindus on priority? And excluse Muslims from these places? After all they wanted partition and got partition.
Imagine in the UK or France the Muslims carve out a sepRate "homeland" for French Muslims or English Muslims, wouldn't you give cituzenshio to the French and English who found themselves on the wrong side of the line in this Muslim Homeland ?

@OfirHaivry, CAA does not give a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants; it gives path to citizenship for people of minority religions in 3 neighboring Islamic countries as per the agreement at the time of partition that those non-Muslims who wanted to settle in India would be welcomed from the Muslim countries, and Pakistan was supposed to have a similar law that allowed Muslims to move from India to Pakistan. With CAA, India was fulfilling its promise to those who had come before 2014 but the Congress government never gave them a path to citizenship for the 70 years they were in power.

Bharat I.e. India is led by principles of Sanatana Dharma ie Hinduism. Sanatana Dharma means live and let live, not like Abrahamic religions where only their religions are superior and other religions are inferior. For centuries due to invasion of muslims and britishers the Hindu population was killed raped and looted. Hindu Bharat lost lot of land to Afghanistan Myanmar china and rogue state. Rogue state was formed for the reason that muslims cannot live with Hindu. Since formation of rogue state Muslims got a huge territory and many Hindus lost their land property and were refugees in their own home. Kashmiri Hindus faced seven genocides more than Jews. Many Kashmiri Hindus were killed brutally skin removed hanged for days and raped and looted. Naturally when rogue state was formed by muslims for muslims how can Bharat have a citizenship law allowing muslims from muslim countries as they are not prosecuted in muslim land. Even then Bharat grants citizenship to people of all religion and race on application. Bharat is taking a leading role on its own terms we cannot be vassals of USA. We are very clear about our interests. On the hand muslims in Bharat are doing well their population in Bharat has increased 44% since independence whereas Hindu population decreased majorly. Hindu population has decreased to 3 % from 20% in rogue state since independence because young Hindu girls are raped forcefully converted and killed. We shall do what is best for our country not what USA or any other country dictates.

I have realized it is not really a conflict between countries, but between ideologies. In India, I would say there is the socialist -anti-Hindu and the centrist-nationalist or Indic (although it is called the right, I think it is not correct if you look holistically at the Modi govt’s policies overall) ideologies. There is both left and right in the US which are pro or anti India depending on what ideology governs India. And India for a very long time was ruled by socialist minded congress party. Only about 15 out of 76 years have been ruled by non-socialist government.
